  1. I don't want to start a new thread, but since my interest in fantasy football prior to this draft was at an all-time low, I'd appreciate some feedback. Some weird rules, 6 points per passing TD, and they accidentally added another starting spot at QB and TE. 12 teams. QB - Brady QB - Cutler RB - Chris Johnson RB - Lynch WR - Colston WR - A. Gonzalez WR - Coles/Ginn Flex - Larry Johnson TE - Cooley TE - Keller K - Folk DEF - New Orleans Bench QB - M. Sanchez RB - Rice RB - Mendenhall WR - Ginn/Coles WR - Henry TE - Scaife The WR are a little thin at the top, but I sacrificed that to get depth at RB and two strong QBs.
  2. Down 4 runs in the 6th = "right back in it" Down 5 runs in the 5th = probably hopeless?
  3. This serves as a reminder that picking a good GM is a pretty big crapshoot. Moore was very well regarded by smart and successful people alike, but he's been really bad in Kansas City.
  4. That is some really terrible logic. The DeRosa trade went from an okay one to a pretty good one given the performance of all 3 guys this season.
  5. Both those guys have strong numbers, but I don't think I'd rather have them than the chance of keeping Harden or getting 2 picks for him.
  6. I do not care, because I do not like AVG w/RISP. I do not like them in a house. I do not like them with a mouse. I do not like them here or there. I do not like them anywhere. He has played in 2 weeks worth of games. Like I said, if you think he's hurting, fine, let him rest up. Otherwise, let him hit through the slump.
  7. Soto was horrible for the first 6 weeks of the year. Like, I can't believe this is physically possible to hit this bad horrible. This is mostly due to what I'm going to call the worst luck on balls in play in the history of the world. Since then he's hit .235/.333/.454/.787. If you want to bench him because the Cubs are done and you think his body will wear down in the next couple weeks, fine. But if you want to bench him because you want to "send a message", or actually prefer Hill get the at bats down the stretch, then this is a really, really dumb decision.
  8. Trade him to an AL team for a bullpen arm.
  9. Even if the Cardinals don't raise the payroll, they have the money to keep who they want. The problem comes if someone decides Holliday is worth 5/100 and the Cards are left with much less attractive choices with all their found money.
  10. Chris Rusin at Boise: 26 IP, 25/7 K/BB, 1 HR, 51% GB%(before tonight's 8-1 GO-AO), 8.1% LD%(before tonight), and yet a 4.15 ERA.
  11. My first thought with the restricted list was a family illness.
  12. oh hey, nobody ever said he wouldn't I probably did. Holliday's insane first month with the Cards aside, I still think he's about an .850 OPS guy.
  13. I don't understand why you'd try to forecast HR or RBI. As long as the actual production is there ratio-wise, those numbers aren't that important(unless it's an extreme case where he's got like 2 HR thru August, RBI still don't matter).
  14. I bet the Marlins. Heilman absolutely tortures them for some reason.
  15. I'm really amused that Gameday has twice told me that Morgan left the game with an injured wrist, during a half inning that has gone HBP, bunt foul out, HBP.
  16. Holliday is 30 next year, a Boras client, and currently playing way, way above his true talent level in his contract year. Bringing him back(again, Boras client who's been with the team for a month) will be much like similar Cubs moves of recent past. He'll keep them from dropping off in the short term, but hamstring them long-term.
  17. Gaub is absolutely incinerating hitters this year. His BAA against righties in Iowa is .086.
  18. You can't just gloss over that Castro is hitting like 70 points higher with a much better K rate in the low minors. It's what sunk Cedeno, and Castro is already much, much better at it, all the while 2 years younger than Cedeno was at those levels.
  19. You leave Phil Rogers out of this.
  20. Yeah, my understanding has always been that Kenney was on the business/marketing/PR side of the coin. I don't think him staying would preclude Ricketts bringing in someone like Alderson either, as was mentioned in the other thread.
  21. Haha, no chance they'd lose a game they'd find a way to go 11-0 I understand this is enjoyable or a release for some, and I don't want to presume to tell people how to post. Just understand that the tongue-in-cheek exaggerations about the Cardinals doing well or the Cubs doing poorly are extremely irritating to many people, especially with how often they are seen in various forums.
  22. I personally think this is a great idea! Way to go NC. I'm not sure why more teams don't do that. Can someone find out what percentage the Cubs would have to pay if they released him by the first deadline? I looked but couldn't find it. I assume Gregg would get around $4,000,000 in arbitration. A first round pick and a compensation pick seem to be worth a million dollar risk to me. (Of course, it's not my money!) It also could end up a 2nd or 3rd rounder depending on how many FA's that team signs. Gregg's getting 4.2M this year, he'll make at least 5 in arbitration.
  23. I'm struggling to come up with anything the White Sox front office does better than the Cubs.
  24. With a much better minor league pedigree and a proven ability to hit for average, mitigating his chances for a Cedeno-esque flop.
