at middle linebacker And DL. Aka our weakest spots.

As a Bear? It's pretty much either his best or second best season. Maybe second best. Basically he protected the ball better than he eeverhas, but i wouldnt say it was his best. Seems like they're ready to just pound the ball this year, so we may see him limit TOs again, but Im not expecting to be wowed. If we do make the playoffs it will be on the backs of an improved D in year two of the system.
  3. WrigleyField 22
The defense made some pretty big upgrades. And last season was not Cutlers best.

Well I guess your jokes fell flat. But yes, it sucks to see White on the injury report and our DC saying our other top 10 pick is coming off a rocky TC. I've liked a lot of what Pace has done, but both at the time and still, those top 10 picks aren't inspiringy confidence.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/chi/2015_roster.htm There's some decent room for injury unluck while still producing lineups that put up a better record than a 2015 team that was competitive in most of their games. And do Fox's injury reports carry that much weight?
  6. WrigleyField 22
competitive is realistic, unless white, long and fuller all can't play Unlike last year where Jeffrey, Forte, McPhee were out for stretches?
  7. WrigleyField 22
I don't think any of us knows how much they got better by. How often is it that the crappy teams who "win the offseason" are actually the crappy teams with the biggest turnarounds? Like last year, i expect competitive games each week.

Who's doing office pick 'em survival pool? I went boring this week and chose Seahawks.

Update. About halfway through my commish figured out how to pause the draft and I was given Dez for $80. For reference Antonio Brown went for $71. By that time, that extra 72 back wasn't too helpful as most good players were gone. Ended up with QB Jay Cutler Chicago Bears $1 RB Jonathan Stewart Carolina Panthers $18 RB Duke Johnson Jr. Cleveland Browns $8 RB/WR Donte Moncrief Indianapolis Colts $13 WR Sammy Watkins Buffalo Bills $17 WR Dez Bryant Dallas Cowboys $80 TE Coby Fleener New Orleans Saints $7 D/ST Seahawks D/ST Seattle Seahawks $3 K Graham Gano Carolina Panthers $2 BE Tyrod Taylor Buffalo Bills $2 BE Frank Gore Indianapolis Colts $7 BE Danny Woodhead San Diego Chargers $8 BE Jordan Matthews Philadelphia Eagles $7 BE DeSean Jackson Washington Redskins $4 BE Jameis Winston Tampa Bay Buccaneers $6 BE Allen Hurns Jacksonville Jaguars $8 All in all not awful, but not how I've typically ran my auctions as i was basically just overbidding on WR/RB 4 types. Also my first pick after was a homer throwaway for Cutler.

I don't see how that is true. The major downfall to any win expectancy is injury to key players. There is no corollary to that on the upside. If 8-8 is a baseline, then some things working out better than expected may take them to 10-6 but things working out worse than expected plus a Cutler injury and you can rack up a lot of losses in a hurry. Well the injury this being true of every team, I guess staying healthy is the corollary upside of every team to that point. The upside for the Bears is probably just coaching + schedule + lucky bounces. Talent + unlucky ball bounces being the other end. Mostly its just the nature of football and how few games there are that the just random luck aspect meaning most teams should have an equal variance to each side of their projection.
  11. WrigleyField 22
Were probably a 8-8 baseline team, with probably an equal shot to be 5-11 as 11-5. Thats either exciting or terrifying.
  12. WrigleyField 22
Hes probably better than whats replacing him still, but they have upside at least. And if Dowell is at all decent hell use multi backs and change of pace to his advantage.
  13. WrigleyField 22
And I was just about to order my Gould jersey. Damn.
  14. WrigleyField 22
Due to a numpad snafu on my keyboard I will be trying to win my auction fantasy football league with; Jonathan Stewart (keeper $18) Sammy Watkins (keeper $17) Dez Bryant ($152) Whoever i can get for one dollar. Any pointers on deep sleepers and under the rsdar keepers?
  15. WrigleyField 22
Work his way up to like 90 seconds and thats a hobbling walk off trot around the bases.
  16. WrigleyField 22
Well you don't break up that second line, right? Hossa taking on a diminished role? Vesey-Toews-Panik/Hossa Panarin-Amnisimov-Kane I'd have to look at the roster again to put together a 3rd line Hockey for Dummies question here, bit how strict are the sides for a winger? Hossa and Panik are both listed at RW, but most line projections I've seen currently gave them both in the top line. As far as the bottom two lines, I think Kruger safely fits into the third C role. After that, it seems like just throwing a bunch of guys out there and seeing what sticks.

Huh, that dude is a realtor and kept sending me stuff after I toured an open house. Didnt know he was an NHL Sirius radio guy which Google confirms to me. I was really confused at first why he was the source if this news.
  19. WrigleyField 22
Do they run 9.81 or 9.89?
  20. WrigleyField 22
Jay Buttler! *5 year old attempting insult.
  21. WrigleyField 22
I had no idea who Butler was. Didnt know they were doing joint practice with the Pats.
  22. WrigleyField 22
if i remember correctly (which i easily might not) i think we traded down after mcnabb got taken (since that's who we really wanted)...does that sound right? No idea, that was the first time I really remember watching the draft though and I'm sure I would have loved anyone they picked.
  23. WrigleyField 22
I was super excited about Cade lol. Also the real bad part of Cade is we traded down and Culpepper went right before him. Not that i have any idea who the Bears actually liked, but still, he was available at our original slot.
  24. WrigleyField 22
totally disagree... 96-2000 bears. lasted longer and were worse. as far as embarrassment and bumbling around (which i'm guessing is where you have trestman winning), there was plenty between the clearly worst mccaskey, not having a GM, curtis enis, cade, etc. they were a pathetic joke of a team. The wanny years were just no talent. Its a tough call. As much Trestman just ended up being a huge embarrassment, there were way more entertaining players to watch, at least on offense, than anything those late 90's teams had.

It was still formative sports years for me, but 1996 Atlanta Gymnastics team competition got me liking gymnastics.
