No idea what will happen but I wouldnt doubt if Bryce definitely wants to be a Cub. I met and talked alot of baseball with Harper once. He did say him and KB talk about being in the same lineup "all the time"... this was 2 summers ago. I know some people who have spoken with KB's dad who say he always tries to play up that they weren't really good friends growing up and it's overblown and blah blah. But maybe they are better friends now. It sure seems like it. And maybe (actually, no, not maybe) KB's dad is just one of those horsefeathers baseball dads (yes, he is).
Most of us are! For the record, I want Bryce Harper, too. But let's just be grateful we all decided to be Cubs fans, because I imagine to small and mid market fans, we sound like some real spoiled bitches. Those owners aren't poor either.
HA...i mean if only in the sense that concussions are a red herring (at least for football) to try to make it seem like football would be safer if concussions are reduced. the constant collisions are the real issue, as the brain is being dinged up constantly. i'd imagine it's much the same for other high contact sports.
I feel like there's also a reason even the most pessimistic local reports refuse to completely slam the door on it by couching what they say with stuff like "as of right now" or "if they move money" and whatever else they've used.
The Lester thing was treated with a lot of skepticism, IIRC, because the Cubs were still terrible and it was a lot of money. The Heyward thing was treated with skepticism because people didn't think they would go out and make a huge signing two years in a row, IIRC. The Tanaka thing was treated with a ton of skepticism because of the rebuild "they're not gonna spend big on this guy when they're 8 million years away blah blah" But there were obviously rumors about all of them. It wasn't completely out of nowhere.
They also didn’t tell everyone they couldn’t afford him. The Otani courting was also very public as it happened Even though I'm not even sure that's true (at least, being made so from the Cubs side of things), there was just about nothing to negotiate with Ohtani because teams could either pay him nothing or a little more than nothing.
turnover on downs is still a turnover, no? the same thing irked me a little in another game... i think it was the thanksgiving detroit game. but, whatever, they can get their stats.
It’s why Mark Gonzales is one of my favorite follows for Cubs stuff. He doesn’t speculate/push things, he just reports stuff as it happens. At least on twitter. Not to mention his elite photography skills. Also for typing that guys went 2 x 4 instead of 2/4
