  1. only if "we've" been living under a rock eh it's not like it's been out there all that much. if there was a glimpse before, it wasn't much. media wasn't even allowed in the party room when they toured the clubhouse at the beginning of the season. it's been treated like a secret area.
  2. Hendricks just said that tomorrow he'll go over his opponent the way he normally does the day before his start. So sounds like he's going game 2.

  4. [tweet] [/tweet] I was not aware that this is a thing but I guess it is
  5. I could spend the next several hours watching that.
  6. this is incredible
  7. The whole point of WAR is that it's quick and dirty. It's not meant to be parsed. It's a complicated composite of a bunch of numbers nobody really needs to or wants to understand. If you want to look deeper into a player, look at other numbers.
  8. Why on earth would you voluntarily listen to David Kaplan and Jessie Rogers talk about anything? Was just doing some work around the house and put it on. It's off now. The guys on the Score (ESPECIALLY in this time slot) are much more tolerable. ESPN1000 is horrific. I started my car today and my tuner was set to 1000 from having last night's game on, and the first thing I heard was "well you know kershaw is terrible on short rest so he won't be going for game 2" so basically everything he said was completely wrong

  10. holy crap the dodgers are +175 for the nlcs
  11. I think it speaks to the idea of just how inefficient the Cubs old ways were. They were always looking for the athlete/upside guy with little organizational thought to the true baseball value of the full roster. If one guy hit they'd pat themselves on their back and then take 10 more guys that failed. same thought i had
  12. Is it just me or is this article pretty weird, considering Lindor is much better than Javy? http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/former-scouting-directors-faith-in-javier-baez-pays-off-for-chicago-cubs-101416
  13. ...those circumstances being where cybernetics are allowed in MLB?! Lackey's 38. Theo gave him IMO one year too many and too much $, but here we are. Definitely not. Lackey has already earned most of that contract in year one. As long as he doesn't have a disastrous year next year, he'll have surplus value pretty easily.
  14. Small sample and all that, it just makes me nervous that his two worst outings have been when Joe brought him in before the 9th. Same. I'm on the fence about it. Especially since we have some very good LOOGYs anyway.
  15. apparently dex got everybody blue jordan 12's https://www.instagram.com/p/BLhKh2LBEuH/ coghlan wears the same shoe size as me lol
  16. I can get down with this
  17. pretty sure he already told a version of this story at his introductory press conference
  18. I fully expect us to start Montgomery. Maybe a Montgomery/Zastryzny bullpen game I could see...especially if we're up.
  19. He's not. They've said they don't want him torquing his knee like that yet. EDIT - I can't find where the hell I heard/read it, but it was within the last few days.
  20. Looks like you may have called it [tweet] [/tweet]

  22. lol looks like they just paint over part of the D to turn it into a C [tweet] [/tweet]
  23. And you're "educated" guess still isn't enough reason to not consider a trade. It would be managerial malpractice to preemptively refuse a conversation. That's the point. And I'm not really deciding on whether the Cubs consider a trade nor am I saying they should refuse a conversation. I'm stating my opinion as to what I'd like them to do based on my educated guesses as to what is out there (and one poster's suggestion - from a writer - that the return would be a Top 75 pitching prospect).
  24. same reason i didn't want to trade baez last offseason the market isn't always right. soler's value is at a low point and he has upside. not to mention the thing most are talking about trading him for, young pitching, is still very overvalued. you have no idea what the market is i can speculate as to what it is based on what i see in the media and other transactions/rumors/etc. any conversations we have about trades are exactly that.
