  1. Pretty sure he meant after they win the title. I'd never buy any merchandise before that. When I was younger, yeah. I'm waiting for a few weeks after to buy anything when they start discounting it to hell. There's some cool NLCS stuff I like but will wait until they put it at like 40-60% off. I'm going to buy my shirt the night it happens. And hat. And other shirts. And anything else I can waste money on.
  2. I'm the opposite. No way am I missing a clinching game, but I thought about buying WS gear but decided against it. Two reasons: (1) that WS stuff looks pretty lame once it's out of date; and (2) superstition. I bought a divisional series sweatshirt one year and a regular Cubs t-shirt another year when they were in the playoffs, and they blew up both times. Pretty sure he meant after they win the title. I'd never buy any merchandise before that. When I was younger, yeah.
  3. I don't know about a must win, but it is a huge game for them.
  4. us has hated theo since he let aramis go when he got hired. he doesn't trust these nerds. STOP HATING THEO US (i'm kidding please dont overreact)
  5. I'm saying temper your expectations. I've been tempering my expectations my whole [expletive] life. The Cubs are in the WORLD [expletive] SERIES. I find nothing to be gained by further tempering my expectations. Yeah. Tempering expectations at this point is pointless.
  6. Wait, I'm sorry. Are you seriously acting as though that was a classless response to your insistence that people are blind? I quoted the wrong post. But I'm insisting that people are overstating the impact he's likely to have, and I don't think its a particularly whacked out sentiment. Which is more likely: guy who hasn't faced major league pitching in 6 months struggling in a 20 or so AB sample size, or guy who hasn't faced major league pitching crushing the crap out of the ball during a 20 AB sample size? it's baseball, so, to be honest, i don't think there's a particularly wide chasm between either of those possibilities. and a whole lot of other good ones in between.
  7. I remember Yellon as the most prominent poster in the cubs newsgroups back in the day. I went there after I got rid of AOL and got regular dial up internet. No more AOL message boards. Then after that it was ESPN.com/Cubs.com.
  8. Thanks for sharing. I'm guessing the complete lack of any talk about outdoor projection of the game means it's probably a pipe dream. I can't imagine MLB's copyright rules would allow for such a thing to happen. Which stinks, because I don't want to be stuck somewhere relying on my phone to stream the game at 3 pitches behind real time, when I'm in earshot of so many thousands of people. i don't think watch parties are unprecedented the cubs had planned one at wrigley for the wild card game last year but it fell through for some reason
  9. i wonder how many other teams have at least 3-4 blogs that are objectively better than their SB Nation guy
  10. have you been drunk all day or something
  11. [tweet] [/tweet]
  12. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet] except, of course, ken, schwarber was injured over 6 months ago and was cleared to play by doctors while bauer hurt himself 3 days before and had a bloody stump for a pinky
  13. get a load of tough guy over here
  14. I believe this. Our best scoop since nocode.
  15. That money goes to the people holding the tickets. Those are secondary market prices. Face values on these seats for the WS range from $175-$450 per seat for season ticket holders and more than that with dynamic pricing for people who buy single games, but still not near what you're hearing about the secondary market.

  17. His fielding difficulties are so hilariously overstated because he had a couple of goofy looking misplays in the NLCS last year.
  18. The base he hit it to is whatever you want it to be. Love
  19. when I look at their stats this year, I see the Cardinals with a better bullpen. hopefully we start mauling their starters right from the start and force their bullpen to be over pitched. their position players are much better than the cardinals. they can play defense and run the bases. the cardinals were abysmal at both of those things.
  20. They're starting Josh Tomlin and an OK pitcher who may have been close to needing his pitching pinky amputated about 10 days ago.
