I was a bit of a late bloomer with my sports interest, but 12 was definitely when it really took hold, like he said. I was just bored by them before that. 8 year old me had no interest, even when my dad and my brothers all watched sports. It all just clicked at once for me when Jordan came back and I became an obsessed freak about the Bulls, then the Cubs, then the Bears.

i so badly want him to figure out what he has left to figure out for his talent to fully bear out at the plate because a player like that with that much swag would be absurdly fun to root for -
It's weird... two years ago that was easily my favorite cubs team ever and I couldn't imagine it being surpassed. Even when the 2015 team started out well (and I didn't really doubt it would) I had this doubt, partly because I'm older I think, that it wouldn't be the same... like maybe the 08 playoffs after such a great season ruined me or something. Now I don't really care at all about that team.
