You answered why earlier. You basically announced yourself in a way that made it clear to most yours wasn't a mind that was changing (though what would be the point after Nov 9 anyways). People stated their opposition. Why would we try to understand your bad opinion rather than just calling it out and moving on? -
it's a 5 man group and their big money guy keeps getting injured. They should be adding to it every draft. They were decent in the mid-2000s and let it stagnate so it declined in a hurry. They've been fairly focused on it and they should remain focused on it as an area for improvement. In the latter rounds, through trade, and free agency, but not with a top pick. Leno was a 7th round pick and he's graded out as average by PFF, that's still a good value. And he'll have to be resigned in a year. Then he may cease to be a value when not on a rookie deal. Its definitely a position to watch, especially because a lot of other needs look like decent bets to fill via FA.

OT just looks like it will be a poor value proposition in both draft and FA, at least as far as impact for next year. Yea they may be able to get a development guy in day 3, but the top of the draft looks weak, as do FA starters. Who knows what happens though. Maybe Cam Robinson drops to 36 and its suddenly a good value proposition even if there are bigger immediate needs.

Frankly, I'm surprised by the default unwilllingness to discuss seriously any POV coming from a conservative, but that's probably because I'm a foreigner. I dont know. I've seen plenty of well thought out responses from the"liberal wing" here over the years. The typical response I see though is someone like jehr shut down as soon as facts or POV are presented. It may be an echo chamber, but most opposite view points over the years made that decision before they posted and didnt want to stick around to be the counter point. -

No, not really. It's time to get over it. What's dumb is acting like one of those two was a saint who was going to fix all of our problems while the other was a knuckle dragger. They were both terrible candidates. No, this is idiotic. One was a competent if morally questionable candidate while the other is a completely incompetent piece of horsefeathers with nothing resembling a moral compass and unprecedented corruption capabilities. There is no equivalency here. Trump is garbage, Clinton was fine. Stop being an idiot. It was like the choice between a turd sandwich and a toothpaste sandwich. Neither was goimg to fulfill us, yet the choice should have been clear, and at least somewhat resemebled a good thing. -

Eh if there is a sport that is going to have Trump supporters, its baseball. Baseball and football. Football will have a few more college graduates, even if they're fake degrees. Even amongst the white guys that should help tilt the scales a bit. -

A full on soccer/basketball collision may be just as hard on the head as the biggest of football ones, but football adds on a lot of little ones on top of that AND has an ingrained culture about "toughing it out" that just makes it extra reckless in the wrong hands. Probably harder considering there's no pads to "protect" themselves in those sports. It also happens a lot less often and usually you don't see the same person getting concussed over and over. Basketball concussions can be bad too because their cushion when the fall is hardwood instead of grass. You are operating in the rarer occassions there, but theres going to be some risk in any contact sport.

I had a convo at a birthday party with a dad in town who coaches one of the catholic middle school teams, and his rants about the "pussfication of America" really put me at unease about the safety of the kids on his team.

Upside = good black QB. Downside = bad black QB. No chance = good white QB. I really tried to think of non color based examples haha. It was QBs who made a lot of plays with their legs v those who don't. Notice the lack of Byron Leftwich with the former group. That would have been the give away.

Question for everyone... how early does tackle football starts in your area? It's now 7th grade around here. Back when I was in school, it was 5th/6th grade. I guess they scrap that a few years ago. I don't blame you doing that for your son. My cousin's husband who played for Wisconsin-Whitewater (right before they got amazing) said he won't let his son play football until high school and only if his son can convince him. And as far as I know, he didn't have any concussions or injuries in UW-W, but know buddies that are still feeling the effects. It's going to be interesting because the son is 3 and he's like 3' tall and 50 lbs or something crazy. I know my nephew played in 6th grade and that was catholic school league. He didnt go back out for 7th grade (hes much more into soccer) Not sure when the pop warner or other leagues start. I started as a 4th grader back in the day, and some kids had started as 3rd graders. I think I'm in the start in HS boat. I dont want to encourage it for sure. But I honestly still do enjoy following HS football, but will probably have to stop when I have kids to not even give a hint that I'm encouraging it for them.

he was good when he was playing, but that injury will have him out at least first half of the season. i read 6-9 month recovery...tho it could still be a while after coming back before he's fully right on the field. but even on the long end of that time table, you're talking late preseason return to action. Most of what I've read has said he could end up on the PUP list. Either way, Kwiatkowski looks suitable to fill in if needed, but also perfectly fine being the primary backup.

what's that now? Hoyer and Barkley saw pretty clean pockets (10 sacks). Only Cutler, who historically isn't great at avoiding pressure, saw a lot of sacks (17 in half the number of starts). I believe the advanced stuff like hurries/pressure show this too, but am too lazy to pull up. In other words, we shouldnt expect any of our QBs to become road kill i.e. David Carr on expansion era Texans.

I'm not as high on our line as sulley is, but it certainly won't be a David Carr situation. 2 of our 3 QBs this year managed to not get killed.

So the upside isn't 39 year old Manning, Brady, Montana still doing their thing. The upside is Donavan McNabb? Downside VY, RG3, Culpepper? I think that may me appropriate risk at 3 in a draft where there is only 1 premier prospect at another premier position.

So tantalizing, yet the odds of it working out successfully are low. He wouldn't last 3 seasons with the style of play I saw in limited doses last night. If you can't slide you can't survive. The odds of finding a good QB are low. Need a bettter reason. I think its weird the two names that keep getting brought up are Vince Young and Johnny Manziel. Neither if those guys were talked up in the intangible department like Watson is. Its also easy to forget that at times, Vince Young WAS a tantalizing real life NFL QB, just a bit spotty and short lived. If VY is the bust side of Watson... that's not awful risk.

I was actually underwhelmed with Watson at times last night, but him QBing the Bears for the next decade is all I can think about now. Someone walk me off the ledge.

If Watson gets a 6 on the wonderlic, we definitely shouldn't draft him. In any round.

Doug Marrone sticking around in Jacksonville. This seems to make Bortles future a bit more secure, which is relevant since they'll be jumping ahead of the Bears in Rd 2 and 4.

I kind of like the Taylor idea, but I do think you are putting somewhat of a cap on your offense. That said, it should be a low turnover offense, so you just need to invest heavily in your D and try and win games that way. But you still have to find a way to put resources into your offense including a long term answer at QB.

Kelly had some pretty interesting criticism of Taylor that makes me wonder what they realistically want to replace them. Drafting someone at 10 has to be it right? Romo to Denver. Cutler to Arizona? Garrapolo maybe stays put.
