  1. I ordered mine over the phone, I have to get them at the arena the first week of August.
  2. This is an example of someone who gets stuck on fancy statistics rather than ones that truely matter. He gets on base and bats towards the top of the order most games. He has the 9th best OBP in the majors. Do you know what IsoP is?
  3. How bad is it that I completely forgot Lieber wasn't in the Chicago pen?
  4. I wouldn't rule out adding a bat. It would have to be a significant upgrade though, which limits the options and eliminates names like Rich Aurilia. Where though? He's not going to supplant Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, or Kosuke with their production and contracts. Theriot, DeRosa, and Soto are about as good as it gets for their position, and two of those are young guys with the other being under contract for another year(not to mention Fonteneaux's capabilities behind DeRo). That leaves the Edmonds/Johnson platoon, which like I mentioned is torching the ball better than anyone on the team(save for the aforementioned Fonteneaux). I just don't see where it could happen.
  5. To put it simply, we can't really add a bat right now. Any bench bat would need to be right handed to make any sense(with Fontenot and Ward around), and they'd need to be able to play SS to replace Cedeno, since you can't replace Blanco or Johnson and they aren't going to go to 11 pitchers. You can't add a bat in the starting lineup because they only position that's not set for the forseeable future is CF, and the Edmonds/Johnson platoon is killing the ball there. Aurilia isn't viable at SS any more, and honestly, pretty much any proposed bench addition won't be a good fit. Because if you can play SS adequately(and this is a necessity with Theriot being shaky at SS) and hit for some pop, then you're a starter. If you can't, then the Cubs don't need you.
  6. You need to do better at something so I'm not letting you practice it anymore.
  7. The implication is that we can't hit anyone anymore since we were middle of the road in June and bad in July.
  8. Bob Howry is a good reliever. He's been an okay one this year, and a good one since the end of April.
  9. Johnson apparently trying to get 27 outs that are absolutely smoked.
  10. FirstInning.com has it for Major and Minor leaguers.
  11. How can your first post say "I told you so"?
  12. Duquette made that deal, it was a year after Phillips was fired.
  13. The big difference between soccer and baseball is the club leagues. MLB is the best players in the world, very few top players play elsewhere. In soccer there are easily a half dozen leagues with world class players, and the World Cup offers the chance to see all of them in action in addition to nationalistic pride. I'd also suggest that Olympic Basketball and Hockey aren't that big of a deal(mostly for the same reason as MLB). They may be a little more popular in the Olympic games, but that's more of a function of the nature of the game IMO.
  14. A little part of me died inside when he started talking about "talent players" v. "effort players"
  15. Are they serious? Will it really take that long for Vitters to develop? It's not out of the question at all. 2009: A-/A+ 2010: A+/AA 2011: AA/AAA 2012: AAA/MLB
  16. Cameron couldn't have played that any worse unless he was actually tracking a low flying bird instead of the ball.
  17. Hughes is on the 60 day DL with a rib fracture. Hence, "for a player who is currently injured"...contrary to popular belief, you CAN trade a player who is on the DL. Are you sure you can do so for the 60-day DL? I'm not, but I'd imagine that with it's 40 man protections there may be a difference.
  18. Trading Lilly and Wuertz is selling high? Those are some fascinating ideas though. I wonder how little Colletti thinks of Hu right now. At his worst he's a more consistent defender than Cedeno with a similar bat. What about a 3 way deal with the Pirates? I can't find a combo I like yet, but something centered around Wilson to LA, Hu and Bay/McLouth to Chicago, and Dodger/Cub pitching(with Cedeno too) to Pittsburgh.
  19. Welcome, and thanks for a thoughtful contribution with your first post.
