  1. Now that the excitement of Gallagher being promoted is over.... This is a terrible decision. Why are we starting Gallagher's option/arbitration clock to put him in middle relief? Especially when we have someone like Cherry(like was already mentioned) available in Iowa?
  2. How exactly is Kroeger playing out of position because of suspect defense?
  3. If either of those guys falls all the way to the sandwich pick, and we don't take them, then I'm going to reach a Pierreian level of pissed off at the Cubs.
  4. Why would that make you opposed to trading picks? I would think that would be an argument for trading them, since bad teams could get better assets for a pick that has a strong likelihood of being worth significantly less than what they would receive.
  5. Ward needs a spot to come back to.
  6. I wouldn't mind the move for those 2 reasons, but it does create a situation on the major league club where there is again no center fielder that can play against LHP. I don't think that's a big issue. Our 3 best hitters are RH, plus Barrett and DeRosa have significant R/L splits. Having Pie learn to hit LHP isn't that big a deal, he's going to have to do it sometime.
  7. Where's JC when you need him with that picture of Raw's girlfriend.
  8. His defense at 2b is pretty bad. Yeah, but isn't that what the minors are for? His defense isn't going to get any better at 2B if he's playing in LF everyday. Especially since it's not a physical thing, like he lacks the speed or arm strength to play a position.
  9. Is Carpenter draft eligible? For some reason I thought he wasn't. He didn't look overly impressive in the tournament game I saw him in. Lots of control issues and nothing really noteworthy offspeed. I'm far from an expert opinion though, especially going off an internet webcast of one start.
  10. Wow, 6 of the top 62 picks, and only one of them made it to AAA, where he was a colossal failure.
  11. Ryan Howard got a cup of coffee in 2004 at age 24. He split his age 25 season at AAA and the majors, and stuck in the majors at 26. He was also highly productive as he moved up the minor league ladder. He didn't repeat levels and advanced at a solid pace. This Kroeger character repeated high A, and washed out at AAA after playing there in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and getting worse each year. His age matters because it's only now, as he approaches 25, that he's putting up these numbers after a demotion back to AA. It would be insane to suggest he has to be an upgrade to Murton. Torii Hunter was in the majors by 22. He didn't stick until 25, but he got numerous shots before then. You comparisons are pointless. as are most if not all of your "observations". Well, at least you explained why.
  12. Hitting at AA was never a problem for Kroeger, he mashed there when he was 22. It's AAA that gave him trouble. He hit really well for 200 AB's before a brief callup, then fell on his face in 2 consecutive full seasons at AAA, in two different systems and both the PCL and International League. I agree with Biittner, promote him to AAA now that Pie is in the bigs to stay, and see if he can hit there in an extended stay.
  13. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Wuertz actually pitching in the 8th inning. wtg Trammell
  14. A little while ago I suggested Gathright as a cheap, placeholder CF in a scenario where Pie was gone. With him around there's no reason to pursue Gathright.
  15. I don't think anyone is saying he's been bad, but he was directly responsible for the Brewers taking the lead. Him and the second base umpire.
  16. I must have missed the part where one game is the same as the season. i haven't heard anyone agree with you that our defense is no problem. not our biggest problem, but overall, another problem. Rob is right.
  17. Hall scores after giving Pie a high five on DeRosa's blunder.
  18. How is Hall not out for being about 10 feet beyond the baseline?
  19. Izturis was nowhere near the play. Again, his fault. Pop-ups in the middle of the infield are the SS's responsibility, he needs to be right there if he's not calling off everyone to make the play.
  20. Jones you are a joke, have you ever tracked a fly ball before?
  21. The ball didn't hit the ground, and he screwed up the throw that would've beaten him easily.
