A Bulls player has told Comcast SportsNite that Thabo and Rose will be the starting backcourt tomorrow night. So I'm guessing that = C - Gooden PF - TT SF - Deng SG - Thabo PG - Rose I'm guessing that they've figured out that Hinrich isn't a fit at the 2 and I think they'll eventually start Gordon once he gets his feet wet. Or maybe they'll just start Thabo until Hughes is ready, which, unfortunately, isn't looking far away at all anymore. A potential surprise in there would be Gray at C and Gooden at PF, but I don't see it happening.

I honestly think that's very much on the conservative end for Rose. But then again, you have Hinrich going off, so I can't accuse you of being pessimistic. :) With this matchup, I see Rose at least in the upper-teens (17 or so) in terms of points. Hell, I know it's preseason, but he scored 7 in like 5 minutes against them the other day. With the amount of burn I expect him to get, and with the attack style we saw from Rose in the last few games (not to mention the guards he's up against), I just don't see him scoring that few. I'm predicting jitters, plus teams adjusting to him from his preseason performance. I mean the kid is what 19 years old? 20, but fair enough. Dallas was trapping and double teaming him and he still went off for 30... a good amount of it against Kidd/Terry. I mean, this is Luke Ridnour and Michael Redd (and Damon Jones/Lue/Griffin). You have a fair point with the possible jitters, though. They will adjust to him and start clogging the lane to keep him from getting to the basket so easily and making our outside shooters beat them eventually. Don't know if that'll be right away or if they'll make Rose prove it in real games first, but hopefully Noc and Gordon will be up to the task if and when that happens.

I know you're kidding but... he's starting. only because Hughes is out Nah. He'd be starting even if Hughes were in. It's just that Hughes (unfortunately) would be starting along with him.

It's way too early for I told you so's, but with Rose's preseason showing, has this guy changed his stance at all (considering he was using summer league as the be all and end all)?

Figured I'd go with something similar to the Blackhawks thread on this one. Don't have much to say on this game. I'll be in attendance (in the $10 seats). Look for rookie Derrick Rose to continue his aggressive approach on offense from the end of the preseason and light it up in his debut against Luke Ridnour. Gordon is likely to play (but not start) and should provide a boost to our offense, as nobody outside of Nocioni was able to get much going from outside in the preseason.

Forgive me for this noobish question, but why are there still ties in the NHL if they have the overtime + shootout? Isn't the shootout supposed to determine a winner? -
Tyrus had like 4 fouls in the almost 4 minutes he played.

I don't like Kirk. At all. That said, I'd still rather see him out there than Hughes. Hughes is absolutely terrible and has no redeeming qualities. Of course he's going to go off for 20 pts now and then. How can you not when you shoot that much?

This is deflating to hear. I really hope it's a case of severe wishful thinking. Of course this would wind up being some kind of miracle recovery. Why wouldn't it be? I don't wish injury on any player, but Hughes being sidelined sure was convenient.

Ridiculous. Dempster will almost certainly regress from his 2008 numbers, but to declare he'll be another Marquis is a pretty bold and, frankly, absurd statement. It's not like his 2008 was stretched out due to fluke or luck wih him being saved by the defense and such...he kept his walks and home runs way down. His overall numbers over the season are, by and large, excellent. Marquis never had a season like this. The gulf between what you can expect from Marquis and what Dempster did in 2008 is huge. i will gladly eat crow or what have you, but i don't think that will be happening you don't think what will be happening? him not becoming jason marquis?

Apparently Woody is looking for a 3 year deal, and the Cubs, having concerns about his long term health, are reluctant to give it to him. It would suck to lose our best reliever (Marmol) to the overrated closer role. That's probably my biggest problem with this.
