  1. There's an extensive thread two topics down.
  2. to the decade or Pierre's numbers? A year or 2 off the right decade, and about 60 points of slugging off the numbers also. He was within the last 10 years, that's how I took decade. Also, it's about 30 points of slugging with a slight OBP advantage. I'd like to see how the OPS+ works out before saying one way or the other.
  3. Lance Johnson was pretty close too.
  4. Check the "Disable Smilies in this post" box when making your post.
  5. whats wrong with keeping pierre? with his resurgence he can be a .750 (he's already at .727 even with his horrible first few months) ops guy next year. he plays great defense (aside from the noodle arm) and will have 50 steals this year. i dont see any way that they dont try to resign him. i believe the cubs have already said that they see pie as a #5 or 6 hitter anyway rather than a leadoff guy (i think it was oneri?). i think he will be switched to rf in iowa next year. if he takes off in 07 in aaa, they can always trade jones & bring pie up. Keeping Pierre in CF and putting Pie in RF are both disastrous ideas for an already poor offense.
  6. I didn't realize the Murray State mascot cleaned up so well.
  7. I guess there's reasons why this is a good thing, but imo they're overshadowed by the several terrible decisions that this portends(making Pie a leadoff hitter, keeping Pierre, not doing anything with Jones in RF, etc.)
  8. Right. How is he being "ruined?" Isn't he the best defensive 3rd baseman in the NL at this point? Are you serious? Maybe it's one of those Hendryisms. "Ramirez is the best defensive third baseman in the NL of guys who have less than 8 vowels in their full name and were born on a Sunday in an even numbered month."
  9. Your tireless efforts through the season have paid off. Kudos.

  12. Gameday you lying sack of crap, you said out(s) recorded and I got excited that we had taken over last place.
  13. http://www.news-journalonline.com/NewsJournalOnline/Sports/Headlines/sptCUBS01090506.htm and an article on the DCubs. Like a season in review type thing. Characterizing Marshall, Hill, and Marmol as "marginal" seems like a stretch. I thought the same thing. Maybe marginal means something different to Goldstein, but my idea of marginal arms is the Sergio Mitres of the world.
  14. Agreed on all fronts. I was going more for clarification than stating an opinion.
  15. I'd add Aramis and all the young starters(Marshall/Marmol/Hill/Guzman/Mateo) to your list to make mine. EDIT: Lee too.
  16. Ejected after he slammed his helmet to the ground after being thrown out on a groundball. Not sure if he was upset about the call or his performance.
  17. Who were the opponents for the other games? And were any of those night games? Those are two factors that come immediately to mind.
  18. Bill Wirts, the Blackhawks owner, thinks he can do worse. David Glass of the Royals thinks he has a strong case. James Dolan of the Knicks wants a piece of this action. Donald Sterling of the Clippers puts his team into the fold of worst run. And will, I do I agree the Cubs are a pretty bad organization is sports, I can still think of a few teams that are worse in their history then the Cubs. I think the Blackhawks are still worse. In the baseball world though. Glass has much, much, MUCH less to work with than Hendry. I'll throw Jimbo's hat in the ring for most incompetent GM in MLB. And as for '03, it has become abundantly clear we owe thanks to the Pirates for that little miracle, not Jim Hendry. Glass is the owner. It's his fault there's nothing to work with.
  19. I don't see an avatar at all for SAMMYWHO.
  20. I see my man Knipp had a pick last week. Let me know how he looks out there.
  21. Well, they're undefeated. To give you an idea, they're a pretty young team with a JUCO quarterback in the Michael Vick mold. Mizzou is an 8 point favorite.
  22. Yeah, I'd say that if Penn State loses, it'll be a tight tossup style game, or ND will run them out of South Bend. First home game, ranked opponent, QB making his first start on the road, there's a lot that works against PSU.
  23. Is OU really that bad? Did they lose a bunch of players to graduation last year?
