  1. If any team could make it work, it'd probably be Oakland with their penchant for guys who don't necessarily have super high ceilings, although I agree it would probably require either Almora or Happ. i'd be willing to give up almora + whatever hipster prospects he wants out of our minors, but that's about it. maybe montgomery but i tend to be in the school of liking montgomery as a starter and having questions about gray's health that you mentioned. so, in other words, if it were me, we're probably not getting sonny gray. but it's beane so who knows.
  2. no, thanks
  3. can't see what package we could put together at this point without dealing an MLBer but billy beane has done some weird horsefeathers so who knows
  4. the "let's pump the brakes on bryant being mvp guy" ahhh what you did there, i see it
  5. that's the kris bryant isn't who i'd want up with the game on the line guy iirc
  6. Bumgarner's is really good ($12M in each of next 2 seasons), but, yes. Without looking it up I'm guessing Rizzo's is the biggest steal among such contracts in baseball. You guys ever hear of Chris Sale?
  7. Lots and lots of wrong things here. Did you do that on purpose? I guess he did do it on purpose.
  8. With Lackey technically on the DL, the active roster is at 24. yeah but isn't he slated to pitch one of the upcoming games
  9. jose's twitter and instagram https://www.instagram.com/jose_quintana24/ hasn't updated his twitter yet and hasn't tweeted in a while but has updated his insta https://www.instagram.com/p/BWgkd2Xh6n5/?taken-by=jose_quintana24
  10. esp because the cubs are so screwed for the future now, esp with position players
  11. Anybody unhappy with this trade, I'll bet you that in 6 years, the cubs will have gotten more wins out of this trade than the white sox. That's like 3 extra years after Jose is probably gone.

  13. Pretty sure they don't have that issue anymore
  14. These aren't projections or based on them. They're based on an analysis of how the teams have actually performed this year. And the Brewers have performed better in the most important areas. No horsefeathers. The whole point of those is to look past the W-L record and see if there is anything about the records that is smoke and mirrors/unsustainable (both in terms of over and underperformance) or if it's a legit representation of what has happened. So yes, the Brewers have performed better in the "most important areas." Great job stating the obvious.
  15. Yup. Just like TT was showing me the Steamers projections a few weeks ago. I can accept being laughed at. It will be even better once I'm actually, you know, wrong. These aren't projections or based on them. They're based on an analysis of how the teams have actually performed this year.
  16. it's kinda where i'm at if they're all that uncertain about what he is, they'd be kinda crazy to take a 70M gamble on a guy with bad peripherals and a 5 ERA

  18. that's an oddly timed comment considering he hit a ball 107 mph in his last at bat and just hit another one very solidly after a good AB he also has been kinda back to his average offensive self since june i havent been watching the game, I just saw his stat line following on Gameday and realized how sad it looked. I do see .805 OPS in June and .708 in July. I was hoping for a leap this year though. nevermind then. the reason i thought it was weird was bc i assumed you were watching bc CSN day game.
  19. over the past month, he's at .280/.325/.507 for a .343 wOBA and a 110 wRC+
