  1. They wanted to interview and weren't granted permission on either Webster (Japanese descent) or Troy Weaver. So, after that, your complaint is on the throwaway interviews that they didn't throw a minority in? Ok, fine, I guess. I also think it's a huge leap to know what we know about Webster's background and assume that he said, "Nah, I'm good" to an interview for an executive VP of bball ops for the team he grew up a fan of just because John Paxson might still have a title somewhere on the website and get a paycheck. If that's been reported, I've missed it, but as far as I know the Raptors weren't going to let it happen.
  2. That is heavily speculative, at absolute best, unless I missed something.
  3. I do think the token interviews they gave yesterday reached WTF levels like they almost went out of their way to pick the worst people imaginable. Beyond that, I don't really see anything wrong with the search they conducted and how (impressively) quickly they acted. They are also getting hammered in some circles for not interviewing a minority candidate. If they were just trying to throw a couple of interviews together to save face, im surprised they didnt find one minority candidate to give an interview to. Yeah, that was odd. I know they did get turned down on Troy Weaver. Vincent Goodwill is reporting that AK plans to hire a POC for the GM position.
  4. What was 100% wrong? I do think the token interviews they gave yesterday reached WTF levels like they almost went out of their way to pick the worst people imaginable. Beyond that, I don't really see anything wrong with the search they conducted and how (impressively) quickly they acted.
  5. they interviewed those guys (ferry, colangelo, and the atlanta dude) but karnisovas is the clear front runner and is up for his second interview. by all accounts, he wants the job badly and he supposedly had a great interview. it would be terrible if one of those other guys was under serious consideration but it doesn't look like that's the case. i can only guess that they decided to do some due diligence (not sure why it had to be those jerks) and interview some people after the other 3 guys they wanted to interview were a no-go.
  6. yeah, it's pretty awful. the jordan one is spot on
  7. caveat - it's cowley, but KC is reporting the same thing, and I'm basically posting it because if even cowley says it, it must be legit...cowley would love to call them out for insisting paxson be involved if he even had so much as an inkling that that was happening.
  8. am i allowed to reply to this?
  9. aren't the players getting paid for 2020 (and getting service time)? i thought i saw that they had settled that a couple weeks back. The players are getting 4% of their salaries (and being credited a year of service time) if there is no season. If there is a season, I believe they pay back that 4%, because that was considered an advance at the time. gotcha. that makes sense.
  10. To add on to the Doolittle love, here's his wife summing it up pretty well. If I squint and try to adopt a player's mindset on losing that kind of money...there's a sliver I can understand. This proposal goes far beyond that group of people though. aren't the players getting paid for 2020 (and getting service time)? i thought i saw that they had settled that a couple weeks back.
  11. horsefeathers horsefeathers horsefeathers horsefeathers horsefeathers horsefeathers horsefeathers
  12. is that heat thing based on joe cowley? Can't remember who. There was also a report that they were targeting Heat players. from some googling it looks like all the weirdly heat-centric stuff is coming from cowley meh
  13. is that heat thing based on joe cowley?
  14. Hopefully an Athletic snippet is OK. Here's a link to that profile for anyone who has a sub https://theathletic.com/1436139/#click=https://t.co/INsV2Uwlre
  15. realgm seems to really like the webster guy woj brought up from toronto. also
  16. i really don't see it that way at all. i don't see pax as a kenny williams type and i think keeping pax formally employed and not firing him is about reinsdorf's love/loyalty for him. i don't think pax even really wants to be in charge anymore.
  17. whatever it is, hook it all to my veins
  18. I've enjoyed watching these old games. But holy crap is Chip Caray bad! I don't recall him being as awful as he truly was. Joe Carter made Caray look good. Caray with Stone at the end of their run (when they would trash the team espec Alou) was fun. That was a rough era for Cubs TV broadcasters. and a little before that, josh lewin and thom. yeesh. we're big time spoiled now.
  19. THERE’s a LASER TO CF! Yeah, he was awful. I had forgotten about HRs being “rally killers”. Two others things he used to do that drove me crazy... He overreacted to every bunt. “So and so will be called on to move the runner over. He lays down the bunt AND IT’S A BEAUTY!!!!” Every time someone bunted in fair territory he’d excitedly scream, “it’s a beauty.” May have been real hard back to the pitcher who is starting to turn a double play, but Chip would have already exclaimed how great it was. He also would say “could” when it should have been “would.” Bases loaded, two outs, bottom of the ninth, tie game, and he’d say, “a base hit here could give the Cubs the win.” No, a base hit would give the Cubs the win. Bases loaded: “a walk could bring in a run.” Did that a lot. man this reminded me of how much i hate that coomer refers to hard hit balls as being "crunched" who the horsefeathers says that
  20. Holy horsefeathers tell me this was photoshopped rofl. It wasn’t but a still frame makes it look a lot worse. Still pretty bad though https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/examining-if-the-bears-mitchell-trubisky-really-did-miss-a-wide-open-td-against-the-packers/amp/ yes it was
  21. yeah no thanks
