Hyperbole. That trade would've been far worse than this move. As a side note, making Jones a platoon player wouldn't be that bad a move, as Jones is actually a major league hitter against righties. Of course, Murton's AB's would then be quite limited. Pet peeve: identifying one poster's feelings as hyperbole. There was no deliberate exaggeration in my post whatsoever. Signing, and likely overpaying for, someone like Preston Wilson forcing Murton to the bench would be an assinine move. Murton will likely duplicate, if not better, Wilson's production at the league minimum, not to mention taking on that additional, and extremely unnecessary salary could potentially limit mid-season deals to help the team. So yes, signing Wilson would, as my post said, nearly make me as sick as trading Prior for Tejada. Well, with all due respect, trading Prior would make me not want to watch a Cubs game for a long LONG time (although, of course, I would), while signing Wilson, while it would bum me out a little, would affect me no further than any of the other stupid moves we've made so far this offseason. Trading Prior is monumentally bad. Signing Wilson...eh.
