  1. if derosa's capable of playing ss, he damn well better be playing everyday. He did play there for a game last year. Does anyone remember which game that was? I can't say I remember it.
  2. I could handle Prior coming back and having success in the baseball abyss that is Baltimore much better than I could anywhere in the NL.
  3. Wow? I didn't ignore the age of the players, because the age of Cedeno and Theriot is insignificant - unless the Cubs are banking on either one of the two guys to being the SS of their future. So, why should the Cubs suffer through having Cedeno learn "on the job?" Sure he has plenty of talent, but mentally he is not a mature player - as you can tell if you note his baserunning miscues, his mental errors defensively, and his mindless approach at the plate. I'd love for Cedeno to pull it all together and take the SS job, but until that happens Theriot is best option on the Cubs roster. It's not a "man crush" or hate for Cedeno. Because you don't lose anything, Theriot is already the baseline of performance. If Cedeno fails, then he's Theriot. Perfect way of putting it. Hell, even in Cedeno's TERRIBLE 2006, the difference in OPS was only .610 to Theriot's .672 of 2007.
  4. You're right, your subjective first-hand account based on your memory should carry much more weight than stats.
  5. So what's this thread gonna be called when he actually does make it official?
  6. In for Dusty destroying yet another arm.
  7. Hmmm.... Irony Well, actually, I'm not sure it's the Astros, but yea.
  8. Um, has everyone missed the fact that Jose Hernandez (from his Cubs days) would have been a massive upgrade over Theriot? Oh, and Jose Hernandez of today is about as good (or bad) as Theriot.
  9. Not gonna comment on the numbers a whole lot, except to say that I'm optimistic on Soto too. The high end looks like a reach, but the low end looks pretty doable to me, and that, along with his abilities behind the plate, would make him one of the best catchers in the league. As for the rest of it, the numbers actually look pretty realistic. I'd put the SS combo (unless, by some miracle, it were DeRosa) 7th, Soto 6th, Pie 8th, and Fuku 2nd. I know it's doubtful, though, because Lou probably wants his lefties (or switch, in Roberts's case) split up.
  10. Oh, and... I thought Carpenter's surgery was a shoulder procedure very similar to Prior's, was it not?
  11. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071209&content_id=2321912&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Wow. So which one of you jokers sent this in? Oh, I also love that the response to that question is that he can't stay healthy. I guess he does qualify under Hendry's prerequisites, though.
  12. Talk about damning with faint praise.... Oh, and there's no way he'll turn out to be an Omar Vizquel.
  13. He has baseball abilities, just not real toolsy (not real fast, avg. arm, ok hands) I tend to brush hitting mechanics to the side, if he can center the ball and drive it, which Derosa does well. I don't mind them looking @ Roberts (depending on cost) as it gives the Cubs needed depth espec. as a bat off the bench and a good player who can play mult. positions. This team will suffer injuries next year and he will have value in that role. I'm telling you that a guy who personally does training lessons with Mark DeRosa told me that he lacks a lot of the "baseball ability" and makes up for it with his athletic ability, this is not my quote this is a guy who personally trains him, so I'd say that it's gotta be pretty accurate. Just FYI, let's just say Ping knows what he's talking about, too.
  14. She's just another Paris Hilton. Maybe slightly less high profile. Only famous for being a rich daughter (her dad was one of OJ's lawyers). Has a reality show. Sex tape out too. Pretty much a waste of space/air...but a good looking one.
  15. Meh, I don't mind her face at all. Especially attached to that body. Roast, this is the first you've seen/heard of her?
  16. I heart your av. I'm not gunna lie.. Im obsessd with Kim Kardashian..She has taken the medal from Elisha Cuthbert Her, um, lower body is beyond ridiculous.

  18. I was wondering the same thing. I guess I don't watch enough TV. I've never heard about or seen this. you ever go on them there interwebs? Some people go onto the interwebs to work. Not waste time watching weird crap. Or waste time on a baseball forum, amirite?
  19. Oh no you didn't. Please tell me you aren't referring to Cesar Izturis. Seemed to me he was referring to Aramis and Lee.... ?
  20. Yea, I was tricked at first, too. Soriano at leadoff and Soto 8th threw me off.
  21. If they get Roberts and Fukudome, and do nothing else, how many runs would the lineup conceivably score? Anyone? Meph? Let's say lineup A with Fuku in RF, Pie in CF, Roberts at 2B and DeRo on the bench (ugh) The other likely option would be Fuku in CF, DeRo in RF, and so on..
  22. If signing a 32 year old secondbaseman-turned-outfielder (an overrated one, at that) coming off a career year to a massive, backloaded 8 year contract = "headed in the right direction," then we must have been pretty freaking off course in the first place. I blame Hendry for both of those failures. He's made a few good moves, but you can't somehow cite those as a way to justify the overall failure of his tenure to produce a good baseball team, particularly when you take into account the payroll he has had at his disposal.
