  1. So I decided to play around with the fanspeak Manage the Cap and On The Clock Re-Signed Alshon Jeffery, WR Ted Larsen, OG Brian Hoyer, QB Cornelius Washington, DL Deonte Thompson, WR Connor Shaw, QB Bringing back Jeffery is a must if we want any chance at decent offense next year. Thompson and Washington are good ST and depth guys. Larsen a good OL depth guy. Not much else worth keeping after this. (Cut - Cutler, Houston, Royal) FA Signings DJ Swearinger, S Dontari Poe, NT Melvin Ingram, OLB Logan Ryan, CB Kai Forbath, K Mychal Rivera, TE -Honestly, felt a bit unrealistic, even with all the money they have to burn. But getting another top notch rusher to go with our current group, filling two secondary gaps, and a big time DL... all would be great gets. Hindsight though, the big money Poe will command probably wouldnt be worth it and you could get a couple mid range guys at positions like WR, S, CB, and DL. Rivera is a decent young TE. Looked at WR and couldn't come to terms with any, but adding one, particularly one to stretch the field, would be my goal. Probably would look for some other depth signings as well (RB, OT, LB, DL). The Draft 3: QB Mitch Trubisky, North Carolina -What can I say, I'm coming around. Could still be Watson. Or no QB at all. Lots of time left to figure out this pick. 36: CB Cordrea Tankersley, Clemson -Good value and the size Fangio likes to see... should be plenty of good CB prospects around at this slot... 67: OT Roderick Johnson, Florida State -Projection pick here. Nice and long frame and can run block, just needs some time and coaching. 109: WR Juju Smith-Schuster, USC -Fit wise, not exactly what you'd say we need in a WR. Still the value felt right. 115: OLB Daeshon Hall, Texas A&M -Sure, not the edge rusher you want from Texas A&M, but always good to add some pass rush prospects 148: LB Connor Harris, Lindenwood -The small school guy may project as a special teamer and reserve, but gotta love the production, all time NCAA tackles leader 224: OLB/DE Trey Hendrickson, Florida Atlantic -Another good production guy. Might be an akward 3-4 scheme fit, but get him on board and plan to stash him on the Practice squad while you try and figure it out. Projected 53 man/depth (bubble players/camp bodies/PS) QB Brian Hoyer, Mitch Trubisky, (Connor Shaw) RB Jordan Howard, Jeremy Langford, Ka'Deem Carey, (Bralon Addison, David Cobb) FB (Paul Lasike) WR Cameron Meredith, Juju Smith Shuster, Deonte Thompson, (Reuben Randle) WR Alshon Jeffery, Kevin White, Josh Bellamy, (Daniel Braverman) TE Zach Miller, Mychal Rivera, Daniel Brown, (Mycole Pruitt, Ben Braunecker) LT Charles Leno Jr., Roderick Johnson LG Josh Sitton, Ted Larsen C Cody Whitehair (Hroniss Grasu) RG Kyle Long, Eric Kush, (Cornelius Edison) RT Bobby Massie, Mike Adams DE Eddie Goldman, Cornelius Washington, Jonathan Bullard NT Dontari Poe, Will Sutton, (CJ Wilson) DE Akiem Hicks, Mitch Unrein (Ego Ferguson) OLB Melvin Ingram, Willie Young, Daeshon Hall OLB Pernell McPhee, Leonard Floyd, (Trey Hendrickson) ILB Jerrell Freeman, Connor Harris, (Christian Jones) ILB Nick Kwiatkoski, Danny Trevathan*, John Timu (Jonathan Anderson) CB Logan Ryan, Cre'Von LeBlanc, Bryce Callahan, (Kyle Fuller) CB Cordrea Tankersly, Tracy Porter, Deiondre' Hall, (Sherrick McManis, Jacoby Glenn) S DJ Swearinger, Harold Jones-Quartey, (Demontre Hurst) S Adrian Amos, Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson K Kai Forbath P Pat O'Donnell LS Patrick Scales *counting Trevanthan as PUP
  2. jasad benchward JASON\ HEYVVAP\D
  3. Good negotiation tactic.
  4. Bears sign Kush to a 2 year deal. http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago-bears/post/_/id/4704903/bears-sign-ol-eric-kush-to-two-year-contract
  5. From an ESPN article; Nah.
  6. Is there any thought that if they ever actually implemented this rule it would be for regular season only at least? Not that I'd like it in any form, but the argumemts for it seem espeially weak in the context of playoffs.
  7. I'll... take the retool. No, the rebuild, the draft history is not bad... but the retool fix seems more straight forward :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:
  8. One of thew few owners who was a bonified fan. It's unfortunate he never got that World Series win. Indeed. I was rooting for them in the WS back in 2006, like the rest of us. He did seem like one of the few genuine, friendly good owners in an age where there seem to be more bad (if not evil) owners overall. PS -- All that said, "Little Caesars" is really horsefeathers, low-grade pizza. Shouldn't be proud of founding that restaurant chain... Um I'm not gonna criticize "low grade" pizza thats ready for me on demand for $5. Sorry not sorry.
  9. All that can't be a coincidence. Oh wait, yes it can. FTH is this English reduction system where Chicago and Chicago Cubs adds up to the same number? One was reduction and the other ordinal? I dont know I think ordinal is just A=1, B=2, etc. But I already wasted 10 minutes of my life watching him, so certainly am not gonna try fact checking the lunatic. I like that Bill Murray was so significant though. I guess Jon Cusak and Eddie Vedder came out to a totally unrelated numbers, so he had to keep looking.
  10. Is the coin flip that much of a factor now, with the flip winning team needing a TD to end it? What about the concept of a game that ends in a tie just continues as if the end of the 4th was the same as the end of the 1st or 3rd? If you tie it on a last second play, you kick off to the other team to start 5th QTR and its' now first team to score wins. I really hate getting hung up on the "fairness" question in OT because that never takes into account that both teams had the same exact chance to win in regulation. If you lose in OT you put yourself in a position to lose in OT by not winning in regulation. Agreed with most of this. Also, I'm not sure the stats back up the assertion that the coin flip is so important. I think I read that the winning team on the coin flip was about 50/50.
  11. I cant believe I just watched that whole thing. What a sad sad man.
  12. Then just end the game in a tie. Or go super gimicky and end it with a HR derby.
  13. You said there's nothing baseball can do to make it appealing to people who don't like it. I think there are things baseball can do to win over some of these people. Eh, I agree with him on this. Think about how lame hockey is and how much of an uphill battle it would be to give a horsefeathers about it. I mean, the opportunity is definitely marginal, and not about bringing in a whole new fan, but bringing back disinterested fans. So, like finding ways to boost overall offense... introducing competetive balance measures... things like that. I dont think some gimicky thing like extra innings rule would do that.
  14. what the what? why is there any interest in completely overhauling the game in extras? Extra innings are not an issue. I'm amazed anyone has actually ever taken the time to think through these "solutions"
  15. tie should be ranked somewhere in the 50-75 range on that list, 1 spot ahead of wherever the NFL ends Nah.
  16. Pretty sure there's a few dozen of these guys every offseason. It's just that nobody really notices it unless they make a stop or 2 with their team. Its the two stops/DFAs with two different teams thats pretty funny.
  17. This is dumb http://deadspin.com/sports-overtime-rules-ranked-1750359651 All the truths up in this link.
  18. Man I kind of feel bad for David Rollins. I bet you he's also always the Bridesmaid, and never the Bride. Or something
  19. not Denver, but if he goes to Houston, I'm a Texan fan for lyfe. Yea, he aint going to Denver, but I'd love it because all the Broncos fans I know hate him and are generally kinda smug dicks about it.
  20. I completely agree. I was going to suggest extra period/quarter a couple pages back. The college guaranteed possession is too wimpy, the sudden death format combined with ever more offensive-biased rules are too arbitrary. An entire 15minute quarter gives everyone ample opportunity and keeps the clock component, which adds excitement. The time component is a whole hell of a lot less exciting in a sport with 40 seconds between action and frequent 2 minute commercial breaks. Then the possibility of additional overtimes as teams match eachother? Nah
  21. Missing Goldman and McPhee, with Freeman being gone for 4 games, Floyd, Kwiatkowski, and Bullard being rookies. Basically, looking at it, Hicks and Freeman are elite players. Goldman and Floyd are potential elite. McPhee and Young are solid. The front seven is fine. If they suffer a rash of injuries, it won't look great. Injuries are gonna happen, and they arent that deep. Also not sure Id call Hicks elite. At times he plays at an elite level, but he hasnt been consistent throughout his career. And then Freeman, who is elite, is over 30. So is our front seven the biggest need? No, but they should look to add some pieces.
  22. Not a bad solution, but I would think it would involve the players playing more than they do now on average. Also- not likely a popular opinion, but why have any overtime in the regular season. Just have ties.
  23. I can definitely understand the appeal of not playing the full period in the regular season. As far as the playoffs, seems you have a really good chance of just continually adding periods on top of eachother as teams match the other and the clock expires. I think you can kind of even keep it simpler than UMFans proposal. "First to 8". No clock, just the play clock. why in the world would you do that? Its adds to the liklihood that each team has at least one chance to posses the ball, while adding the excitement/intrigue of two point conversions. I don't care of they keep it as is really, though. ETA, I also personally like the sinplicity of something like "First to 8" instead of the complex, "if/unless" series of qualifiers that exists. So actually I kind of would prefer plain old sudden death to the current rules.
