  1. Meh... While I'd like to see an upgrade in LF and in the bullpen, I could live with our current team +Nomar and Williamson, assuming Murton continues to get a good portion of the starts in LF. Still, I'm holding out hope that we'll get a new LF in the next 16.5 hours or so...
  2. Will Carroll said that the Cubs and Twins are done making deals. Other than that there hasn't been a whole lot else new. Manny didn't start tonight, and there's rampant speculation to the reason for it, ranging from him not showing up at the ballpark, to a trade being consumated. So our big deadline trade was Jody Gerut? Yay, we're on the way to the Series now... I suppose that's the case...if you choose to believe Will Carroll. As far as rumors go, I don't consider him a very reliable source...
  3. No way...they're playing the Twins? That's pretty weird. They were playing the Twins last year when our deal went down...
  4. Yea, we heard pretty much the same spiel this time last year...
  5. BURNITZ!!!! AHHH Ramirez has to stop at 3rd..
  6. Same.. I'm just hoping our interest in him is purely to ship him to Bos for Manny...
  7. Maybe this just means Hendry wants in on his own 3-way for Manny w/TB and Boston... :D I can dream, can't I? 8)
  8. I highly, *HIGHLY* doubt that... The White Sox won't pick up that salary... Who knows, though. I could be wrong.
  9. i'll be smiling from ear to ear for probably the whole week :D And people here will still be saying the Cubs offense sucks. You're right...but that just made me think of how sick this lineup would be... Hairston, Walker, Lee, Ramirez, Ramirez, Burnitz, Nomar, Barrett Wow   Oh, and take your pick with the ManRam and ARam 4/5... :)
  10. Tell me about it. In my head, I was thinking... Board really slow = Tons of people online = people talking about a Cubs trade that's just happened Yes, the deadline is driving me crazy hehe, no kidding... Same EXACT thought process just went through my mind.. I resorted to the ESPN and Cubs.com boards for a minute (not until seeing if anyone was on the NSBB emergency board)... lol.. Deadline time is one of my favorite times of year.. :)
  11. Actually, I much prefer that second lineup.. although I'd line it up more like.. Hairston, Walker, Lee, Ramirez, Floyd, Nomar, Burnitz, Barrett As for that first lineup, that's quite a creative outfield you have in that first one too... Burnitz in CF? I know he's played there, but I'm not sure I'd want him there everyday.. And Soriano leading off? :pukel:
  12. Oh please no.... :x :x :x
  13. Ah well.. I think we can all agree that Soriano would be an improvement in LF. Not the improvement many of us would like to see (myself included), but a pretty significant improvement, nonetheless. If we put him at 2B and dump off Walker, I'm not too keen on this. I like Walker, and his OPS is not too far off from Sori's this year (and it's not inflated by a really high SLG/low OBP like Sori's).... I can't say I'd be angry if we got Soriano... but I'd rather get someone else.. Theo Epstein, ya there???
  14. I'm really conflicted on this one. On one hand, it goes against every grain of my being (as a baseball fan, at least, lol) to want a player who has such horrible patience at the plate. He's only going to add to the problem on those days where everyone is swinging at the first pitch and getting easy outs for some no-name pitcher. On the other hand...it would make a big splash, and as much as I hate to admit it, I kinda like it when the Cubs make a big splash. :) He's been a productive hitter despite his deficiencies and it would make the lineup pretty imposing...at least power-wise (not that we need that.. what we need is more baserunners)... Still.. Hairston, Walker, Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Nomar, Burnitz, Barrett... looks pretty scary.. I think I'll just hope that Hendry makes this easy on me and ships him off to the Mets for Floyd or someone else who can help us in both SLG and OBP...
  15. So you're judging the decision simply based on the result? The fact that we got 0 runs, wasn't based on the double switch. Gerut led off the inning with a double, so he did his job and the decision to put him in paid off. Unfortunately we stranded him at 3rd. Again, please tell me what was wrong with leaving Ohman in to pitch the 7th? He's our best situational lefty and there were two lefties leading off the 7th. On the last page I posted what Ohman has done in situations where he's been asked to go 1 and 2/3 innings. He's done it 6 times for a total of 10 innings with 5 base runners allowed and 0 runs. He can obviously handle working more than 1 inning. I think he's judging the decision on how stupid it is to play for ONE RUN...regardless of whether they got it or not. The fact that they scored none only makes it look even dumber in hindsight.
  16. Johnny B. Baker is an imbecile. He's an abomination as a manager, and it's a disgrace that the man gets paid millions of dollars to manage a baseball team. I'd take Jim Riggleman over the guy...
  17. Well, that worked out great, didn't it? A 3rd extra inning game in a row would be a good thing, at this point...
  18. Just stoppin in to say what a GREAT move it was to leave Zambrano in for the 8th inning.. after 112 pitches..
  19. LMAO at this thread... Let's be serious. Todd Walker is not one of the problems of this team.
