  1. Beasley is a better rebounder than Durant, in college he did it at a better rate, and he should continue to do so since he plays closer to the basket offensively and is much more active on the offensive glass.
  2. A strong season for Ludwick would be an .850 OPS, not 300 points higher than that like he's currently doing.
  3. Supposedly power potential type guy with questionable contact skills and hasn't hit at any level at all. He looks like a poor man's Ryan Harvey I don't see how you can say he has questionable contact skills when he has 65 professional at bats, the vast majority of those coming after he had a multiple month layoff where he did very little baseball related activity(since he didn't want to hurt himself before he signed). The same goes for "hasn't hit at any level at all", he's barely had any chance to show what he can do. Plus, it's not like he's a senior draftee that has time working against him, he doesn't even turn 19 until the end of the minor league season.
  4. I've gotta think a strong outing for Marshall gets him the start against the Dodgers on Tuesday
  5. The first action Pie got after Keller came to Chicago to work with him was April 21, and he hit a PH HR against the Mets. He then went 2 for 5 the following day in a start, 0 for 1 in a PH opportunity the next game, and then 2 for 3 in a start the following day. In other words, a 5 for 10 stretch with a HR. He was rewarded with barely starting half the games until he was sent down, facing Sheets, Suppan, Wainwright, Cueto, Harang, Volquez, and E. Gonzalez, while Johnson inexplicably started against the likes of Lohse, Wellemeyer, and Scherzer. And even then, the idea of Pie getting 40 PA's in 20 games as some sort of legitimate playing time is lunacy. Edmonds has 16 PA's in 7 games already and we faced 3 straight LH starters that kept him completely out of the series this weekend, so it's essentially 16 PA's in 4 games, or in other words, an actual platoon, and not arbitrarily holding him out of games against RHP to give someone who is inferior in every way except age playing time instead.
  6. That loose ball foul was on the Spurs? lol
  7. Pujols is a wrecking crew, he just hurt Bard on a play at the plate, he may have snapped his ankle
  8. Young was bleeding out his head, in the middle of the forehead right above the eyebrows. From a flesh wound, or from his eyes? Geez, an injury like that will ruin your career. From the wound, it hit him where the bone is closest to the skin on the forehead, above the bridge of the nose. He was bleeding pretty good for a bit, but he should be fine.

  10. That's right. Keep joking about it. When the Cards & Stros pass us up and we're dipping closer to .500 we'll revisit and see how you feel then. Sometimes you lose a series on the road. It's going to happen, and it's not a harbinger of doom like you're making out to be.
  11. I can't believe I'm the ONLY vote for Beasley.
  12. I really think it's time you considered freaking out. We're down 2 runs in Houston with 4 trips to the plate left Also, I don't get that upset about regular season games going awry, it's a good way to drive yourself crazy
  13. I remain naggingly convinced that his arm is overrated. It's probably just a selective memory thing with me, but who knows. I thought it was a good throw, on target on one hop, but either he got rid of it slow, or Berkman is faster than I thought
  14. Can you blame them? This game is looking identical to last night. Chacon should not have gotten settled in like this. He's a bad pitcher. It's the top of the 5th. After the first, this team has put together a collection of horrid atbats, I think that's why people are frustrated. No patience after the first. Yesterday after the grand slam it was "calm down everyone we can get it back." Guess what. We didn't. Agreed, we will lose every game that we ever trail in for the remainder of the season

  16. what toolbox is whistling during every pitch? This isn't the carnival, although I can see why you'd make that mistake with the location
  17. Michael Bourn had a .539 OPS going into today. .539
  18. He didn't walk anyone this inning, and he was ahead of both Tejada and Lee when they drove in all the runs his location was still bad. it's nice to get ahead of hitters, but you don't throw pitches in the middle of the plate when you've got the hitter in a hole. I'm not trying to say he was pitching well, but "walking/falling behind" was not his problem last inning.

  20. you can't spin a slider to Carlos Lee 0-2 too, argh
  21. call the interference, Berkman's bat hit him
  22. these houston announcers are morons, that pitch wasn't belt high, it was at the letters
