While teams can't technically talk with Free Agents until July 1st, they will. They will just make sure not to put anything on paper or through email or basically anything that could be traced. They probably won't talk directly with the player either. They will talk with the agents though. Lebron will likely know far in advance of July 1st whats happening. The only reason there would be a hold up is if a S&T occurs or he wants to wait to see what a team like NY can sign around him.

IDK what teams offseason games plans are. I wish I had a job that allows me to including in finding out, but alas it's not to be. But believe it or not, Hinrich only has 2 years left remaining on his contract ($17 mill left on his deal), and considering that teams like the Lakers (Hinrich would be much better then Fisher/Farmar) have shown interests in the veteran guard, I would say there is better then 50/50 chance of Hinrich being traded. I don't know who though, but I do believe there will be a decent market for Hinrich. Now if the Bulls do the unthinkable and sign Lebron, I could see Allen jumping from Boston to Chicago. Otherwise, I see Allen staying in Boston. Who are you gonna get from the Lakers for Hinrich though? I don't think it's gonna be anyone who is an upgrade. As you alluded to, his deal is only two more years, so you'd have a hard time justifying him for a downgrade. You need to get a deal that is fair from a talent standpoint, and I'm not sure you can, not from the Lakers at least.

It'd be nice, but I'm not sure how we could get a legit big man. There is the possibility of a Loul Deng trade, but I'm not sure who'd take on Deng. None of the team with FAs would I think. Maybe Minnesota would for Al Jefferson, other than that I can't think of a good big man we could acquire, you'd be talking about Elton Brand or someone like that. You'd just kind of have to deal with Lebron and Deng as your forwards. Although Lebron would be listed as your 3, I think realistically, you'd seem him fulfilling more of a PF role on offense, and most defensive matchups would call for him guarding the 4's. A shooter I think will be easier. I could really see Ray Allen signing for a little less than $5M if we had Lebron, which is about what we'll have to spend.

It's really no surprise to me that if Lebron leaves, Chicago would be his first choice.

McHale is a hack of a GM. As a coach, Minnesota had a relatively good record with him (compared to their atrocious record without him as coach), but its such a small sample size to make a conclusion. And I read a Yahoo article with Anthony Carter which basically says McHale has no idea what he's doing, so there's that. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Wolves-coach-Kevin-McHale-not-an-X-s-and-O-s-ty?urn=nba,128193 I'd hire him as an assistant coach/big man coach at the most, but I also don't think that his coaching abilities are as bad as his GMing abilities (not saying much I suppose). My first choice is JVG. After that, I'm not sure. Calipari if he could lure Lebron (but I don't think he can)

I liked that this actual stuff about current Bears has been looked past because of the Sayers stuff... Anyways, Davis can go for all I care, but knowing Lovie and his staff, anyone who wants to replace him is gonna have to contribute on ST (since he's basically a #5/6 receiver right now). Also, most shocking part of this snippet for me was reading that he played CB... I never knew that. I thought he came as a WR from Arena league.

When the Big 12 collapses on itself, we're going to look really stupid for taking scrub schools like Rutgers, Nebraska and Mizzou Isn't the whole hypothetical of the Big 12 collapsing on itself based on the fact that the Big Ten would be robbing them of two teams? Kind of a catch 22.

Simple solution, Big 12 avoids splintering by taking on the top schools from a smaller conference.

i'm pretty sure that you don't have to match salaries on sign and trades. they work differently than normal trades. you simply have to have the cap space available. or so that's what realgm tells me. If we were over the cap, we'd still have to follow the +25% rule, which states a team can't take back more than 25% of the outgoing salaries.

You don't need to send salary back to whatever team you S&T with? We're under the cap, and as long as we stay under the cap, no. In such a scenario, the trade would generate a $16,568,908 TPE for Toronto, which they could use to acquire players via trade for up to one year, without sending other salary back.

My tentative off season plan: Sign and Trade a future second rounder and our first rounder for Bosh. We do the sign and trade so that Bosh can get his 6th year and 10.5% raise. Toronto agrees to get some picks. The pick would be nice to keep for some depth, but I have some other ideas anyways. Sign Ray Allen to a 3 yr/12.4M deal structured as 4/4.2/4.2. If possible make the third year a team option. Bring over Turkish center Omer Asik to a 4 yr/$7.84M deal starting at $1.75M with max raises. 4th year Player Option. Sign Brad Miller to the vet minimum. Fill out roster with minimum contract PG, SG, and SF. Rose-Hinrich Allen-Hinrich Deng-Johnson Bosh-Gibson Noah-Miller-Asik

Hmmm interesting. I'd rather keep him and let him, Afalava, and Harris battle for a starting spot, but he does look like the #3 to me at this point, so if we took Bullocks instead it wouldn't be a huge deal.

So we traded Williams for Bowman, in a roundabout way :) Looking at depth now though, I see this: FS-Wright, Manning SS- Harris, Afalava, Payne (not necessarily in order, this spot is wide open) Bullocks will struggle to make the team, and Steltz is definitely gone IMO. Whether or not Bullocks makes it depends on how deep we go at other positions, such as DL or OL. At LB we have: Pisa, Urlacher, Briggs, Roach, Hillenmeyer, Shaw. Thats six, although Shaw is pretty much exclusively a special teamer. Hopefully we stay healthier at LB this year. Pisa and Urlacher missed 29 combined starts last year. I think they are trying to get Shaw on the field more because he was so good on ST. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Matt Mayberry make the team. I don't know anything about Mayberry, but just from a numbers standpoint, that's a lot of LB unless someone else goes. 11 DBs 6 LB 9 DL 7 OL 4 RB 1 FB 3 TE 6 WR 2 QB 1 LS 1 P 1 K That's 52 roster spots there, so you'd have 1 roster spot left. I could easily see another DL and OL, or a 3rd QB if we pick up a vet. Don't think we'd take 7 LB.

I don't see why thats necessary in addition to drafting LeFevour. They're obviously displeased with Hanie and Basanez. I don't know about that. They could conceivably sign a back up veteran, still keep Hanie, have 3 QBs on the roster, and keep LeFevour around on the practice squad. I think I'd prefer to have 2 QBs again, so it comes down to Hanie vs other veteran (I've heard them linked the McCown) as the backup, with LeFevour on the Practice Squad.

J'Marcus Webb - OT Massive OT from a small school. Tice is enamored with him. Maybe he can start in a couple years.

I don't think he will be the main backup. Either Hanie or another vet (McCown is apparently on the radar) will be the #2. LeFevour will have to prove that he is valuable enough as a #3QB to beat out a #7LB or #7CB or something like that. Last year, of course, they only took 2 QB's and if they do that again, I wouldn't imagine LeFevour would be one of them.
