  1. It's just an incorrect story that the AP or another newswire is probably running with. It was on sports radio and in the papers and very well publicized that Tank received permission to go to Miami and the judge, a Packer fan, said something to the effect of, "...but you won't be needing to go."
  2. Seriously. For once, I don't mind the roll-eyes. How many QB's have performed like Rex has with the amount of game experience Rex has? Not many. Hell, look at Drew Brees's first couple of seasons. If you compare, his numbers are right there with any of the greats this early in his career. He may or may not become a great QB (all it will really take is the consistency to turn his clunkers into mediocre games like yesterday), but how anyone could pass judgment on him already, based on what he's shown, is beyond me. To be fair (and trying to stay out of the "is Rex good" debate), RSF said Rex IS not good at football. I don't recall reading anything from him saying Rex WILL NOT be good at football or HAS NO CHANCE at being good at football later. If you make it to the NFL, you "are good" at football.(Quasim Mitchell being the exception). His post was far from anything "rational". While I'm on your side about how RSF was being anything but rational, this isn't really the argument to make. When talking about bad and good players within the context of the NFL, we're talking about how good they are relative to the talent in the league. Otherwise, you could never say that anyone in a professional league is bad at his particular sport. They're all, by definition, the best players of their game in the world.

But to say that somebody who posted a 100 rating in 7 games, was pretty good in 4-6 others, and then, admittedly, crapped the bed in ~5 games, is not good at football is malarkey. Let's not even mention that this particular player helped carry the team down the stretch when his defense was struggling (including in a playoff game) and is about to play in the Super Bowl. It's absurd.

  6. At least both of them answered "no". Theisman answered no, but said that's only because he hasn't played in the Super Bowl yet. Gee, it's not like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have played in and won Super Bowls or anything.
  7. After yesterday's game, I don't mind the disrespect at all. The team may or may not be inspired by it, but it certainly doesn't hurt anything. At the very least, they like to say they're inspired by it. On top of that, the Colts probably SHOULD be favored over the Bears. But I think the Bears can definitely win this game. The defense just has to come to play again.
  8. Anyone ordered one of these yet?
  9. Well, at least the national media will have something they enjoy covering instead of having to write about these boring crappy Bears. Not to veer off the thread topic, but I really don't understand how the Bears have gotten this reputation as a boring team. Granted, it might be because I'm a Bears fan, but I find the way this team plays incredibly fun to watch. On the other hand, I didn't find the 2005 team nearly as exciting. The offense was boring, and the team just eeked out victories with their defense for the most part. This year's team, though? A big play defense (the only part of this equation that's really a constant from last year). An offense that can make the big play. A punishing, exciting RB in Benson. An unprecedented ability to run balls back on special teams. This team has completely and thoroughly dominated the opposition several times this year.
  10. Exactly. One thing I love about Rex is that he hasn't been shy to pick on weaker defensive players at all this year. The Giants game was another example of this. Rex just kept going after the guy in the second half, regardless of what receiver the guy was covering. Was it Sam Madison? Corey Webster? Granted, you don't want to be predictable in where you're going, but if there's a weakness, I love the idea that we're going to relentlessly attack and try to exploit it.
  11. I seriously doubt that made a lick of difference. Do the Bears D have to get taunted to play hard and effective? No, they just need to play a team with a better defense, like the Saints, to get inspired. I love it.
  12. And I hope Hendry is right about Izturis. But, I'm very, very skeptical that Izturis will be any better with a bat than the worst SS's in the league. if he stays healthy & plays great defense, does it really matter what he hits? the sox & cards won the WS with guys who had .713 & .694 ops's respectively. Of course it matters. That black hole in the lineup has more of an impact than anything he does on defense, no matter how good his glove is. Those teams may have won with those shortstops, but it wasn't because of them.
  13. Jeran at the Bears.com boards put together & posted this awesome, IMO, background/desktop pic. Just thought I'd pass it along to you guys in case anyone wants it. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g114/thenaughties/bearssbxli_wp2.jpg?t=1169459494
  14. Pinch me. I still can't believe it. Wow. The Bears are in the biggest game of the year. The biggest sporting event in the country, if not the world. Just going to try to enjoy this for the bye and then start worrying about the Super Bowl next week. 8-)
  15. BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA I gave the Saints much too much credit. GO HOME BUMS
  16. Ah, the annual pre-spring training "Z loses weight" discussion.
  17. Did you consider going into the hallway and shorting out one of the electrical outlets with a paperclip? Thats playing with fire man. What if he shorted out the power for the building, then no TV today. Good point.
  18. Yea, there's been a bit of a freezing drizzle off and on for the last couple hours.

  20. I love it.
  21. Do they have NFC/AFC Championship MVPs? I honestly can't remember.
  22. IIRC, according to some reports that was the off-season where he made some adjustments and got his velo up to where he could touch 99. (I'll look it up to make sure) Heh. I had forgotten about that. I remember getting really excited at the prospect of that. Now I'd give up a body part (well, not any) just to get the 2003 Prior back...
