  1. Boras tried to play hardball and threaten to have Brownlie go back to school/play in an indy league(can't remember which). Hendry didn't budge and he signed in February I believe.
  2. Iwamura would be fantastic at second base. No reason not to pursue him, even more so with the increased scouting late this summer.
  3. That's correct, and it's Matsuzaka that chose Boras. I think Boras's modus operandi is well known, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that he will play hardball in negotiating the contract. Hendry and Boras have a history though, including Hendry calling Boras on his bluffs(Brownlie). If the Cubs offer him something worthwhile(better than Ichiro got, but not this 8 figure per year craziness), I have a hard time seeing Daisuke ultimately turning that down.
  4. Grossman is awful? Right. I meant as of late. You mean 2 out of 8 games? Also known as 2 of the last 3 games.
  5. I dunno but I'm pretty sure a strong 5 from our rec center could take them.
  6. Mizzou won both it's exhibition games in convincing fashion, beating UM-Rolla 105-67 on Friday, and the Lithuania Academy 94-40 this evening. Hannah and Brown are going to be the big scorers for the team, and hopefully both Lawrences once one gets healthy and the other is able to play passable defense.
  7. That's why everyone was saying you have to look at the situation. Obviously if the player that's in is a much better hitter and is due up in the bottom half(if necessary), it's a much different decision. But if he's due up 7th and is pretty bad defensively, then it makes sense to replace him. And you know that those error odds are a bit deceiving. Being a better defensive player(better range, arm) is more than just duffing fewer routine plays.
  8. You guys picked the wrong Cincy wideout. Houshmandzadeh has been a top 15 Fantasy WR.
  9. The Top 7(same in both polls with slightly different order) are from 7 different conferences. Impressive.
  10. Why is that unfair? Bid what you can afford and think he's worth. Don't bid if you don't like the system. The system's designed to maximize the payout to the Japanese team, and I don't blame them for setting it up in their favor. I don't have a problem with the system as it is, but if the idea is to maximize the payout to the Japanese team, wouldn't an open auction be a better way to do that?
  11. They only gave up 25. I'm guessing the JT INT return doesn't count... Oh that's shady, and so is the blocked kick that people couldn't tell if anyone tipped after looking at a replay. Highly dubious I say.
  12. How does Chicago have 6? I missed the blocked kick, but hey got 2 picks (+4), no sacks, no fumbles, a blocked kick (+2), and they gave up 31 points (-1). It's a moot point now that Harrison got another catch, but still....
  13. I just took a pretty close look and I only have you with 82. Stat Tracker has him with 85. Does it have the individual scores? Because I'm not sure what I messed up.
  14. I just took a pretty close look and I only have you with 82. 7 Vick 27 LDT 9 Dunn 18 Harrison 0 Toomer 0 Reg. Williams 9 Shockey 9 Vinatieri 3 Chicago Where's the discrepancy with mine Vance?
  15. Those are both good wins. Those are both two-loss teams, and TCU was undefeated and nationally ranked at the time, plus the game was at TCU. Those are weak 2 loss teams, and one of their losses itself was a bad loss to a bad Pac-10 team. If BYU runs the table then they deserve more credit, but right now they still have yet to play the 3 best teams in their conference(besides themselves of course), so their schedule is lacking. First game of the year. Haven't a lot of people said we shouldn't punish Arkansas for getting absolutely crushed at home by USC in September, because they're a lot better now than they were back then? Not me, the first game counts just as much as the last one.
  16. They're number 25. But I have a hard time believing they're better than a lot of the 3 loss teams from power conferences. I saw them play against B.C., and the teams were very even. B.C. was very, very lucky to get away from that game with the win in double OT. They also lost to 4-5 Arizona, and their best win thus far is either TCU or Tulsa. Those are both good wins. 17. 84-46 by my count

  20. Agreed Yep, and then WVU will beat Rutgers in Morgantown.
  21. But they also have lost to Navy, San Diego State, and BYU. Air Force can't throw the ball(they have two backs with more rushing yards than their QB has passing yards) if they fall behind either. Is BYU really a good example of a loss to illustrate that an unranked team isn't that tough? And "Air force can't throw the ball" just makes me laugh uncontrollably. That wasn't exactly my intention. I almost left them off, but the point is that they've lost several games aside from that, including some not so great teams.
  22. I've got 77-29 at the moment. Either way it's going to take quite a few TD's from LDT and Harrison to get you into it.

  24. That's an intriguing possibility I'd never thought about. Pay the posting fee to have him as a trading chip. I wonder if there's something in the CBA against that, but it's not a sign and trade because the person doesn't have a contract and isn't a free agent.
