  1. nah... i do have stuff that i should be doing... i'm just choosing not to do it. don't feel like looking at the standings again, though.
  2. Out of curiosity, does that mean the Cubs have actually played under their pythag record for the year? Yup...the Cubs are presently 2 games below their pythag.
  3. pee wee herman has a new release coming out
  4. yea, he had that awesome sunday night sports show.
  5. yea, I had to look up who the other guy in wham was
  6. yea, they were brothers, but whatever... george, meet andrew
  7. johnson, meet johnson
  8. I'd also be interested in seeing what all of his DL trips were about, because I have heard that a few of them weren't pitching-arm related (i.e. shoulder/elbow type stuff). Don't know where I can find that info without too much effort, though.
  9. Harden is actually more of a strikeout pitcher now than he ever was before in his career. I wonder if it's a coincidence that it has come at the same time as a new, more-limited (but different) repertoire that is supposed to put less of a strain on his arm. He might actually be more durable now with the splitter out and the slider mostly out. It's sort of ironic that that's what might also be causing him to throw more pitches in fewer innings, though.
  10. Or 2B, 3B, CF, or C. I'll take my chances with a few sluggers, a few of great hitters (by my definition), and a few singles hitters over 8 Dunns, especially if they have to play the field. The 8 Dunns would score 18 runs one game and score nothing for the next two games as they strike out 20 times in each game. i never get this argument that a lineup full of dunns (or whatever strikeout prone slugger) would be inconsistent. is it based just on the fact that he strikes out a lot? because that would be stupid. That's because it's wrong.
  11. The history of starters starting on short rest is bad. I want nothing to do with it. And, personally, I'd rather go to Harden for game 2 for the reasons SSR mentioned and for the fact that I'd rather have Harden pitch a second time (in a deciding game) if it came down to it. Dempster has been great this year, no doubt, but, out of the two, I'm more confident in Harden. And there'd be nothing wrong with potentially starting an NLCS off with Demp.
  12. So.....when the hell is the next round of bidding or whatever the next step in the process is? They're being awfully quiet for something that's supposed to get done by mid-late fall.
  13. To be fair, though, last year's team did play like a 96 win team after completely crapping the bed for the first two months. I'm still not sure why the hell they started off so bad, but it wasn't exactly a pushover team. This year's is significantly better, though, especially in some key areas.
  14. lol yea, it's terrible right now btw, that second bolded part is a terrible argument and it's one of the reasons why people have continued to do stupid things throughout history. So your saying it's just a big coincedence that every manager in the modern era of the game has batted their best hitters 3-5? And nothings terrible right now, Im just saying the rather than take D-Lee and his great defense but mediocre but not horrible offense should not be taken out of the lineup, just moved down, unless its a Sammy thing where the manager is scared to take him out of his comfort zone, and I cant see Lou worrying about that. A coincidence? No. The result of flawed logic? Perhaps.
  15. http://windycityfootball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=368&p=10102#p10102 Game thread for tonight at WCFB... would be cool if we got some traffic over there!
  16. you're right though, these changes to the order might make the best offense in the national league better.

  18. It is indescribably awesome to hear the NBA on NBC music.
  19. Just for posterity... The thing is, you posted that AFTER it already happened...
  20. Let's go blue.
  21. OK, I lied... that was one way to end it where I'd love it.
  22. That was unbelievable.
  23. I'm surprised they have that much of a chance... I guess with one run it is kinda dicey. I just figured it'd be a little more of a lock with 3 outs to go.
