    drunk fans who want to watch the games while they bet? That's why people still go to Vegas sportsbooks even though they can bet on their phones, or why people go to Cubs games at Wrigley even though they can watch the games at home. But you can watch the game while you bet...from your seat. If you want to watch all the games you bet on, there are roughly 98 sports bars in a four block radius that don't have a cover charge of a game ticket. Who said anything about needing a game ticket?

    The circumstances definitely suck, but it's starting to look like a really strong return and with Darvish starting to trend down I don't think we'd get as much value anymore. I didn't anticipate that Yu would have been so affected by the sticky stuff ban. His spin rates are way down across the board and he's giving up a bunch of HRs. I would love to say that the FO knew the ban was coming and that they deftly traded Yu before he was impacted, but I really can't place any other reason for the Yu trade other than the Ricketts cutting off the funds. They've all but flat out said it was strictly about money.

    FWIW Hoerner turns into the best second baseman in baseball if you sim your MLB The Show franchise to 2026. That's pretty close to the time line the Cubs have for their next good team. pretty shocked you had zero posts in here from the reboot in early 2016 until the 2017 offseason.

    Mark Grace wore #17 for 13 years and had well over 2,000 hits with the Cubs. Obviously Kris Bryant had a much higher peak, but there is something to be said for the consistency and length of contributions from Grace.     I did. My main critiques would be a couple guys have the likely competition for their market undersold(Gray, Thor, Semien), I’m not a fan of Marte as a target, and Buxton being 1 year from FA is an additional problem to solve, plus Im not sure how beneficial it is to trade Heyward just to get 3-5 mil free. Oh, and the money situation after all the dust has settled is probably a bit dicey, but I didn’t do detailed math. I like the general thinking though and i think it serves as a good template where someone can fill in with their own moves they have fewer quibbles with. I’ll see if I can do a first pass of my own with some specifics, since criticism without alternatives is not terribly sporting. i'd have them pay heywards full salary and have him off the roster if i could
