    My guess is he'd have to be pretty damn terrible to lose the job in the first 4-6 games. Pace is probably hoping for sustained mediocrity and losing games by less than a TD (the John Fox specialty). In the weeks coming up to the bye week, that will be when not being good enough to win will risk Glennon's job, as the bar will be raised. i'm hoping for more like "after 3 picks in the first half on sunday" or something

    mannely just said on the radio that he heard mitch will be splitting scout team reps even though usually the 3 gets them.

    Ok, yeah the number 3 in preseason does seem meaningless since he played like #2 in the games. I don't know how frequently the #1 offense played against #1 defense in training camp so I can't say if his placement with 3rd stringers in camp helped him get reps against first team D without having to give him reps with the 1st team O. If it did then it makes sense to me. But going forward, whether he's #2 or not, I hope that they give him scout team reps when he's not playing with the 1s on offense. (he is #2 - just not sure if you missed it since it's on the last page or not) but yeah, that's what i'm saying... that is until glennon throws a pick 6 on sunday and the hero comes in.

    obviously an injury gets mitch into the game but how badly and for how long does glennon have to play to get yanked?

    right, but he's not the #3. i'm just saying the previous preseason #3 designation was meaningless. it was never IMO to get him scout team reps, as you suggested.

    Yeah I'd wonder if the #3 has been partially to get him reps on the scout team, against the first team defense. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-mitch-trubisky-plan-real-talk-spt-0906-20170905-story.html Makes sense to me. Get him daily reps against what should be a very good defense, give him time to learn the playbook without the bright lights on him if he screws some stuff up. Give him basically a second QB coach who can work with him while the actual coaches spend more time prepping for actual games. Then give him the reigns as soon as the head game has caught up. I think the #3 designation in the preseason has been nothing but a formality and giving him a contrived goal to attain. The only depth chart that really mattered was this week 1 one.

    usually the #3 gets the scout team reps, right? i wonder if they're going away from that in this case to get trubisky more practice reps.

    i mean it's been said like 100x that sanchez wasn't really here to play, but to be a guy in the meeting room to mentor about what it's like to suck in the nfl and blah blah blah. his relationship with prescott last year has been brought up a lot too. i think it's a load of horseshit but clearly they believe he has value in that role as basically a coach under the guise of a fellow player.

    so, from what i heard on the radio, apparently the over/under in vegas on trubisky starts is set at 1.5 i have to pound the over when i'm in vegas this weekend, don't i?

    i never feel like either of these things unless it's a blowout in either direction (like at least 5 runs). i just watch and hope for good things. look how cool and above the fray David is ok i'll lie and say i feel like we have no shot now or something

    i never feel like either of these things unless it's a blowout in either direction (like at least 5 runs). i just watch and hope for good things.

    some sort of leg issue. they tried to have him test it and he grimaced midway through the delivery and couldn't complete the pitch.

    eh, yeah, but they've all been minor (to major players) relatively...we've been lucky in that regard. seems like many times we've had scares and the diagnosis has been better than expected. we'll see with this one. other teams have had their share...nats lost eaton for the year, turner for a long time, pitchers have had issues on and off. dodgers have had a ton of issues with their rotation (cue TT), including losing the best pitcher in the game for several weeks. OK. Good points. I was just thinking Hendricks, Lester, maybe Arrieta, Willson, Addy, Heyward all DL and then minor ones to KB and Javy. But that probably is normal, and I noticed more since most have hit since August. yeah, hendricks and russell are the two i can think of off the top of my head that have dragged and lasted longer than expected. the lester thing seemed like getting him rest more than anything. but more than once i thought we lost KB for the year, and i thought there was a good chance willson was lost for the season. i guess that's why i feel a little lucky.

    lol this was after he pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 ER and 2 dongs and striking out 3.
