  1. You were saying??/  YEA BABY!!!
  2. Please tell me this is some kind of joke?? :x
  3. He hits a lot of ropes, as well. Yea, I know. I definitely wasn't taking a shot at him. I want him starting everyday over Dutchvalue...
  4. MURTON!!!! :D :D :D 1-1 Boy does Murton get a lot of those hits LOL...
  5. Didn't Vizquel ever face Maddux in the 95 World Series? It might be splitting hairs, but I figured he did...
  6. Good baserunning.. first to third on the hit! NICE
  7. Jeez, Hairston.. You stink!! It's called HITTING, not WALKING.. :x
  8. Wow... I thought that was gone at first... Whew
  9. What a great at bat by Neifi!
  10. Aramis really should be hitting cleanup on a daily basis. There's no excuse for Burnitz to be hitting ahead of him. That whole lefty/righty thing is nonsense.
  11. Had a great AB, regardless of the outcome. Really worked the pitcher.
  12. So you're saying offensively he's been in the middle of the pack in terms of NL shortstops? Currenly, among 13 qualified SS in the NL, Neifi is 11th in OPS, 12th in OBP, and 10th in AVG. Thanks, I was about to post this.. :) I was just waiting for SJCF to respond... I was really surprised to see how far down the list Izturis had dropped...
  13. Time for baseball!! :D (A little late, I know..)
  14. So you're saying offensively he's been in the middle of the pack in terms of NL shortstops?
  15. neifi perez couldn't hit .370 in AAA i've watched almost every game, and neifi has been average. not terrible. not good. simply average. sorry. it's funny that people keep bringing up defense too, because that also happens to be one of cedeno's biggest strengths. also, no one on this board said that dubois was as good as holla in the field. lots of people said that hollandsworth isn't a huge upgrade over dubois defensively, but no one ever said that dubois was just as good as hollandsworth. for the record, todd is another player that shouldn't be playing everyday either. i watch every game objectively. neifi's grand slam was nice, his hit last night was nice, but there's about 200 ABs or so that have been appalling. my exact quote when neifi hit that home run was, "YESSS! NO WAY!! NEIFI! YOU STILL ARE A HORRIBLE BASEBALL PLAYER BUT YESSS!" you make it sound like we root for him to fail. i think you need to look at him objectively. it's not like people are throwing out crazy baseball prospectus stats around to prove his worthlessness. his obp is .280 for chrissakes. TWO EIGHT ZERO The other funny thing is when people suddenly want us to change our tune because he has one good game (or even AB)... We're not that fickle. He sucks. You can say it's an opinion, I consider it a fact. It would take a whole lot more than he's done this year (which, again, has been BELOW his career averages) to convince me otherwise.
  16. If you can get the same production out of Cedeno as you would Neifi (and I happen to think there's a VERY good possibility that Ronny could outproduce him), why on earth wouldn't you play the younger player who may have a future on your team over a mediocre (if that) major leaguer?
  17. I really have to take issue with the people that say Neifi is the worst offensive player in recent baseball history... Rey Ordonez, anyone? Not so funny is the fact that both have hit at the top of our order in the last couple of years.
  18. We under appreciate Neifi. He's a career sub who has filled in admirably. Let's not have short memories, Neifi and DLee were carrying the offense when Aramis and Corey were automatic outs early in the season. Without going into the same debate again, I'll have to strongly disagree. Neifi did well in April, but he's regressed to his career numbers, which I don't want on the roster at all. Nonsense. Since May 1: .241/.261/.337/.598 Who's been worse? I dont get your point. There was little alternative. Instead of picking out Neifi's May stats I think its much more appropriate to point out others, on the team, that are being paid to hit for average and drive in runs. Aramis had a horrible start to the season and so did Barrett. Plus, Todd Walker's bat was also out of the lineup which compounded the problem. The bottom line is, Neifi Perez isn't paid to get the big hits. There is no reason to be angry with him. However, one could take issue with Dusty keeping him at the top of the lineup once he started to struggle. Paging Ronny Cedeno...?? Oh.. and you hit the nail on the head on that last point. I'm not mad at Neifi. He seems like a good guy, from what I've seen. My issue is with Dusty playing Neifi, and letting poor Ronny C, who might actually have a future in the major leagues, rot on the bench.
  19. Maybe Demp is out there hitting golf balls..
  20. The argument defending Neifi is nonsense... It doesn't matter that he had a good month or two! In the months he was complete garbage he hurt us just as much (if not more) as he helped us in the months he was good. What it all boils down to is .265/.286/.378 for the season, which is below his career averages and is horrid. Numbers like that are a detriment to an offense, no matter how much you try to put a spin on it. You can't overlook the time he has sucked just like you can't overlook the time he was out-of-his-mind HOT.. EDIT - in response to the best backup infielder comment... On the Cubs alone, I wouldn't put it past Ronny Cedeno to perform better than Neifi Perez.
  21. AC = "Anno Catuli" which is Latin for "Year of our Cubs" the first two digits (should be 01) are the number of years since we won the division (last time was in 2003) the second set of digits (60) is the number of years since we've won the pennant (i.e. gone to the world series). the last set of digits (97) is the number of years since we've won the World Series. I always thought the AC was "After Championship" and then there was the Eamus Catuli sign which was Latin for "Go little bears" or something like that... Guess it could be either one..
  22. Well, I mean.. so many games left with the Cards... If we sweep... Ah, hell.. nevermind. Wild Card it is..
