    Whoa, that is the most un-cubbyvirus post ever. I'm not pleased. Overall it looked like a 5 win team. Second half was a zero win team. However, I do think there is room for optimism that this team has growth potential and just the fact that we may get more favorable matchups the rest of the season.

    I guess anything within the ranges of 10 wins or 10 losses is hard to be truely shocking for me in this league.

    well they finished 23rd in pass defense DVOA so it would be a pretty big fall over the last 6 or so games of the season. Maybe just in dumb stats they were up there then... finished 4th in pass yards. I though the advanced stats had liked them too, but I guess not.

    I dont remember how the season ended, but weren't the Bears into Thanksgiving of last year one of the top rated pass defense teams?

    Year one of Tresty, with the shortened Martz year being number 2, at least on a per game basis.

    Yeah. I expected the defense to be much improved. The McPhee situation is a major setback though. He was one of the best pass rushers in the league. Its a setback, but he also missed a lot of time last year, and Houston and Young did a pretty good job filling in. It shouldnt devestate our defense or anything.

    As a Bear? It's pretty much either his best or second best season. Maybe second best. Basically he protected the ball better than he eeverhas, but i wouldnt say it was his best. Seems like they're ready to just pound the ball this year, so we may see him limit TOs again, but Im not expecting to be wowed. If we do make the playoffs it will be on the backs of an improved D in year two of the system.

    The defense made some pretty big upgrades. And last season was not Cutlers best.

    Well I guess your jokes fell flat. But yes, it sucks to see White on the injury report and our DC saying our other top 10 pick is coming off a rocky TC. I've liked a lot of what Pace has done, but both at the time and still, those top 10 picks aren't inspiringy confidence.

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/chi/2015_roster.htm There's some decent room for injury unluck while still producing lineups that put up a better record than a 2015 team that was competitive in most of their games. And do Fox's injury reports carry that much weight?

    I don't think any of us knows how much they got better by. How often is it that the crappy teams who "win the offseason" are actually the crappy teams with the biggest turnarounds? Like last year, i expect competitive games each week.

    Update. About halfway through my commish figured out how to pause the draft and I was given Dez for $80. For reference Antonio Brown went for $71. By that time, that extra 72 back wasn't too helpful as most good players were gone. Also my first pick after was a homer throwaway for Cutler.

    I don't see how that is true. The major downfall to any win expectancy is injury to key players. There is no corollary to that on the upside. If 8-8 is a baseline, then some things working out better than expected may take them to 10-6 but things working out worse than expected plus a Cutler injury and you can rack up a lot of losses in a hurry. Well the injury this being true of every team, I guess staying healthy is the corollary upside of every team to that point. The upside for the Bears is probably just coaching + schedule + lucky bounces. Talent + unlucky ball bounces being the other end. Mostly its just the nature of football and how few games there are that the just random luck aspect meaning most teams should have an equal variance to each side of their projection.

    Were probably a 8-8 baseline team, with probably an equal shot to be 5-11 as 11-5. Thats either exciting or terrifying.

    Hes probably better than whats replacing him still, but they have upside at least. And if Dowell is at all decent hell use multi backs and change of pace to his advantage.

    Due to a numpad snafu on my keyboard I will be trying to win my auction fantasy football league with; Jonathan Stewart (keeper $18) Sammy Watkins (keeper $17) Dez Bryant ($152) Whoever i can get for one dollar. Any pointers on deep sleepers and under the rsdar keepers?
