  1. Got this idea from the discussion going on in the top 108 moments thread. Trying to come up with any that are remotely noteworthy. 1998 - Sunday, September 13, 1998 vs. Brewers Went to this game with my dad when I was 15. Sammy hit 61 and 62. Grace hit a walkoff. 2002 - Wednesday, May 22, 2002 vs. Pirates Mark Prior's debut, and he did OK. 6 innings, 2 ER, 10K, 2BB. Second best seats I've had to any Cubs game. Lloyd McClendon was salty afterwards. 2003 - Tuesday, September 2, 2003 vs. Cardinals Game 2 2nd game of the double header. The only game in this series they lost. They were robbed by a bad fair/foul call on what would've been a big double down the LF line by Alou. 2003 - Wednesday, September 3, 2003 vs. Cardinals I'm going to go ahead and admit that I left this one early. Walked out literally the second JD Drew hit a grand slam to put the Cards up 6-0. Heard the insane comeback on the radio and saw the very end on my TV. Still kicking myself, but as you'll see later, I apparently didn't learn my lesson. 2003 - Wednesday, September 24, 2003 vs. Reds The Sean Estes game. Decided the night before and drove out after class in the morning with a buddy. Almost decided not to when I realized Estes was starting. Drove back the same night in a crazy ass downpour and had about 2 hours to put a speech together for class and delivered it at 8 AM. 2003 - Sunday, October 5, 2003 @ Braves Cubs first postseason series win in 8 million years. One of my favorite memories as a Cubs fan. Drove down with my parents and stayed at my aunt's house in Atlanta. Went with my dad and cousin. Just a really cool night and a memory I'll always cherish. I remember being so conflicted at what to root for on Saturday during the drive. I just wanted a series win, but I badly wanted to attend a deciding game, too. 2007 - Saturday, October 6, 2007 vs. Diamondbacks I guess I'm just including postseason games by default, but BLECH. horsefeathering Chris Young happened before I finished getting my ass in my seat. 2008 - Thursday, July 31, 2008 @ Brewers Basically, I'm including this because it was when we took control of the division and completed this awesome sweep. It also happened to be one of Edmonds's 2 HR games, of which I believe I was at every one. 2008 - Thursday, September 18, 2008 vs. Brewers Remember when I said I didn't learn my lesson? Yeah. Well. About that. Cubs were down 6 to 2 with 1 out in the 9th. Me and my buddy decided to run out early to beat the crowd to the train. Almost immediately hear a huge roar from the crowd...then another a little later when Geovany Soto hits a 2 run game tying HR. Watched the extra innings from my couch. 2015 - Friday, April 17, 2015 vs. Padres The Kris Bryant debut. Played hooky from work. It was not pretty, but things turned out OK. 2015 - Friday, May 15, 2015 vs. Pirates The Polanco game. Pretty much all that needs to be said. 2015 - Monday, October 12, 2015 vs. Cardinals Pure dongeriffic glory in this game, even though the lasting memories of this series would come the next day (I was not there). 2016 - Friday, October 7, 2016 vs. Giants Javy and Jon took care of business. I still don't know how that was only a basket shot. 2016 - Saturday, October 22, 2016 vs. Dodgers Favorite game I've ever attended. Pounced on Kershaw and easily clinched the NL Championship. 2016 - Sunday, October 30, 2016 vs. Indians Ridiculously nervous. Chapman was lights out. Hope was back alive.
  2. Bowen on Glennon for those who have Insider http://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/18858747/what-bears-expect-qb-mike-glennon-2017-nfl-free-agency PFF's thoughts on some of the relevant FA deals (ours or guys we were looking at) https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-grading-every-deal-of-2017-nfl-free-agency/?utm_content=buffer0791c&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=nfl
  3. Whitehair, Sitton, and Long are all above average, with Leno and Massie being average. If Long is injury-plagued again, Kush is actually pretty decent as well. They allowed the same amount of sacks as the Cowboys and PFO reports that their pass protection was better. if Glennon is a capable QB, they will score points. Fair enough, I considered Sitton but ultimately didn't add him because of age related decline fears. And Whitehair I considered promising but not quite there yet. But I didn't base anything off PFF grades or even much of an eye test since I drank enough to black out the last half of the Bears season. I still think the offense as a whole lacks impact skill players, but overall I think the judgement of the Bears offense rests on your opinion of Glennon. He might have a better completion percentage with a better line but its not like his accuracy in college was any good so while I don't think its impossible that he works out, I'm not overly optimistic. please tell me you didn't care enough to do this as a result of the games and that it was more just you normally enjoy getting very drunk on football sundays
  4. We should start a thread on this. Most memorable games attended.
  5. Here's Kevin Seifert's take on the Glennon signing http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/232946/nfl-day-1-free-agency-winners-and-losers
  6. in the process of steamrolling a good san diego team when knox got cutty killed. Man, you are WAY too forgiving of a team/organization that does not deserve it at all. lol all i said was that if you look at the past 25 years they are a little above browns level and if you look at the past 15 they are pretty much meh.
  7. well that's a bummer at the very least, how could he not have used the demps deal to get himself more?
  8. might as well
  9. how can the team with jay cutler for the past 8 years be considered anonymous? one of the biggest lightning rods in the nfl.
  10. 1994 9-7 1995 9-7 2001 13-3 2005 11-5 2006 13-3 2008 9-7 2010 11-5 2012 10-6 Add to it, 2001 was a total fluke, the 2012 team started at 7-1 and tanked. I really liked the 2011 team until Cutler went down. They were 7-3 at the time before finishing 8-8 in the process of steamrolling a good san diego team when knox got cutty killed.
  11. weren't pretty much all of those in the last 15? including a superbowl and nfccg appearance? i'm not gonna split hairs, yeah, if you go back to 1992, they're like a tier above the browns. going back about 15 years it's considerably less dismal, imo. 5 seasons above .500 in the last 15 years, with one of those being 9-7. Still sounds pretty horsefeathers. At best they spent a good chunk of that time hovering around 8-8. horsefeathers, in my mind the 2011 and 12 teams were still really good. i've kinda blacked out the post jay disastrous collapse of 2011. like i know it happened but i still think back like it was a good team.
  12. i know this was a half serious post but the bears went to a superbowl and had a bunch of other ok teams under lovie, remember?
  13. The most nondescript big market team in the NFL by a mile do the rams and jets count?
  14. weren't pretty much all of those in the last 15? including a superbowl and nfccg appearance? i'm not gonna split hairs, yeah, if you go back to 1992, they're like a tier above the browns. going back about 15 years it's considerably less dismal, imo.
  15. on the plus side, it's going to be hard for them to have a good enough year for fox to save his job, right? if they dead cat bounce and maybe defend (depending on this draft) and game manage their way to 7 wins, does fox keep his job?
  16. like our frame of reference is suddenly back where it should be for any nfl team. back then i might've been excited about that WR who had an OK year this year for us who i can't even name. Should? Any? What are you talking about? Every NFL team's frame of reference should be hoping a nobody WR does well? What the hell? nope. i'm saying we used to have really low expectations and now we're up to speed with the rest of the league in terms of expectations at that position. i'm saying it's funny that the idea of going into a season with hester or roy williams as our #1 didn't make me want to vomit and not watch a game just 6 or 7 years ago.
  17. like our frame of reference is suddenly back where it should be for any nfl team. back then i might've been excited about that WR who had an OK year this year for us who i can't even name. Uh, I wouldn't say "for any other NFL team" just the Bears of the aughts. i worded that poorly, i guess. i'm saying having marshall and jeffery brought us up to speed, expectations wise.
  18. funny? like our frame of reference is suddenly back where it should be for any nfl team. back then i might've been excited about that WR who had an OK year this year for us who i can't even name.
  19. i'm still willing to take the top 5 bet. name the amount. Your confidence is throwing me off. How many wins are you giving them? You understand they don't have any WR's or CB's right? Well they do, but...... Also, I think this now green lights the chance that Pace drafts Mike Williams at 3. Ugh. I'm saying they will draft outside the top 5. Nothing more.
  20. funny to think about where we were for several years before getting marshall and jeffery. we went into seasons with either hester or a scrapheap roy williams as our #1 WR.
  21. what is gordon's status even?
  22. i'm still willing to take the top 5 bet. name the amount.
  23. remember when B Marsh came to Chicago because he wanted to play with Cutty again and when Heyward signed with the Cubs for less money that ol Sweet St Lou and we were all like horsefeathers yea now FA's shun the Bears. horay for Pace! for the record, bmarsh was traded to the bears because he wore out his welcome in miami, just like he does everywhere he goes. and heyward didn't REALLY take a worse deal to come here, iirc. if FA's have a special distaste for the bears, i doubt it has much to do with ryan pace (beyond the money he's offering)
  24. This is dumb and wrong. The idea that smart teams don't spend in free agency is dumb and wrong. You have to spend in free agency to compete. There is no such thing as a purely draft driven team. Cap space can and should be used to acquire the best players possible. unless you're really smart and luck your way into 2.5+ decades of hall of fame QBing then it doesn't matter if you're located in the armpit of america where nobody in their right mind would choose to go
