Our 106-win pace this year in the 2nd half is the worst of the last 3 second-halves. #thats2017Cub how much credit do we give to joe and our depth for this? how much is probably just happenstance between maybe easier stretch run schedules (off the top of my head, i doubt that was the case in 2015) and the fact that we've been a very good team for the past 3 seasons? -

people don't bring this game up much because it wasn't a game of much consequence (i remember it because i horsefeathering left early in the 9th like a jerk and wound up watching the end on TV after taking the train home) but if this isn't the furthest i've seen the cubs come back on the win probability chart, it's up there in the top 2 or 3 http://www.fangraphs.com/wins.aspx?date=2008-09-18&team=Brewers&dh=0&season=2008

but jay is a lefty too. although i see now that jay has actually hit better vs lefties in recent years (in limited time) yeah, forgot to mention that jay is basically a non split/reverse split guy at this point

i am starting to have irrational levels of fear of how much jay will play in the playoffs.

meh. snell is a lot better vs. lefties (.276 wOBA against/.330 vs righties) and has never given up a dong to one (in 154 batters faced).

Would be really nice to clinch the division and eliminate them from the playoffs in St Louis. Of course, rolling the Brewers and celebrating in Mileaukee would be nice also. Mainly I want them to clinch the division with a win so we get a celebration on the field. if the magic number is down to 2 for one of those milwaukee games, i'm gonna have to make the drive up.

i've noticed that people keep pointing to starting mitch against minnesota because the steelers are too tough, the packers at lambeau on a short week are too tough, and he gets the luxury of a sort of pseudo-bye week by having an extra few days before the vikings game. i totally understand that last point, and the first one, whatever (it's a home game and he's gonna have to face some good teams, but if you want to avoid that for his first start, fine, i guess, but isn't the vikings defense considered to be on par with pittsburgh too?) all that said, doesn't the packers' defense kinda suck? like it'll probably be the worst one they face until....the saints?
