  1. hasn't posted since mid november
  2. yes, derwood, we know. twitter sucks It does put a fine point on how useless a guy like Heyman is, when anyone with zero information can sound just as "official"
  3. It's just a professional courtesy
  4. What’s this now? Someone on Twitter that tweets like they have a direct connection to the FO. I just ignored them at first but then some other Cubs fans/bloggers I follow interact with them like they were credible-ish. As for that guy... [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. So apparently arrietas most interested suitors right now are the cardinals and cubs I wasn't one of the people who hated him but I really don't want him back
  6. It’s a misleading title in a transactions thread. $20 says Derwood has been tricked at least 3 times seeing this thread bumped and thinking he is signing with the Mariners Derwood is one of those people getting into arguments in FB/article comments after reading only the click bait headline
  7. Did he retroactively not go to Seattle or something? I'mma be honest, I thought Derwood was gonna come in here and be like, "Dexter was on the 2015 team?"
  8. I'm inexorably confused by the words I'm reading right now
  9. i know this isn't the dexter deal you were referring to but man this just made me think of how dexter surprised re-upped with us in 16 and how horsefeathering cool that was
  10. that is so that that this should be posted in the darvish thread
  11. i've read/heard some horrendous things on mcdaniels the last few days. players almost universally saying they hated him and playing for him (while still praising his x's and o's acumen).
  12. wasn't heyman recently carrying water for the wilpons or am i imagining that
  13. I'm somewhat confident in his ability to make this team a quality contender, but aware of his shortcomings to date. This is kinda where I am, maybe slightly more confident. I reserve the right to judge after this offseason which I'm viewing kinda sorta as the Cubs 2014-15 offseason (at least as much as you can apply baseball to this)
  14. horsefeathers. That. Not to be cynical or downplay Wilkes credentials, but I can't think of a widely talked about offensive coach who would have met the Rooney rule requirements (other than Shaw maybe, who isn't realistic IMO). So we were almost surely going to get a defensive coach interview with Wilkes or Austin or someone else if for no other reason than being the top minority candidates. Even the official recommended list was short on offensive minds among minority candidates. that was my first thought too but i felt like a jerk for thinking it
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] I don't know if I'm crazy about shurmer. Know he did a great job with keenum
  16. George being there bothers me a lot less than Teddy. He should be their Crane Kenney.
  17. as for flip, here's a blog i posted in the other thread, along with a couple of clips https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2017/12/26/16818012/john-defilippo-eagles-quarterback-head-coaching-search-philadelphia-bears-giants-browns-carson-wentz Much more at the link.
  18. I mentioned it in the other thread, but I've soured a little on LaFleur. it's for an extremely meatbally reason. i saw some press conference clips of him and he seemed very meek and nervous, which i guess reminds me of the trestman experience and how disastrous it was that he was such a shy dorky weirdo. i'm not sure if that's unfair to him or not (prob not), but he didn't project a vibe of head coach material in terms of personality.
  19. No, I do not believe so. They will have Pace hire whichever non-$8million man he wants. Agreed
  20. We knew Pace was going nowhere, so this was the best case to make sure the best coaching candidates wouldn't be turned off by a potential lame duck GM. So that's a 3 year GM extension and 5 year HC contract? that'd be my guess.
  21. if anyone is wondering why i've soured somewhat on lafleur, it's for an extremely meatbally reason. i saw some press conference clips of him and he seemed very meek and nervous, which i guess reminds me of the trestman experience and how disastrous it was that he was such a weirdo. i'm not sure if that's unfair to him or not, but he didn't project a vibe of head coach material.
  22. i'd like an outside guy too John Brown would be a guy I’d look to add for that and re-sign Inman. Brown, Landry, Inman and a draft pick and a few Cruz/Wright type vet signings would be a intriguing WR corps imo don't forget meredith don't really see much that stands out about brown. i do like the idea of bringing back inman.
