  1. Considering Young's actions afterward and all the attempted lip reading that's been done, I don't see any way you can claim it wasn't intentional.
  2. Let's revisit the Gallagher callup. He was available for the whole Atlanta series, so he's been here for 11 games. He's made 3 outings. He mopped up Marquis in a blowout last Saturday, faced one batter(5 pitches) in a 13 inning game against Seattle, and mopped up for Hill in a blowout today. 3.2 IP and 96 pitches in 10 days, 6 ER, 5 H, 4/4 K/BB, 2 HR. So he's getting used as a mop-up guy, the last person in the pen, and he's getting rocked. Couldn't we have used Cherry for this? Are these situations he's being used really so important that it's worth pulling him away from regular starting work at an appropriate level? Even then Cherry couldn't possibly have been worse in those outings. Please send him back down. Bring up Cherry, Cotts, Pignatiello, or someone else without a ceiling to deal with this type of role.
  3. +1 I don't understand this line of thinking. As fans we are allowed to have divided attention, I don't see the problem in "worrying" about how the Brewers will fare for the rest of the season even if we are struggling.
  4. I wish I had two votes so I could vote for "R you in?" and "We are CHICAGO Baseball".
  5. Pie's blue eye black is the greatest thing I've ever seen.
  6. You didn't think it was intentional?! Where's Jim Wolf's mindreader bullcrap when you need it?
  7. wooo Five for Fighting I have to say it's nice to see two players that are actually good having the goofy elaborate handshake thing. It seemed like a crappy player tradition before, passed on from Harris to Neifi to Macias.
  8. Until Floyd begins hitting better than Murton did for an entire season last year, I'm going to remain annoyed that this dumb platoon was instituted in the first place. Floyd's .100 IsoP is also irritating.
  9. I'm a big, big fan of davhern.
  10. It would seem to me that the best way to not worry about some type of lack of respect would be to stop giving up moonshots to Soriano. He hit the crap out of that ball, Wells and Peavy should be worrying about that instead of making up reasons to blame Soriano for Wells getting rocked. I mean, if it's Adrian Gonzalez that does that on Friday, as a fan I don't like it, maybe I think a little less of them as a player. But at the end of the day, the very simple way to avoid it is to get him out, or at the least give up home runs that travel less than 900 feet.
  11. Actually, this may be helping a lot of people decide who to vote for.
  12. Deal with it. I think that disrespectufl bashing of players sucks and is pathetic. I have every right to voice that opinion. If you think it's cool, so be it. If message boards could be rid of annoyances, there would be none that exist. I annoy you, the bashing annoys me. I'm done talking about this. If Mojo and CubbieChris think Barrett is awful and has always been mediocre to bad, then so be it. I can certainly have my own opinion of those views. Seriously man, how long is it going to take you to figure out people say irrational things in game threads? It's been several seasons now, this schtick of popping up in game threads to yell at people for not being objective is old.
  13. It just makes good baseball sense to take a pitch after a guy has issued a walk of course, Barrett has never been accused of having Baseball "Smarts". No, good baseball sense would be to sit dead red on a fastball over the plate since Wells really doesn't want to fall behind a hitter with the bases loaded. The problem is not with him swinging, it's just that he failed to recognize that it wasn't "his" pitch. David Wells isn't going to groove one out of fear of falling behind. He's definitely going to try to throw a strike, and he's more likely to leave something Barrett can drive than if . Regardless of the pitcher, the point remains that swinging at the first pitch with the bases loaded is not automatically a boneheaded decision.
  14. Real baseball fans know that every Cubs pitcher who had a good season in thoes three years did so because of Maddux's influence. Wait, I can't tell, are you being sarcastic?

  16. Was it a good pitch to hit? First one's the best one when the bases are loaded.
  17. Thomas is the draftee I'm most excited to see in action. I'm holding out hope that the adjustments he's made at the plate allow him to be a really good professional hitter.
  18. In other recent Froemming-Cubs news, he's the one that called Soriano's HR that bounced out of the basket not a home run, until he realized that not even Bruce Froemming could get away with screwing the Cubs so badly.
  19. Some very large discrepancies with the UZR stuff that was released not too long ago. EDIT: I wouldn't worry about 1B too much, those ratings are going to be pretty worthless.
  20. bhogg is solid as the game thread pimp, but EJ may be one of the most underappreciated posters, he gets my vote.
  21. I had no idea who to vote for. So I looked at the results and saw Anze was down 20+ and threw a vote his way.
