  1. plz come back soon jay
  2. you'd almost think hoyer was a garbage player
  3. lol so horsefeathering stupid
  4. Elo. Which I wouldn't trust as much as team WAR type projections that Fangraphs does...but somehow I still think 538 is closer to the mark. Whatever. Huh? He asked what FG uses.
  5. god i'm glad i don't go into these game threads during the games
  6. After seeing some of the losses that didn't correlate with their percentages, I've grown to put little faith in their percentages. I believe the Nats were 60/30 favorites too for game 5. At the end of the day, it's baseball. You can put statistics behind it, but the randomness (especially in October) can take over at any moment with one or two out of the norm plays. i mean, 30% is still a very possible outcome. i'd still rather be the 70% team though. 70% doesn't mean 100% tho.
  7. Right, was not intended as a counterpoint, I just heard the broadcast allude to it and found it fascinating. Although I will say the Indians pen certainly gives them more margin for error than the average team when it comes to rotation depth. Gotcha. I thought that might be it. Hesitated even replying to your post.
  8. there's nothing dull or boring about an easy win. example 1a - 2003 NLCS game 2 example 1b - 2015 NLDS game 3
  9. Their #2 starter is Trevor Bauer (who just sliced his pitching pinky open) and #3 is Josh Tomlin. Whole bunch of mediocre in that rotation after Kluber.
  10. there's nothing dull or boring about an easy win.
  11. Hours later and I'm still baffled at the notion that the Jays aren't better than the Indians. The Indians, as presently constructed, might've been the worst team to make the postseason (but probably not - the rangers are pretty bad). Second or third, for sure. And they're definitely the worst remaining.
  12. Man I hate that house money talk. Yeah, no loser talk before the series even starts. Tempering your enthusiasm is for losers To me, the guys who are talking about being terrified are the ones doing the loser talking.
  13. probably posted somewhere but 538 has us at 68% to win tonight
  14. All of this, too. Not to mention losing in the DS would've bothered me much more in and of itself. At least we've locked in at least 4 more playoff games now.
  15. 64% to make, 39% to win Those odds haven't even factored in the pitcher adjustments... The Cubs have moved up to 40% to win the WS, probably because the Indians won last night.
  16. I feel pretty good. Way more than in the DS. Really? Man, just the opposite for me. Their lineup scares me more than the SFG, especially nights when the wind blows out. I'm not scared of any of these teams. I'm just scared of playoff [expletive]. Best of 7 makes playoff [expletive] slightly less impactful. Also, since you're talking about the wind blowing out tonight, they are facing Jon Lester tonight. He throws with his left arm.
  17. Agreed. It's morning still and I'm already on edge. But there's always drinking. I feel pretty good. Way more than in the DS.
  18. or we just score when he's not in the game guys
  19. zips or maybe a composite...not sure. but those types of projections (rather than raw stats).
  20. Season to date stats have the Cubs at 2-1 favorites. I choose to believe that is true because the odds are better and that makes me happier. And 538 has it at 64-36 for the Cubs. yep. 538 is pretty much right in line with fangraphs season to date stats...so that's prob the reason for the discrepancy right there. based on totally different things.
  21. It should be mandated that every stadium have a dome or retractable roof in place within the next 20 years nah but a retractable is ok as long as theres real grass domes are an affront to everything good. dreary and miserable and artificially lit.
  22. i want the indians. horsefeathers dome baseball. also the indians have the lowest world series odds by a pretty wide margin.
  23. [tweet]https://twitter.com/keithlaw/status/787037582488014848[/tweet]
  24. It was something comparing him dealing with Boston Curses and Chicago Curses. :banghead: Which is even better since Lester wasn't there in 04.
