there is no building for the postseason. Really? Shoring up a lefty reliever before the deadline? This team could win 125 games but I'm still worried if Wood is called in for a high leverage situation in the playoffs. That's a silly concern to have (and even if it weren't, all eyes should be on fixing our LOOGY situation? and that's why you don't care about our run differential?) And yes, really. This team could win 125 games and you should be worried because there is an 80% or so chance that we won't win the world series. That's what the playoffs are and how they work. I feel like some kind of lame boring broken record having posted this so many times in my life by now but I guess it still needs to be said. -

no, they will always go back to a world series. they already have some theory about how we already knew the cubs were "regular season good" and it remains to be seen if they can become "postseason good" Well, yeah. It's why I couldn't give two [expletive] about the run differential. All eyes should be on building for the postseason. The regular season is damned near a foregone conclusion at this point. Also, that thread starter gif might actually be better than today's. Keep it rolling. there is no building for the postseason. -

That's a bit disingenuous of an end point since it includes a five day break for an injured wrist. That's UMFan's middle name. He loves him some arbitrary and mostly meaningless splits.

How do you figure that? Screw you guys, what's the point of arguing. Because he's basically been described as a work in progress at best right now defensively. I agree, there's no point in arguing that it would have been worth bringing him up for two weeks. i think that's mainly been in reference to framing/receiving he's a monster at throwing tho, at least from what i've seen.

Considering we're only talking about an additional 3 wins, you could say that about a lot of guys. Castro, etc. 3 wins is actually a ton to attribute to one player's half season, but yeah

They didn't really have a choice, they lost 2 catchers in a row. Sometimes you have to use replacement level players. He's just mad that Contreras wasn't called up.

lol do you think people expected him to be a good player? he's just a guy they had to call up from AAA to fill in for an injury. basically the definition of replacement level.
