    Szczur has the equivalent of 30 games in the OF at the MLB level, so we won't be able to draw any statistical conclusions about his defense. That said, he's gonna get sent down/waived too in all likelihood.

    I hope Clark gets directly in the line of sight of any man baby that whines about his presence at Wrigley Field, and forces them to address their boorish nihilism. I want any Clark-on-field apologists to get a T-shirt cannon to the face at close range.

    Clark is for visiting people in the hospital and for giving bored kids a place to enjoy themselves on the concourse, he should not be in anyone's field of vision when at their seat. If you disagree you are wrong and a bad person.

    Martins getting that Chinese offer and getting it in February really, really hurt. Until then they had 4 forwards to rotate through the ups and downs of age(Dempsey/Valdez) and inexperience(Morris), and now the only speed is wasted with Morris trying to learn to play RW and the depth is not good enough(though in time it could be). They're supposed to be adding a DP and another signing of significance, which combined with Torres's return which should make them a lot more dangerous by summer, but that still might not be enough if they keep bleeding points and if Dempsey/Valdez/Morris can't be more dangerous in the attacking third.

    Rondon had a spring training ERA of nearly 8 in 2014 and then put up a 2.42 ERA that season, including a 0.68 ERA in 13.1 April innings.

    AND HOW This is the most salient point. 97 win teams are very unlikely to repeat that result regardless of whether they won 70 or 95 games the year before that. The Cubs insulated themselves very well against that regression, which is done by adding up expectations and not adding/subtracting luck from last year's total and then going into the acquisitions/losses. A better example of the plexiglass effect is probably the Astros, but they done and plexiglassed themselves starting last September so it's probably not as pronounced.

    Are you counting Schwarbs as a catcher? I am not. Part of the fun is guessing things you don't think are super probable but you think are more likely than the consensus.

    - Bryant outWARs Trout - Lackey fails miserably at the start, only an injury elsewhere keeps him in the rotation but he's replaced by Warren by the the stretch run - Fowler has the highest wOBA of any Cub outfielder - Come July, Montero has a strong case to make the ASG - Rondon/Cahill/Strop is as good a back-end of any pen in the league - Hendricks has the 2nd highest fWAR among Cub pitchers - Zobrist v. Baez at 2B becomes a major talking point

    That is correct, but that's because it should be that way. It's more insulting to Serena's career than an illustration of hypocrisy to imply that those two be covered in a similar light.

    These 6 are locks: Rondon Strop Grimm Cahill Wood Warren Richard is probably close to a lock as a 2nd LH, although one of the other LH could technically take the job. That leaves Ramirez, Edwards, Acevedo, Riefenhouser, Patton, Jokisch, or an NRI like Olmos for the 8th spot, which could conceivably go to a 5th bench player(Victorino, Szczur, Kawasaki, etc) too.

    I think we can all agree that Football and the NFL is the worst and should be eradicated from the public consciousness as soon as possible while Baseball is the one true and perfect sport and should remain forever and ever amen.

    Gonna be pretty stoked to see them make the playoffs again by going .750 against the Phillies/Braves/Marlins and below .500 against everyone else. Thankfully their only legitimately great players are SP so maybe they'll get some comeuppance with injuries.

    How many interleague games do you think there are? The Cubs only play 8 games in AL parks, 3 of them to start the year when we're pretty certain Hendricks won't be starting.
