  1. I'm gonna say trading Barrett for Wells is a bad idea. Similar players and one is about to get a ginormous contract.
  2. I agree that guys like Neifi and Izturis have value on teams that have the ability to score runs. However, playing much of the season without Izturis, the Cubs are the 4th best defensive team in MLB. Playing much of the season without Izturis, the Cubs are dead last in runs scored. Defense was not the problem with this roster. Instead of filling a hole, Hendry has created more holes for him to field. Hendry solved a problem that didn't exist. How did he create more holes with the Izturis trade?
  3. I don't remember that specifically, but Patterson leaping the GABP wall is up there too as far as recent catches go.
  4. Don't jerk me around, Norm If this is real it better happen.
  5. Aaron Brooks, QB, Oakland
  6. EPatt with a sac fly in his 3rd AB Pie now 1 for 4 with the 3B Ryu: 6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 9/2
  7. Restovich is 3 for 3 with another triple  Pie is now 1 for 3 with his triple Ryu with only 2 hits given up thru 3, no walks and 5 K's EDIT: And apparently old pal Eric Young is down at Oklahoma, as he got tossed by the home plate umpire in the first.
  8. Is something seriously wrong with Fontenot? and many hoorays for EPatt
  9. Mabry has been downright bad this year. Nevin might work coming off the bench, but as he ages his inability to be anything but a 1B would concern me, especially since we have a RH first baseman. And that suggested bench wouldn't be all that strong at all. It has 2 okay hitters in Jones/Murton and Nevin, one (relative) unknown in Pagan, and the rest are offensive black holes.
  10. That's payback for when Pujols hit that RBI single off Wuertz in April on a pitch he had no business hitting through the left side.
  11. Hmm.. well my Motorola phone isn't exactly firefox, since it's Internet explorer browser. I don't think that it will work that way. Is there anything like that addons that would work for internet explorer? Not to my knowledge. Well, that's a bummer for me then, since I relocated to Overland Park, and that my only source of internet connection is from my phone. It's a good phone and all, just really sucks when I want to reply to a certain topic/discussion, only to find out that it won't work on the reply post. That's pretty much why I'm not around here as much as I would had liked to be. Oh well, someday soon I'll be able to get the internet back on a computer, and all will be well. Aside from that, how well does the phone work for you internet-wise?
  12. He didn't. Dempster started by walking Edmonds. Ack, misread Gamecenter, thanks
  13. So do you guys think he is going through a hot streak or is he going to be that good? He's the 2006 version of Matt Murton in 2005.
  14. At the Major League level, the average is about .300 I believe. What's considered sustainable is often a function of how many line drives a player hits, but very few major leaguers (less than 20 this year) reach a BABIP over .350, and even fewer than that can consistently reach that mark.
  15. He's at the back of the line.
  16. What were you saying about making up statistics? Identical WHIP, O'Malley has a slight edge with ERA, HR/9, etc. All of their non-K numbers are similar. O'Malley has been consistently mediocre his entire career. Hill went from bad to ridiculously good. Using career minor league numbers for a player who had such a dramatic turnaround as Hill did is going to be skewed. And even then, the fact that Hill has TWICE as many K's as O'Malley is extremely significant.
  17. What were you saying about making up statistics?
  18. I may have to create a "Felix Pie is my homeboy" T-Shirt.
  19. The Cubs could easily afford to sign Dusty Baker to a 10 year $50 million contract, that doesn't make it a smart move. If you're dying of thirst in the desert, and someone offers you an ice cold water bottle for $100, is it a dumb move to "overpay"? Not if there's a guy two feet away who will set it to you for $5. Yeah, how is Scott Williamson doing now, anyway? Hint: We already know Hendry is stupid.
