  1. So, in other words, the Cubs should win every game they play vs. the NL the rest of the year? They do have the best team top to bottom in the league, right? Well, technically they should, on a one by one basis. Cubs will go 162-0 in 2009. You heard it here.
  2. How does the Cardinals' schedule look the rest of the way? The Cards statistically have a superior offense to the Brewers and their pitching has done well enough. These teams are more even than people think. If the Cards take two here, they have a legit shot. If they don't, as is the subject of this thread, then they're in for a much tougher battle (although not necessarily "dead" if they split).
  3. SERENITY NOW!

  5. too soon idiotic Agreed, Santo's like part man, part machine now. I'd imagine his legs are better. winner
  6. i wasn't serious
  7. wow... you're right... i probably should have done the GIS before I made that remark. Lindsey Lohan has her days (or maybe had, I guess), though... No idea what his wife looks like.
  8. Ha... In 05 he was banging some very average Asian girl I knew from Northwestern. Now he could conceivably have a shot with LiLo (or maybe a 3-some with that DJ chick)... But yea, it would be an upgrade, trust me. And that's not saying as much about Lohan as it is about this other chick. I still don't know WTH he was thinking.
  9. It's already a 2 team race. Color me exceptionally paranoid in this regard, but I'm still worried about the Cards. Can't help myself. That said, obviously, I will be rooting for them tonight. But let's just win and not really have to worry about it. The Cardinals have about 0.5% chance of catching the Cubs. Literally.
  10. too soon
  11. True, but can't you say that about any team? All teams are dangerous if they're hot in the playoffs. As far as in the regular season, I'm not that concerned that they'll catch up to us. It could happen and I'm not saying it definitely won't, but I don't see it happening. Even with the head to head games with Milwaukee, if we only so much as split the 6 games, that's 6 fewer games in which they have to make up 5 games with about a month left. We're definitely sitting pretty, in that sense. If we get swept or lose 5/6, well, then that sucks, but there's more pressure on them in those games than on us. I'm just hoping we can tack a few games onto the lead and clinch decently early to get everything set up.
  12. Go Cards! Sweep would be awesome.
  13. I'm not sure I buy into the Brewer hype. They have two great pitchers (one of whom has been very shaky recently), followed by one or two decent middle of the rotation guys, and a decent bullpen (contrary to popular belief). Team OBP of .327. Granted, they have really good power, but the offense is fairly hit or miss and they're completely mediocre in terms of getting on base (and a little above average at scoring runs). They're a scary playoff team, to be sure, just because of the prospect of seeing those two guys that many times in that few games...but I think people's impressions of them are being misguided by them beating up on a bunch of horsecrap teams lately.
  14. If my calculations are correct, +143 against non-Pirate opponents, still good (by a wide margin) for first in baseball. Not bad. I just remember us blowing out the Pirates A LOT.
  15. I wonder what our PIRD (Pirate Independent Run Differential) is...
  16. yea...we're all a little testy damn dog days.... hope it stays boring, though. ho hum, another 9 run win.
  17. Also nice to see Edmonds with a big night.
  18. That would be amazing. Doubt they'll ever see the light of day, though. Maybe like in 50 years on some HBO special after he's dead and his kids donate the tapes or something. Heh
  19. Regardless of how this season plays out, I am going to buy the DVD of the season recap because it is that special. That would be the first DVD I have bought in 4 years, but the Cubs are so special I would buy it in a heartbeat. Where do you buy those? I am sure the team comes out with some season highlights after the completion of the season of course. When it will come out, I am not sure, but I swear I have seen it offered before... Actually, there's gonna be something better than that this year. A documentary crew has been following the team and documenting the season since ST because they had decided to chronicle the Cubs and the 100 years thing. What an awesomely perfect year for that.
  20. I thought so, but I'm so bad at looking at replays.
  21. They worked wonders with Hill and Wuertz Less Rothschild, more Perry
