  1. not remotely complaining about the stroman deal and am actually ecstatic about it but this headline did make me think of this post lol
  2. I bet the Cubs offered him 3 years $21 million
  3. Dalton was, is, and always will be Nagy' QB, I'm certain of it and now, with Fields being limited, Nagy has his excuse to go with his boy. Maybe, its for the best - Nagy' not capable of fully utilizing the things Fields does best and more times than not puts him in harms way, I'd rather see Dalton get smashed than Fields. he has cracked ribs. he absolutely should sit.
  4. I'm surprised he turned down the Cubs offer of 3 years, $21 million to return. Good one!
  5. Adbert is a fan
  6. I was just looking at this out of curiosity. Miley's velocity is 2 mph above Davies, and Stroman would be 2 mph above Arrieta and a shade more than Williams/Sampson/Stewart, so you do get gains even if you aren't signing a bunch of flamethrowers. Plus you hope Alzolay (best velo on the roster) throws more innings, and with the stability offered by Hendricks/Stroman/Miley they might consider trading Mills for offensive help(especially if they sign/trade for some other arm) and get more gains that way. What Stroman would represent is a real need to get a strong defensive SS, though, you're not maximizing that rotation if you have a Hoerner/Madrigal defensive middle infield most days. Is that Carlos Correa guy good at defense?
  7. ok now add kb to this (that one is real) but leave willson in (that one's fake)
  8. I mean, the obvious point here is that of course he is if a team gives him enough money. But why is Jesse talking about this in the first place is obv the far more interesting question. edit - damn you, um. got me again. tbf, i had my post typed up and got distracted by actual work and didn't hit submit.
  9. Just gonna leave this here. Cerami keeps saying stuff without saying stuff. I wouldn't post it if it weren't for Ken Rosenthal mentioning the Cubs and Correa in the same sentence.
  10. Upper 50s barring injuries and Williams defense is not actually good, at least not yet did you mean to say upper 40s? i meant to say upper 50s. they're currently on pace for 52 and have dealt with injuries (zach, coby, vooch's illness, throw in williams if you think that's consequential, but he's not coming back this year so that's irrelevant to the discussion), severe underperformance from vooch, and are still finding their way as a massively overhauled roster. and they've had a goofy schedule having played the most games (while dealing with the aforementioned issues) in the league and some really weird travel sequencing if you really want to dig that deep. they've been highly competitive in almost every game with only a couple of exceptions and the defense is a legitimate force and there's no reason to believe it isn't here to stay. and they'll almost certainly add to shore up some of their weaknesses and add some size/defense/rebounding in the interior.

  12. the mets exist hell, the blackhawks exist
  13. i don't know if it'll be this week or not, but it'll happen in season at least partially due to the new interviewing window
  14. I think it's weird, but there's precedent for stuff like that happening, sorta. Hendry running the 2011 draft. Cutler said Lovie had informed the team he had been fired before his final game. I'm sure there are many others. precedent doesn't make it not stupid I go back to Hatley running the draft when everybody knew he was gone the next week. It's dumb. oh it definitely is
  15. I think it's weird, but there's precedent for stuff like that happening, sorta. Hendry running the 2011 draft. Cutler said Lovie had informed the team he had been fired before his final game. I'm sure there are many others. Wait with Lovie? The Bears were alive for the playoffs until Sunday Night Football well after the Bears last game. I never heard this. i saw it on twitter and i totally forgot the circumstances around lovie's firing when i repeated it so take it with an enormous grain of salt edit - fwiw in more anecdotal stuff, just heard a reporter on the score mention that john fox and the team knew it was john fox's final game when he got fired in carolina
  16. So Nagy already has been fired and hes gonna coach why? Just cuz it's a short week? That's not a good enough reason. I think it's weird, but there's precedent for stuff like that happening, sorta. Hendry running the 2011 draft. Cutler said Lovie had informed the team he had been fired before his final game. I'm sure there are many others.
  17. local media is taking it seriously enough to semi-run with it. only reason i saw the report was bc bernstein RTd it. hoge just came on the score to discuss. edit - and now they're bringing on konkol
  18. That's funny!!! =D> Don't know what the hell I was looking at?!?!? also why are you even in this bears/ravens thread to defend the packers with your fake news in the first place
  19. well, i'm sold.
  20. my goodness this is fun
