  1. Looks like Danieal Manning has impressed the staff enough to go into camp as the starting free safety.... I'm guessing that (even though they say it's not) this may have something to do with Peanut and the fact that CB will be a bit thin without Graham but who knows.... http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=5951 It didn't make sense all along that Payne and Steltz would play alongside eachother.
  2. mixed feelings on this i really wanted to see second half of 08 favre play for the vikings and that's closer to who i expected to see... but i did have some fear that 2007 - first half of 08 favre would show up and make that team unstoppable on offense
  3. Um... He's not from Mexico. And what does interational mean? Thank you for the correction of the typo, but I'm really quite certain Alfonso Soriano is from Mexico. Have you heard him speak? He definitely speaks Spanish. awesome
  4. I'm gonna have to disagree with what the raw OPS would suggest on this one... a guy hitting a HR every 6 AB would have to be more than borderline productive
  5. I'm betting none. it is oswalt
  6. has carlos lee ever not gone deep off us?
  7. Roy Oswalt http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/400061.jpg 114 ERA+ 1.175 WHIP vs. Ryan Dempster http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/133225.jpg 107 ERA+ 1.372 WHIP Keep it going, effers.
  8. I won 9 in a row last year. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. ;) Meh... Last year was easy.
  9. I'm pretty sure I was the game thread starter for one of our big winning stretches to get back to respectability in 07 too. Just sayin.
  10. Wait...what? Why? I don't think you've seen enough of SZJ's posts. That, or you're interpreting them incorrectly.
  11. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/434643.jpg 153 ERA+ 1.233 WHIP vs. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/407296.jpg 126 ERA+ 1.355 WHIP Let's keep this thing going, plz.
  12. Well this is kind of shameless... I like it. I would like it more if there were more hot girls in the stands today, though...
  13. He was at 75 pitches going into that inning so I'm guessing he's in the 90-100 range right now... EDIT - Yea, 90, duh.
  14. Did you get the impression that they were severely overmatched in the Philly series with two blowout wins in either direction and an extra innings loss? I don't get the idea that they can't reasonably compete with better teams. What does that even mean? Your simplifying my point a bit. Until recently, the Cubs have been basically a .500 team, give or take a few games. They have looked decent at times, and then very bad at others. They need to build on this streak and get healthy. I've seen more bad than good so far to this point to get my hopes up too high. Fair enough. If you want this team to be a dominant 100 win team that steamrolls through the regular season, then that's not really going to happen this year, obviously. A championship, though, is still within reach.
  15. They're competing them with them by doing the same thing those teams are doing: winning series and beating up on the bad teams. No team plays mostly good teams in a season, and bad teams don't consistently beat up on other bad teams: then they wouldn't be bad teams. Im with 100%. It is just my personal opinion that the Cubs still have a ways to go, get Llly/Dempster back and healthy, Soto, etc. before I can be convinced that this team has a good chance of winning something. I'm encouraged by the play as of late, I hope it continues. This team has the pieces, maybe they are starting to fall into place. What they need to have a good chance of winning is the division. Given the fact that they are a half game out of first place at the moment, they obviously have a decent enough chance at doing that. If that's done, they essentially have as good a chance as every other playoff team (and as much of a chance as last year's team had going in to the playoffs) of winning a World Series. Let's not try to make this more complicated than it is.
