  1. um, guys, [tweet] [/tweet]
  2. Kind of funny in light of his Twitter crusade a few days ago about how great a manager Dusty is, just like Joe. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] Also: [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. That's an example of really bad and irresponsible piggy back reporting if it's based on the Bowden "report" I think it is.
  4. Good thing the requirements for hitting dongs and being a passable outfielder, particularly in the knees, are much less than those of the Ferrari of NFL running backs.
  5. Uh, there's a lot of rain coming. http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/full_loop.php I think they might get it in with a delay in the late innings. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/chicago-il/60613/hourly-weather-forecast/26469_pc https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/60613:4:US
  6. nothing to add other than i was just thinking yesterday that it seems like when we've had good teams, we've had a lot of 4 game statement series sweeps...or the 4/5 vs st louis like you mentioned.
  7. except we are FAR from certain that awesome Javy actually exists. like really, really far from certain. i really don't like screwing with bryant that way. i'd rather just stick old man zobrist in LF unless and until we can be reasonably sure that baez can be a competent MLB hitter. i don't really think any position needs to be given to javy anyway. i'm fine with maddon doing things the way he has, for the most part. it's the idea of handing javy 3B and moving bryant primarily to LF that i am not on board with. and i was one of the biggest KB can't play 3B people back in the day. Even if a drop off comes, some combo of Bryant in LF is probably going to be our best offense/defense mix. probably...i just think the long term with bryant needs to be weighed in to these decisions. schwarber is back next year and our best lineup is still probably with him in LF and KB at 3B.
  8. really? cause I've been fathoming that very thing for a couple decades now i really can't even grasp the idea of the cubs being hated by everyone in a yankees/cardinals/red sox type way and being that team with a bunch of (recent) World Champion banners at wrigley and all that stuff...it'd just be such a drastic shift in public perception.
  9. The Mets have Conforto-Cespedes-Granderson in the OF, why would they trade for Braun? Plus their owners are cheap and/or broke, they wouldn't take on his contract. Lol, Granderson is OPS'ing .722 and is 35 years old. Maybe that's why? Is that supposed to be really bad or something? and he's doing that on a .226 babip btw
  10. i can't even fathom the complete paradigm shift in the identity of this franchise if we pulled off a 90's yankees type thing. it's really hard to even wrap my head around.
  11. it is...but is he going to be a good enough offensive player that it's worth hurting KB's long term value and possibly pigeon holing him as a COF when he's a very good 3B? i know we can just throw him back at 3B if we want to...i'm just not that comfortable with jerking him around, for lack of a better phrase, and moving him off and then moving him back up the defensive spectrum. obviously, if he is, then it's fine, because what makes the cubs a better team is more important than preserving/prioritizing an individual player's value...i'm just not sure there's any way to know at this point if javy is good enough to say that. I believe I was one of the bigger KB 3B supporters back in the day, and I have zero issue moving him off for awesome Javy. except we are FAR from certain that awesome Javy actually exists. like really, really far from certain. i really don't like screwing with bryant that way. i'd rather just stick old man zobrist in LF unless and until we can be reasonably sure that baez can be a competent MLB hitter. i don't really think any position needs to be given to javy anyway. i'm fine with maddon doing things the way he has, for the most part. it's the idea of handing javy 3B and moving bryant primarily to LF that i am not on board with. and i was one of the biggest KB can't play 3B people back in the day.
  12. wasn't maddux secretly a complete creep/weirdo type prankster party animal who thought stuff like farting in people's faces was hilarious
  13. i experimented by manually putting in the resolutions and it worked. EDIT - right click and pick "open image in new tab" - forgot the forum resizes it. or just click this http://www.trbimg.com/img-572fd3ac/turbine/ct-cubs-vs-nationals-20160508-008/1900/1900x1068
  14. i'm in the same boat with mine. i'm tired of that jerk rafael soriano ruining my wallpaper.

We're trying to win the division. If putting Javy at 3B improves the defense in LF and 3B (and offense), so be it. We're not Scott Boras, so I'm not sure why we should be caring too much about maximizing KB's long-term dollar value at this point by keeping him at 3B. my whole point is it's about his long term value to us if javy isn't good enough to stick. and if he is, then obviously, putting him at 3b is what is best for the team. i mean, i explicitly said all of that in the post you replied to.
  16. i was never crazy about him (not that this is any kind of spike the football - to steal one of kyle's favorite phrases - moment) but i would be horsefeathering amped if we could get fernandez somehow
  17. Good Lord. He is so wrong.

  19. http://wrigleyville.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2016/05/09/pardon-the-interruption-but-these-cubs-are-rewriting-history/#comment-10420 This is a pretty silly article given the fact that almost all of those teams only had to have the best record in their league to reach the World Series (something dominant teams such as those listed are usually going to do pretty easily).
  20. [tweet]https://twitter.com/KYouk_2036/status/729681034090938368[/tweet] the greek god of walks sorts his offensive stats by RBI :(
  21. 2008 was up there and very similar in terms of both teams' levels of competitiveness
