http://www.newyorker.com/news/sporting-scene/the-most-pleasing-campaign-of-2016 Stumbled onto this on facebook and didn't recall seeing it posted before. I haven't read a word, so I have no idea if it's good. Can't right now. Maybe someone else can let us know if it's worth reading

The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?

claims of holding back, etc. are [expletive]. players aren't like that They may not be holding back, but they may not be 100% mentally in the game either, which I think was exactly what Arrieta/Montero were complaining about. It's tough to have that mental and competitive edge right now, especially when Joe is trying to rest guys. yup. that's literally what they said.

what? claims of holding back, etc. are [expletive]. players aren't like that it's a week's worth of games where they have nothing to play for. it's a team that is going to approach 105 wins. i couldn't care less what anybody does in these games and it's going to mean virtually nothing in a week, short of a pitcher's arm actually arm falling off or some injury. by the same token, you really shouldn't feel any better about next friday if they win the next 4 games by 4-5 runs each on the backs of their good players.

that phrasing suggests you think this is going to get worse ha

to kinda sorta go along with that, i still don't get why certain likes notify me and certain ones don't. is there any rhyme or reason (even if it's a glitch that's not worth fixing)
  21. David
    I believe him.

Apparently Terry Collins is considering starting Syndergaard Sunday (for HFA in the Wild Card Game!) so two starts in the NLDS isn't out of the question yet. I just refuse to believe he'll be allowed to do anything that stupid even if he winds up wanting to, so I won't acknowledge that as a possibility.

unless cueto is hurt. then i take that back. then it's like facing shark or someone twice.
  24. David
it's funny... a month or two ago i was saying the only two teams i wanted to avoid were stl and nym. now i'm rooting for them both.

We're a 4 game winning streak against the Pirates and Reds away from a 105 win season. Do that, please.
