  1. To answer the question on his defense I believe BA rated him our top defensive catcher in the minor league system. So he should be good enough to backup even if he cant hit well.
  2. Where did you hear that he would come up? We aren't allowed to replace Barrett with anyone while he's on his suspension so someone else would have to be brought down. Unless it was reported somewhere otherwise I think we are going to have Blanco playing every game with Mabry as the emergency catcher.
  3. Roster crunch. In one league I am faced with a dilemna with Coco Crisp returning from the DL. While I could keep him there as long as I want I figure I need to make a move. The tricky part is that this league has no bench, so I don't have a cheap player to throw away. My roster Barrett-C Estrada-C Berkman-1B Luis Castillo-2B Chipper Jones-3B Omar Vizquel-SS Mora- CI Hanley Ramirez- MI Manny Ramirez-OF B Giles- OF Gibbons- OF C. Wilson- UTIL I figure with Casey returning to the Pirates soon I may be able to just get rid of Wilson without harm because his ABs will drop significantly. Ramirez,Giles and Gibbons offer too much in HR RBI AVG and OBP to want to drop any of them and I cant get rid of any of the other players with Crisp because he and the other OF are limited to OF. I have sent out some trade offers to try and get some good pitchers in which case I would drop McCarthay, Weaver, or Blanton. But trades take times for guys to reply, and then usually there is the counter offers which could go back and forth so it is a much longer process. So should I just cut ties with Wilson knowing his ABs will likely drop now?
  4. Should he have taken off his gear first? I think Barrett was out of line today so I wont disagree with you on that point, but the way that reads makes it seem as if Barrett only did that cuz he was protected by the gear, which is a ridiculous assumption IMO.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctsYoWLgtuY That was stupid of Barrett, but if he was gonna explode, at least he took out his frustration on AJ. This just adds to the joke of a season we've had. This wont fire up this team. This team will only continue to falter. I have a suggestion. Trade Barrett for AJ. Barrett deserves to win and this joke of an organization is exactly what AJ deserves. Yea the fans don't deserve AJ, but at this point we are already numbed from the likes of Dusty, Niefi, Hendry, we'll barely notice.
  6. It's not always easy to pitch for the team you grew up loving. Ask LaTroy Hawkins.
  7. With the way we've been playing I counted the streak at one.
  8. If we could get him cheap, and let him show off his talent we could trade him for a better prospect than we gave away once Lee returns. Thats assuming he performs well at the Major League Level, but worth the risk.
  9. I don't know if Dusty is smart enough to come up with a plan like this but maybe he rested them hoping that with Z pitching we would win and he could credit it his new lineup and justify keeping it that way. I remember Bulls fans specualting Skiles was trying to do something like that when they were about to hit an easy part of the schedule after struggling for a while. It was towards the end of the season. Nevermind, Dusty is just stupid.
  10. He could also pitch in consecutive games if he decided to only use the one arm each game.
  11. Perez, Rusch, and JJ, hands down. Way more versatile, and all three of them flat out know how to win. Really hard to convey sarcasm with the written word, isn't it? At another board go to sarcasm is usually written using green. I think thats a great idea.
  12. I have this really cool Cubs bottle opener that plays a Chip Caray game winning call whenever it touches the bottle cap. Other than that Len>Chip
  13. This is gonna be the first time since I first started walkng the Draft that I'll miss a big cunck of it. Lucklily with the Bears picking so late, probably later as a trade down looks possible, I won't miss them. I <3 the Draft.
  14. I am waiting for a little while to see if everyone keeps up a pace that would make them deserving of an All Star appearance.
  15. I don't really get all the crap he gets for the half-shirt to be honest. I think they were great to wear under my football pads during practices. If I lifted after pactice I might even wear it, its not a big deal, I'm just lifting weights, no one should care about making some fashion statement. They are nice and breathable. I even occassionaly wear it as an undershirt under my school uniform when it gets warm. Half shirts= the only good thing about Edmonds.
  16. I can't believe I missed this interview! It was a good chat. The one comment I had was he seemed to have an issue with that early season Peoria weather. Hopefully he doen't get too comfortable in Daytona.
  17. In my one league I have Chipper Jones coming back off the DL and need to drop someone. In this league there is no bench. I have decided to drop Rich Aurillia, Jason Repko, or Jay Gibbons. Stats are H/AB R HR RBI AVG OBP I would say Aurillia, but I like that I can put him at any IF position. Who woul you drop?
  18. I just did a Google search and look at news stories and saw nothing. Looks okay to me.
  19. I NEED to hear this story... http://www.rookiesquantities.com/images/jf04_11_Black.jpg = http://www.dearjoaquin.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10018/normal_signs194.jpg Well I'm still lost. Oh Well.
  20. Yes and mine too. Also Todd Hollandworth's birthday. And the day of Columbine. It's an interestng day.
  21. I'll feel for them when they trade us Jason Bay and Craig Wilson for Jaque Jones Freddie Bynum, and some mid-level pitching prospect.
  22. I NEED to hear this story...
