    Wildcard Weekend

Great point I didn't think of that. Yea. Hopefully they can get as lucky w/turnovers and tipped balls as they did today and pull an upset. I'd love a rematch in the NFC title game with this fraud of a playoff team.

I didn't like this outcome for the Bears. Washington doesn't look like a team that can beat Seattle, and I was really hoping to see the NFC Championship game here. :?

Better than Washington? I don't think so. Definitely. Tampa Bay was the better team today. Washington was lucky as can be.
  4. For Tejada at SS (without giving up Prior) I could almost live with it. Grissom in the OF would be beyond hideous, though. Craig Wilson, please.

Yes, go Bucs! I want them in the 2nd round matchup at Soldier.
  6. Yea, I miss him too...at least the Sammy from 2001. That was a hell of a year. He had his moments in the 2003 NLCS too...remember that shot off the camera-shed in CF? And the tying bomb in Game 1 with two strikes and two outs in the bottom of the ninth. I was at the game in 98 where he hit 61 and 62 also. If I remember right, Grace ended that game with a walkoff. Great memories.
  7. Although NORMALLY I wouldn't say a quarter or two of play is enough to determine ANYTHING, I think you've said all that needs to be said in this case. Nothing to really discuss.
  8. Hyperbole. That trade would've been far worse than this move. As a side note, making Jones a platoon player wouldn't be that bad a move, as Jones is actually a major league hitter against righties. Of course, Murton's AB's would then be quite limited. Pet peeve: identifying one poster's feelings as hyperbole. There was no deliberate exaggeration in my post whatsoever. Signing, and likely overpaying for, someone like Preston Wilson forcing Murton to the bench would be an assinine move. Murton will likely duplicate, if not better, Wilson's production at the league minimum, not to mention taking on that additional, and extremely unnecessary salary could potentially limit mid-season deals to help the team. So yes, signing Wilson would, as my post said, nearly make me as sick as trading Prior for Tejada. Well, with all due respect, trading Prior would make me not want to watch a Cubs game for a long LONG time (although, of course, I would), while signing Wilson, while it would bum me out a little, would affect me no further than any of the other stupid moves we've made so far this offseason. Trading Prior is monumentally bad. Signing Wilson...eh.

  10. Walker is NOT gone and there is no deal where he is rumored in recently. Therefore Walker is still a Cub and still can be considered a top 5 offensive 2B. As far as the CF comment how many CF are better then Pierre? Off the top of my head... Edmonds, Griffey, Jones, Beltran, Wilkerson, Damon, Sizemore All guys I'd take over Pierre. EDIT - I'll throw in Bradley for good measure.
  11. Just thought I'd pass this on for those who might be interested. It's actually from last week, but I hadn't seen it and figured you guys might not have either. I know most people here (if not all) were already for the QB switch, but it's still interesting. http://www.protrade.com/insight/InsightArticleDetail.html?sp=KRC636805&sp=S%2Fprotrade%2Fstories%2Fanalyst%2Fjeff+ma%2F&x=x
  12. This horrific trade aside, who is the top five CF? And you can't count on top 5 production at 2B since Walker is likely gone.
  13. Japanese all the way here Lexus IS300 Before that was a Honda Accord Coupe
  14. I think there is definitely something there. Every long pass was catchable except 1 or 2. The other element that comes into play with the long pass is pass interference calls on the beaten pass defenders. I would love to see the offense completely open up the field. Maybe even work on finding a way to get Clark open a little more, also. He's become almost a non factor as a pass receiver. Rex throws a nice pass. I'm really excited about the offense now. Not sure what happened with the defense this week, but even the 1985 Bears had an off week against an NFL great in Miami. the packers match up well against the bears, at least, favre does. he throws a great intermediate pass, right through the window of the cover 2, and he throws the slant better than probably any QB in history. these are the two passes that the bears defense has trouble with. what concerns me is that harris, scott, and tank weren't getting a very good push up the middle--while i expected wale and brown to have SOME trouble with tauscher and clifton. urlacher and briggs had another bad tackling day and tillman played poorly, but the bears still won. yesterday's game is a great example of what the bears can do with grossman under center, they can win without the defense having a particularly good game. Yep... Yesterday's game with Orton would've looked a lot like the Pittsburgh game. With Rex in there, they can overcome an off day by the de, which is what I've been calling for all along with Rex. He doesn't have to throw for 300 yards. That said, I wish they would've stayed a little more aggressive on offense in the second half. They were WAY too predictable with the run. It seemed like the only time they even attempted to pass was on 3rd down.
  15. He can't talk about the proposed trade, it's tampering. He definitely COULD say that we're not trading Prior (or Z, for that matter) which is all I really wanted to hear him say. But he didn't.
  16. I don't care who hears it... Guys, I just want to cry..    This CANNOT happen...
  17. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=10235 Neyer's credibility has really fallen into question with me now. :x
  18. Note: Its Mike Brown, not Alex Brown. Why? Why what? Because it is? :? BEAR DOWN!!! Thank God we have the Bears, because the Cubs are just pissin me off.
  19. I know beggars can't be choosers, but no, no, and no.
  20. That's for sure. He was a little more hesitant to make this change, but when push came to shove, he made it.
  21. If anyone wants to see what that byebyecorey guy is saying about the events tonight, check out this thread... http://forums.espn.go.com/espn/thread?forumID=101&threadID=2861428&lastPostID=17212482 But I warn you, upon entry to the ESPN boards, you lose like 10 IQ points automatically. It's to the point where I think he's trolling...
  22. I never was a Grossman hater, but I was an Orton apologist. I'm fully admitting I was wrong now though... I can't blame you.. Switching the QB with a 9-4 record is a tough call. But I think this was definitely one of those rare exceptions where the change was justified. I supported KO as soon as Rex went down, but with all the hard work Rex put in to rehabbing, and the fact that Orton didn't really take control of the job, I wanted Rex in as soon as he was ready. I'm bustin right now... bustin!
  23. LOL, anyone remember byebyesammy/byebyecorey/byebyekerry from the ESPN boards? He is also a Grossman hater (surprise) and insists that Orton would have done just as well as Rex did. He attributes the difference in performance to the game situation... LMAO
  24. I'm worried about Rex having to play on the Field Turf again in that final game... We've lost more than a few players to that crappy turf.
