  1. Arkansas has a better case than KSU, sorry.
  2. I liken them to Ohio State. They're not superpowers, but you're going to need a base level of ability to begin with to handle all the matchups/athletic ability. I don't think an Albany is knocking them off, it's going to take a Memphis or a Georgetown.
  3. Between Floyd, Ward, and Pagan, Coats would be the 4th best LH pinch hitting option. Our RH pinch hitting options are Theriot, Blanco, and Pagan, in that order. Someone who can hit LHP off the bench with some pop is definitely what would be desired out of that last bench spot.
  4. Buehrle is historically lights out during ST. http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/2186/untitledoo4.jpg
  5. Isn't the committee forced to ignore the Big 10 championship when it comes to seeding?
  6. Is there any way to tell which semi the US would potentially play in? EDIT: Answered my own question. Unless the US finds itself in 3rd place they'll play in the 6:00 semi on the 21st if they make it that far.
  7. which means-if the Cubs go with 12 pitchers, who exactly do you hope for (besides Wuertz of course-I know that you'd give one of the spots to him). With 12 pitchers Zambrano Hill Lilly Prior/Guzman Marquis Dempster Howry Wood Wuertz Ohman Eyre Cotts/Guzman/Miller
  8. I really hope Cotts isn't a lock. And I hope even more that Cherry doesn't make the team.
  9. That is awful, the refs should have to explain that to the miami locker room. I think you misunderstood. Miami did win the game, but they did have a chance to lose the game because the refs arbitrarily put .6 seconds on the clock rather than actually make the proper decision. I really think they went in there, saw he took it with 1.2 seconds on the clock, thought it through, and said well we can't take away Miami's basket, but I feel bad for Akron, so let's just half that 1.2 seconds and give Akron a chance. Seems fair. Why not just institute a do-over?? The worst thing is that they did it completely backwards. The clock didn't start until after some time should have elapsed. So, if anything, they need to check to make sure that the shot still would've counted if the clock was started at the right time(it would have since he took it with 1.2 left). So, they solve the problem by ADDING MORE TIME? That's what was wrong in the first place!
  10. Amazing finish in the MAC Championship. Akron misses the front end of a one and one while up two, Miami banks a buzzer beating 3 from the wing.
  11. Is there an RSS Feed for all of the blogs together?
  12. Michael Reghi is doing the MAC Championship game! I missed listening to him.
  13. I think Durant's doing this just to toy with the opposing fans of Baylor and now Oklahoma State.
  14. Adam Everett is widely regarded as an amazing defensive SS. He got 688 chances last year in just under 1300 innings, about 4.7 chances per 9 innings. Or in other words, a little more than the number of plate appearances he'll receive. Now, consider that a very substantial number of those defensive chances are plays that anyone who's played high school baseball can and will make(pop-ups, sunday hops, easy force out throws, etc.), never mind a major league caliber defender. The sheer amount of chances that a defender gets to add value aren't near the amount of chances he gets at the plate. And even then, that ignores that defense is a 9 man affair, where you can bobble a ball and still flip to the guy at second for a forceout, or lose a ball in the lights/sun but the center fielder/second baseman comes in and grabs it. Offense has more of an impact than defense. yeah, but isn't the difference between two lousy hitters (Cedeno and Izturis) only about 1 time on base per week, at best? I was talking mostly theoretically, in my original post I said it remains to be seen which would be the better option between Izturis and Theriot.
  15. Virginia Tech is making Memphis look like Rick Barry at the line.

  17. What's wrong with Izturis? He was promoted through the minors b/c of his defense and his bat is still catching up. His hitting has improved, especially his plate discipline. Izturis has speed and plays ridiculously well at SS. He's not Tejada at the plate, no question, but he can be very useful. What's our other option? Ronny Cedeno? lol Theriot would be an option. Theriot should be a better offensive player, if only slightly, but he can't touch Izturis in the field. If there is one position on the field where defense matters, it's SS. Theriot might be able to handle everyday SS defensively at the ML level. Izturis is a wizard defensively at the ML level. Theriot had a great ML debut, but it was a fluke. Don't expect that kind of offensive performance, or anywhere near it, over a full season. Theriot will be a good supersub in the Ryan Freel mold (although not as good), but he's not a ML starter. Regardless of what defensive position it is, it's not of equal weight as their offensive contributions. Whether that means Theriot is a better SS option than Izturis remains to be seen, but offense and defense are not of equal importance, not even at SS.
  18. Wow. Douglas-Roberts is the only regular who shoots at least 70%, and they have 3 regulars shooting under 50%.
  19. Price's BF was 30 in that game, it'd be very hard to get 27 outs by only facing 17 hitters.
  20. Memphis I think is simultaneously overrated and underrated. Overrated because of their joke schedule/conference which means their record belies their true level, yet underrated because no one really sees them and they're deep and crazy athletic. On a related note, does it seem to anyone else that there are a lot of teams that are young this year? I swear everytime I look at a good team they're graduating zero or one player of importance. Georgetown, Memphis, Kansas, UCLA, Texas, Michigan State, Ohio State, Washington State, Southern Illinois, just off the top of my head.
  21. How? Don't be deceived by his 0.00 ERA. He has yet to pitch in a game. That is reason enough to not be lock to make the opening day roster. If he's not healthy, then he should be on the DL, and put on the roster when he's healthy. If he's healthy, he should be on the roster, no questions asked. There's no reason for the hodgepodge of Cotts/Cherry/Miller/Novoa to get a bullpen spot while Wuertz goes to AAA.
  22. Remember to sign up here to get access to the first 3 rounds of the Dance streamed live. I used it last year and it was pretty nice. They're upping the alotted bandwidth for this year too.
  23. Thanks for making us look better, Baylor.
  24. OSU just took the lead on aTm, Georgetown pushing it out a little on Notre Dame. 8:00 please come so I can get off work and watch these finishes plz
  25. Rhode Island just knocked off Xavier.
