Brilliant. there's more than one round to the draft...so you'd be moving up every pick. not that this even needs to be a consideration for this to be an obvious choice. A 2, 3, 5, and 6. Call it a 10 slot swing. It's like the value of a mid-late 3rd, net. I'll take the wins and a playoff game.

In either scenario I have years 2-4 of cheap Fields going forward. In one scenario I have a supporting cast that went to the playoffs with horsefeathering Andy Dalton. The other scenario is a bottom 10 team with whats a top 15 passer. And a 4-5 game win spread. The "certainty" of answering what Fields is is worth almost nothing. FYI other past QB ROY include guys like RG3, Vince Young, and Sam Bradford.

Not sure if less money is true. Anyways they just waived a guy to make room. The Bulls had the BAE to use for that roster spot which I believe is close to $4m. Not sure what Millsaps contract is, but I would guess the Nets didn't have a lot of options for signing him so it would be a smaller deal Edit: Maybe the Nets also had their BAE I'm not sure. I think the Nets didn't have the BAE, but at his experience I think his min is still 2.6M compared to a 3.6M BAE. I'd be a little surprised if Aldridge was a real contender for a BAE contract from the Bulls, but same deal, not a huge difference.

Interesting perspective, although notably they did run out the bad OLine bad QB play last season when they went 8-8. Granted they were a lucky 8-8, but 12th in conference is pretty low. But also, yea the schedule does them no favors. I do think they have a pretty wide band of likely outcomes compared to what's probably typical. It wouldn't take much fir it all to unravel apart, which has a lot to do with how Pace has built the roster the past couple years especially.

I think I like the overton window being moved away from service time as a metric, and my guess is this gets more money to younger players which would be good. As an ownership proposal I'm sure it doesn't add up to the right amounts, but age-guaranteed FA with more money paid to pre-FA players is a loose idea I could see leading to a better result than the current system. This is interesting I'm trying to think whether this would help or hurt late bloomers. Teams like the Cubs keep taking a shot at guys like Wisdom with the hopes that they breakout late and then they have team control over them for a few years. If Wisdom is 29 years old do the Cubs sign him knowing that even in the unlikelihood of Wisdom breaking out, he will be a FA after the season and could easily be outbid for him? On the flip side, those late bloomers will very likely never have a real shot at FA so the ones that breakout will never hit their earning potential. Obviously any system that isn't a totally open market is going to have unintented consequences. Random idea, let players just buy out arbitration years. For the vast majority of players the buyout will be too punitive to be worth it. For top tier players they'll make it back in the difference between arb salary and FA dollars. The buyout would go down over time based on age, so that the late bloomers have a reasonable buyout team and teams get a cash benefit if they find a late bloomer who buys out his 30+ afb years which would be very cheap.

I mean every year I think it's tradition for Bears fans to overhype a 6th WR, but Adams did seem like he earned a spot. I'm sure he'll clear waivers and land on the PS.

So Trevathan and Jenkins to IR. Perriman and Burns to the 53 man. But they also apparently got a waiver claim on a WR/KR from the 49ers, so we'll see at least one more cut/waive or IR to finish that claim. Eyes on ILB or TE I assume.

I’m the guy that stated without a doubt the Bears are more or less the Cowboys the past 25 years but don’t get nearly enough credit for it. At least nowhere near the credit the Cowboys get for whatever reason they get a ton more praise. I’ve got to work on my brand recognition if this is the thing people believe about me. *nearly enough credit* just means the Cowboys have gotten too much credit right? Stylistically very different though. The 2 Cowboys QBs in the 21st century would be both in top 3 of Bears QBs all time.

At least one spot is going to open up with an Jenkins IR. Thats gotta be a CB. And I imagine they'll be active on cuts from other teams. Maybe trying to work out some trades still? The ILB and CB numbers are way crazier than 5 WR/5 TE. I literally don't even know who Caleb Johnson is lol.

Well at this point, I'm expecting Cohen to be PUP and out the first 6 weeks at least. Haven't heard any update. I think Byrd and Goodwin are fine as replacements for Miller. While Miller showed flashes he was pretty inconsistent, didn't seem terribly smart, and has continually had shoulder issues. Not expecting much from Adams, but if Fields is a star we'll eventually get to regularly experience that thrill of no name WR becoming household names and solid contributors. Even with Cohen still out, the RB room looks deeper too. Really I think all the skill groups got deeper. It's on Kmet and Mooney (and perhaps Montgomery) to elevate their games to improve the high end. I'm very high on Mooney personally. Less so on Kmet and Montgomery, but if one of those 3 had a huge breakout year, the other two would be fine as is, probably.

I just can't allow myself to do that. The neighborhood kids are all now becoming Sox fans and saying the Cubs suck because in their tiny insignificant lives their worldview is whatever is cool now. 2 years ago, all the neighborhood kids had Cubs shirseys on. While ultimately I'll let them root for whoever they want to, I'm going to try my hardest to steer them to my teams before they get old enough to think its cool to like whoever their dad hates. Let the kids experiment with sports teams until about age 10, but then it's time to stick to a favorite team.

Because I have children now so I need to raise them Bears fans because disappointment is part of life and being disappointed in the Bears is a great way to learn how to cope.

So I am joining a new league this year, which is a keeper league where the keeper value is based on the round they were drafted. In my other long term league we do auction/keeper and I'm able to set the auction value ahead of time so the ESPN draft automates all the keepers. Its easy and great. These guys are saying that there is no way for ESPN to automate keepers by round. So we just have to manually select keepers live during the draft and they run into issues with their draft because people will mess it up and try and select a keeper, causing the draft to be paused and even unwound in some cases. Is this accurate? ESPN hasn't figured out a Keeper-by-round format for their snake drafts? This is the most inefficient nonsense I've ever heard.
