  1. I have no memory of hitting him well. Haven't we had a couple of 4-5 run first innings against him? I remember one in 2015 where we eventually blew the lead
  2. your jokes are as hit or miss as schwarber. the dongs are massive and majestic tho.
  3. btw i knew javy was hitting really well in the second half, but i didn't realize it was THAT good. goodness. please don't be another castro hot-streak-like tease and please take the next step and continue this next year.
  4. John Jay has pictures of Maddon doing unnatural things. Dare I say, he is Joe's Neifi. i mean he's a hell of a lot better than neifi though
  5. fun fact - schwarber has been a better offensive player than baez (by a hair) even including his catastrophic start (just saying since you didn't include him as potential catastrophe). that said, both have been far from catastrophic lately schwarber .259/.349/.560 .380 wOBA 133 wRC+ (33% K, 11% BB) in 189 PA since being called back up .257/.347/.553 .377 wOBA 131 wRC+ in second half javy .296/.345/.534 .360 wOBA 120 wRC+ (30.2%K 6.8% BB) in second half jay is just kind of super average at the plate so w/e. heyward sucks ass though. Fun fact: Schwarber has had an unfortunate trend of alternating between dongmaster and multi-k monstrosity at the drop of a game, so don't pretend you didn't know what I was talking about, you filthy, Cubs-abandoning, Bears-lover. GET BACK TO YOUR CUCKS VS. BUCS GAME THREAD AND STAY THERE. i have never paid attention to streaks/streakiness or game to game "inconsistency" or whatever the hell in baseball. all i know is schwarber has been god damn good over a legit sample size since coming back up. how it has been sequenced on a game to game basis doesn't matter to me at all.
  6. before i was seriously into sports around like 95 when the thrilling wild card chase of the cubs sucked me in, i was an extremely casual white sox "fan." with those mid/early 90s teams. i even had a hat at some point.
  7. Man, that has the real potential to be a catastrophic 5-7. Here's hoping at least Schwarber manages to keep that from happening. Also: I KNEW Joe was gonna start Jay in St. Louis. fun fact - schwarber has been a better offensive player than baez (by a hair) even including his catastrophic start (just saying since you didn't include him as potential catastrophe). that said, both have been far from catastrophic lately schwarber .259/.349/.560 .380 wOBA 133 wRC+ (33% K, 11% BB) in 189 PA since being called back up .257/.347/.553 .377 wOBA 131 wRC+ in second half javy .296/.345/.534 .360 wOBA 120 wRC+ (30.2%K 6.8% BB) in second half jay is just kind of super average at the plate so w/e. heyward sucks ass though.
  8. The bean juice sludge left in a can of beans after you pour them out
  9. hahaha this twitter thread between thomas jones, olin kruetz, and jason mckie is great (you have to click it) [tweet] [/tweet]
  10. Bonus: Ours can actually throw!
  11. That was fun. He still throws some ugly balls, but damn he's fun and I'm jealous of Texans fans who get to watch their rookie QB. I'm like the opposite of jealous (is there a word for that) of Texans fans who had their team draft Deshaun Watson.
  12. Prediction: Deshaun Watson is bad and will play bad
  13. I don't know as much about football as I do about baseball, and when you hear him talk about baseball you can tell he's a complete moron, but you can actually tell with football too. He's just not a smart person. I don't even have the years and years of hate that people have for him...I didn't know who the hell he was until he got his Score spot years ago, but he's an idiot.
  14. i can't wait for someone to look this up and it turns out he has like 1 or something lmfao
  15. Yes, I'm clearly mad at the hurricane and not the ridiculous decision by MLB. Not really a ridiculous decision.
  16. When this has happened previously they've moved these games to neutral ground...I think that's the bone of contention here. That's how Zambrano ended up with a no-no against the Astros in Milwaukee. I know that in 2004 the Marlins played a DH at Wrigley to make up for a game that was wiped out by Hurricane Frances (they also played a game against the Expos at the Cell).
  17. the wording made it sound like fox and pace already think he gives them the best chance to win. he's also the #2, which means he could go in at any moment...which would lead me to believe that they feel that playing now wouldn't harm his development. i don't think they'd risk having him come into a game if they thought it would, considering how conservative they're being. so...if playing now isn't going to harm his development and the HC and FO think he's their best option, i don't see a significant downside to playing him. as for me, personally, i think his skill set is such that he isn't going to have massive rookie struggles like a jared goff or whatever and won't be "ruined" if he makes some mistakes.
  18. didn't see it mentioned, btw, but jeff dickerson from espn1000, normally your typical conservative reporting team beat guy (who was annoyingly positive on glennon's debut in his game coverage), said on monday to expect that trubisky will be coming sooner than later. said something like "lots of people at halas hall think trubisky gives them the best chance to win" from FO to coaching staff (why he wouldn't be starting already then is beyond me but whatever).
  19. pace is here for the long haul baby and that's a good thing (i'm officially all in on the ryan pace kool aid) preferably trubisky gets in this year and the bears are a better team for it both this year and going forward. if trubisky helps them win some games along with that defense and run game and that saves fox's job, great. if not and fox gets canned, that's fine with me too. i don't like fox but i also don't hate him enough to root for the bears to lose if there's any chance of them improving.
  20. i've read a couple of posts on this page now alluding to something like this...is there some report i missed where this is being talked about under the table even though it's against the rules or whatever? Not only is it against the rules, MLB has been proactive in letting teams know what the potential punishments would be: those punishments are totally worth it
  21. i've read a couple of posts on this page now alluding to something like this...is there some report i missed where this is being talked about under the table even though it's against the rules or whatever? No, just the general understanding that that is the only way the Cubs could compete financially with the restrictions in place. And if it was being reported, it wouldn't be very well hidden under the table, would it? If Theo does it, we'll never know. But it doesn't seem very practical to me. What if the under the table deal is in place and he tears his UCL in the first season. Won't it look a little suspicious giving a $150 million contract to a guy on a TJS operating table? within the rules, there's really almost no financial competition in place, if coming this offseason is any indication of how little of a priority money is to otani. my question is where is the notion of "ripping up" his contract that has been mentioned a couple times coming from? also rumors about under the table stuff happen all the time (including with theo a time or two)

  23. he was probably talking about good players I'm just saying. Chicago is a great city. Great sports town. Grew up there. But I've lived on both the East and West coast since there. Chicago is just not necessarily a city where people all over the world want to go to live. If I'm a betting man, I'd bet Dodgers or Yankees. This is just a really strange take when it comes to the Cubs. The Cubs have signed plenty of highly coveted free agents over the years and (this is admittedly probably less true with an international player) players always talk about how they either want to play there, or it was their favorite place to play, etc. They're only "living" there for the spring/summer/fall so the whole horrific winter thing isn't even the issue it might be with NBA or NFL players.
