  1. i really don't have much concern that ross or this FO (as much as Theo likes Almora) will sabotage this season by allowing almora or some other trash hitters wreck the top of our order (or use it to "get guys out of slumps") theo likes albert's makeup and, yes, talked up his swing changes but he's not an idiot
  2. don't care about ads, don't care about trying to keep long games from happening in this weirdo season, on the fence on expanded playoffs, and hate not having the universal DH for 2021 (but do still have it this year at least) easy net negative for me
  3. But will we, really? If the Cubs win the World Series in a drastically-shortened season, and do it with no fans in the stands, will that feel at all special? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around appreciating such an accomplishment. yes it'll feel horsefeathering great to win another world series now, if this were the curse buster, different story. that would suck. it would be so cleveland for the indians to finally win this year lol
  4. Foles is fine especially considering there's like zero off-season to be able to teach a new guy the offense
  5. man i resisted so many times making a comment about that rizzo's core thing but this thread just keeps popping back up and i just cant do it anymore SPOT TRAINING IS NOT A THING but still great GIF usage
  6. i definitely saw that too Agreed. Now if only they could get him to throw that disgusting Harden changeup, we have something. Harden never had close to the velo that Jensen has. Huh? http://www.wallpaperhi.com/thumbnails/detail/20120226/baseball%20mlb%20oakland%20athletics%201024x768%20wallpaper_www.wallpaperhi.com_30.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Harden It's hard to find pitchFX max velo data from back then but in his early years with oakland he was averaging 94-95 on his fastball as a starter. i definitely remember him hitting the upper 90s with the cubs.
  7. He has some Rich Harden vibes with his delivery/motions and build i definitely saw that too
  8. I feel like Bonds could've pulled off 80 at some point of he'd been pitched to like just a regular superstar instead of an actual deity
  9. I had heard this guy come on WSCR a few times with Dan Bernstein. There's a lot going on in this thread. Worth a read.
  10. can we find some other all around solid SS comp instead of larkin again but not nick ahmed either
  11. Wouldn’t no stride theoretically help with pitch recognition since your eye level is less likely to be changing? Not sure I understand that part. Glad I wasn’t the only one who was confused by Law’s comment. In context I think he's trying to say that while you would think it would at least have that benefit, given the fact that his pitch recognition isn't good, it doesn't even have the benefit of that. weird wording regardless.
  12. The normal % of most prep kids picked in the 1st round, close to 0%. 0% chance he signs, or 0% chance he opts for college? come ON man
  13. if the situation is such that curfews are still necessary a month from now, there are far bigger problems than that.
  14. colombo wound up having a decent career in dallas
  15. And they have used several top 100 picks on interior OL (Long, Daniels, Whitehair, Grasu) while drafting 0 tackles in the top 100. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk This millenium? Carimi and Williams immediately come to mind (not that it changes the overall point)
  16. the dominance of that team was established in the damn 103 win regular season you clod And now name calling. You feeling okay? Quarantine got you down?
  17. it's cool that you totally understand, after all these years on this particular board, that the relative dominance and/or quality of a baseball team can be boiled down to 4 games. it is clear that you have read and learned a lot on here and probably don't spend your time horsefeathers and skimming past all the discussions. We define "dominance" differently. That's ok, you don't have to be right all the time. the dominance of that team was established in the damn 103 win regular season you clod
  18. i'm the opposite. it always feels like a season or two ago to me, even though, say, the 2017 team, feels like a long ass time ago. also, caught myself realizing this today, but the team that turned the corner in 2015...blows my mind that was 5 years ago.

  20. those couple years when they shortened the three point line must've felt like free throws to him
  21. I was at that game and I remember leaving the UC and hearing multiple conversations about who our finals opponent would be. In retrospect it was silly to be confident about beating a team with LeBron, Wade and Bosh after one win but at the time LeBron was still looked at as a choker in big moments and the Heat as being too thin to win a championship. Derrick Rose was so good it was like he could will the Bulls to wins and the bench mob could hold their own in spurts against most starting lineups. Damn I miss those teams. Having no real teams in Chicago that are set up for long term success right now sucks. Not only did they destroy them in game 1, but they had also gone 3-0 against Miami in the regular season. That series was much closer than the 5 game outcome suggested, but whatever. They lost game 4 in overtime and I still can't believe how they blew game 5 at the end.
  22. wait, why nick anderson Nick was part of the flyin' Illini that went to the final four in 1989. well what if i would've hated the illini?!
  23. that was my first year watching sports (pretty much spurred by the jordan comeback) and i was so horsefeathering mad about that. between the nick anderson play and then that, i HATED the magic as much as I've hated any of my teams' rivals since. i imagine the satisfaction i felt at that sweep the next year is the closest thing I have to what people felt about beating detroit in 91. well, if you had started watching in 1989, you would have loved Nick Anderson and Horace Grant . . . wait, why nick anderson
