  1. That was said as an optimistic hope, not with any sense of entitlement. No one thinks Mizzou is more deserving than anyone else, that's why he said he HOPES we are playing well enough to have that happen when the time comes.
  2. Wuertz is the best pitcher in the history of the known universe
  3. With Georgia at Florida being scheduled for the same day (Oct 28) Missouri-OU doesn't have a chance for GameDay. That's a CBS game, right? If Mizzou-OU is the saturday night game, I'd think they'd come to CoMo rather than fly Herbstreit from Florida to Missouri. Especially if neither team loses before then(which would mean OU beating Texas and Mizzou being 8-0). Heck, poll wise it would probably be a similar matchup, especially with Florida having a chance to lose at Auburn the week before.
  4. On the Mizzou end, the Colorado game next week will be on FSN in many regions, which is good news($$ and exposure). Unfortunately it means another 11:30 start for those attending. Also, the Mizzou website lists the following two games(@ Tech, @ aTm) as TBA, but ESPN has them as 7 PM and 2PM EST starts respectively. Could be good news for Cubbies75's hope that the Tech game is national. Congrats on your hot start TT! When does your team play a divison 1 team? :D After each win the better the exposure. If you guys can continue to go undefeated soon enough you'll have Corso gracing your stage. We were one of the studs SEC powerhouse Ole Miss played! :P It's nice to still have overzealous dreams at this point in the season though. Last year New Mexico crushed any hope real early, and this year there's been a 100% improvement in the defense. I don't think we've called a blitz all year because the Front 4 has been so fantastic. Like others have said, as things have unfolded I'd be disappointed with anything but a 5-0 start, but then going to Lubbock and College Station will show how good we really are.

  6. So drop neither and let some one else take Rex off the waivers? Yeah.
  7. What if instead of part of the body or the full body, they gave them a yard? That still prevents cherry picking, and won't force defenders to pack it in tight. Or maybe it would, like I said, I don't really know much about the game. I think that would make it exponentially harder to officiate, since most of the time it's one guy taking off in one direction and the other guy sliding forward in the opposite direction.
  8. Are you sure it's a PPR league?
  9. First of all, anything as drastic as removing offsides isn't going to happen. The sport is wildly popular all over the world and the rules firmly entrenched, and I don't know of any widespread desire to eradicate offsides. Secondly, and most importantly, eliminating offsides would do the opposite of what you intend. Instead of the cat and mouse game of trying to time runs into open space, you'd have defenses that packed way in, and not doing nearly as much on the offensive side of the ball. So what you'd see would be even more conservative than the play you see with offsides. What about relaxing offsides as opposed to minimizing it? I don't understand the rule all that well, but from what I can tell, I agree with your theory of what would happen if it was eliminated. But what if you just gave a little more leeway to the offensive player? I've seen too many would-be exciting plays stopped by the rule, when all it really was was one player beating another. You shouldn't get punished for that. I don't know how much could be done to relax it, aside from maybe changing it from any part of the body being off to the full body being off, or maybe eliminating offsides inside the 18 or something like that. It does suck that a guy who runs past a player and just mistimes his run gets punished, but kind of like I referred to earlier, it serves to protect defensive players who get involved with the attack by pushing up.
  10. Theriot just isn't at that level, I'm afraid.
  11. I'm(1-0) up 9 on Burnt(0-1) with each of us having 2 guys tonight. Uber(1-0) needs some good luck to knock off O_O(1-0). ChiCubs(1-1) slaughtered Tobias(0-2). Roast moves to 2-0 by beating Vance(1-1). And IMB(1-1) continues his ownership of Raw(0-2)
  12. I can't see him being any worse than Pierre in CF. It might be smarter to find a stud RF and platoon Jones with Murton, the problem is there's no chance in hell Hendry even considers such a move. Is it more likely that he considers Jones in CF? He's played 11 games there in the last 6 years. I honestly don't think he'd be a significant improvement defensively over Pierre, with a chance that he'd be worse, with his poor arm(a different bad arm than Pierre though) and less footspeed to cover the gaps that I doubt his route running would make up for.
  13. I can see that approach being used in a mid or low market team. But I don't see the Cubs or any other large market team gambling on more than one young non-stud position player in the everyday lineup (the Mets with Reyes and Wright are an exception, because those two are exceptional players). The Cubs will be expected to reload instead of rebuild. In other words, I think Murton has an edge over Theriot as that one guy to gamble on, unless Murton pushed out for a power LF. Then maybe Theriot gets the job. In order to consider both Murton and Theriot, you'd have to really improve SS and CF, but the market for those positions is tighter than LF and 2B, and the current GM has a love affair with guys already on the roster at those positions (Izturis and Pierre). if thats the way the cubs think they they deserve to lose. they only thing they should be "expected" to do is win. if they havent learned yet that they arent going to win by signing high priced free agents instead of looking to their own system, there is little hope for the future imo. You have to balance the two. The Cubs have a high payroll, and it would be foolish for them not to use it. They can be more efficient by spending big in certain areas if they go young in others. With Hill/Marmol/Marshall/Guzman/Mateo competing for a rotation spot, Murton a strong possibility to be a full-time starter, and Pie ready/nearly ready for the big leagues, there's not a lot of need to overslot a utility guy into 2B and leadoff.

  15. Jones is a bad defensive RF, he'd be quite poor defensively in CF. I really don't want him put there for any extended period of time. It's much easier to just find him a platoon partner(or trade for a stud RF and platoon him and Murton in LF, which would be expensive but ideal).
  16. I don't know if this is what you're saying, but are you saying that first place teams are there because they win close games, and some of those are won because they do little things like hustle?
  17. That's the difference between easy games and hard games. I don't follow. I was referring to DC, not Manchester. Although in hindsight it's astonishingly poor wording on my part.
  18. Together? No. We'd probably have to meet in person for that to happen.
  19. TWO points from Julius and TO combined. Threw away a chance to put it away. Now I've got a 10 point lead with Parker and JAX Defense v. Roethlisberger and Taylor.
  20. OU isn't bad though. They handled NIU and they've got Solich(has he ever lost to Mizzou?). On the other hand we've got home field and they couldn't move the ball at all against Rutgers. I expect a smaller margin than Ole Miss, but not as close a game as UNM. We score 27-31, they get 6 or 7.
  21. Once we get further into the season and especially into conference contracts, the times aren't set to allow for changes to facilitate TV. For example, Mizzou plays at 1 CST this weekend, and then the only other game they don't have a TBA for is the Thanksgiving weekend game against Kansas(which has already been set for TV since there aren't any alternative games).
  22. Yea, but that will never happen, which is unfortunate. I once did a speech on instituting a playoff system, and with 16 teams it can be done without any income loss to the schools or bowls. Unfortunately the NCAA seems to think that the current system is adequate. Can you detail more how it wouldn't cost anyone any money? I haven't researched the topic, but I'd have to imagine that a playoff system where your team isn't guaranteed to make it to the next game(plus the cost of traveling and paying for tickets to two different bowl sites) would cause lower attendance at later bowl games. It doesn't seem to hurt basketball does it? I think the site would sell X amount of tickets to the general public and Y to the 2 teams involved. Basketball is a different animal though.
