Yes and no, to start the season. The team is generally healthy, so you're going to have up to 7 healthy scratches on game day. If that healthy scratch was say, Ben Braunecker or Mark Sanchez does it matter? No, and you can keep Braunecker on PS. Now midseason if the team is banged up... They may find they can't field a healthy 46 from their 53, and they may cut Sanchez to get a healthy 46 on game day. Isn't the number 3 QB a "free inactive?" Meaning they don't count against the 46 man game roster and can play in the event of injuries to the first two. Wasn't in 45 active on gameday recently? I didn't realize it went up to 46 Yep, they got rid of the emergency QB rule. So if you want to dress 3 QBs that's just your 46th man now.

My guess is he'd have to be pretty damn terrible to lose the job in the first 4-6 games. Pace is probably hoping for sustained mediocrity and losing games by less than a TD (the John Fox specialty). In the weeks coming up to the bye week, that will be when not being good enough to win will risk Glennon's job, as the bar will be raised. I think a couple multi interception games could doom him. But some Hoyer-like, ball protection, 14 point performances keeps him safe for a while. -
i mean it's been said like 100x that sanchez wasn't really here to play, but to be a guy in the meeting room to mentor about what it's like to suck in the nfl and blah blah blah. his relationship with prescott last year has been brought up a lot too. i think it's a load of horsefeathers but clearly they believe he has value in that role as basically a coach under the guise of a fellow player. for whatever reason I hadn't heard that. seems stupid to waste a 53 man roster spot on a mentor but whatever. yep Where are you seeing this? Keep in mind, the 53 from today likely won't match 53 on opening day.

Regular season starts in 6 weeks it starts in mid october? what? Yea, they pushed up the season start to accommodate more rest, so they could penalize teams resting stars.

He didn't do anything to stand out, even amongst our rag tag group. I think we could find better production after cuts. Failing that, I'd rather develop Gentry or Davis.

yeah, I think Fangio is the next HC of this team anyway. I theoretically hate the idea of trying to force a DC on a new HC like we did with arians/marinelli, but I'd much rather hire someone offensive minded and retain fangio as DC. fangio doesn't really strike me as HC material either. hell, i'm open to the idea that loggains might be a competent coach after the way he made a couple horsefeathers QBs look decent last year (moving the ball...horsefeathers QBs and horsefeathers skill players aren't going to get you in the end zone much no matter how well you scheme) and I have liked how he has called plays in the preseason (well prior to the bizarre things that happened yesterday but yesterday's game is meaningless)....all of that is to say i think i'd rather see loggains elevated to HC than fangio, but i reserve the right to determine that a few months from now. but yeah, option a is hire someone else altogether and i'd love if they could pull off keeping fangio around. would love payton. I'd have to agree. If Loggains runs a good O this year, especially if it's with Trubisky running it a good chunk of the time, might as well just promote him right on up. If Loggains continues to look average, just start the slate clean, even if you lose Fangio as DC in the process.

Well the defense ran by the d bag Gregg Williams late hit our future at QB. Knowing he was d coordinator should have been enough to keep Trubisky out, glad he came away unscathed. Wonder what the bounty on Mitchell was?

I remember NO being mentioned as a salary cap dump team earlier in the off-season. Thought whatever they were trying to clear space for had passed though.

well i mean this is a different conversation. assuming both are willing to take a backup QB role, both should be on rosters. that's pretty much the end of this. they're both way more talented enough for that role. so either they don't want to be a back-up and are refusing to sign in that capacity or they should have been signed by like 80 percent of teams yesterday. either way, i'm sick of it all. what he did was a peaceful protest. members of our armed forces have come out time and time again and said they have no issues and that is why they chose to do what they do - to protect that freedom. RGIII was pretty bad last year. I mean in theory I guess he's still a top 90 QB, but teams probably would rather take a chance on a younger healthier guy to hang around the bottom of the roster. Kapernick is borderline starter QB, and while I can get around why he didn't land a starter or even open QB competition roll like the Jets (as there aren't many to begin with), his price has dropped enough that the other factors should have taken over, and the ugly beast this controversy has become makes it even less likely.

Yea, I think part of the whole blackball term is a sticking point to some, as it conjures up hidden meetings with shadowy NFL owner representatives colluding together. It certainly has hurt him. Fit has hurt him to to some extent. If a third of all teams are a bad fit offense wise and a third of all teams have superior depth at their top two spots, it leaves the question about the remaining third teams. Like if Dallas is in that latter third group, we know Kapernick is not going to be cleared by ownership. Probably the Bears too. And that has gotten it to the point for some teams that have kicked around the idea, like Baltimore, to say "let's gauge public reaction to this", which undoubtedly is hurting his chances.

I liked them, but I like the new alternates better. I almost wish they were our primaries, though I still like the regular ones too. I think I'm gonna buy a Trubisky alternate as soon as I see one for sale. I don't remember Urlacher making a fuss about the orange ones, but who knows. Yea the current alternates are way better than the orange ones.

Yes, I know that's what the Royals have been doing. You were asking if people could "withhold the meatballery" if the Cubs had done the same thing. Yeah meatballery would not be flipping out about a stretch of offense that bad. Meatballery would be suggesting that we fire Joe, gut the team and start over because the current group is toast. Well 20 years was hyperbole, but was also a longer point about the value of drafting QB early. That seems the be the part you don't really get, Trubisky aside.

Everyone knows sulley is a crazy blowhard (only my teams!), but he wears it on his sleeve. Your measured response is concern that Trubisky isn't Andrew Luck as a prospect.
