  1. Welp, this appears to be getting very real very fast.
  2. hello here is Shohei Otani murdering a baseball [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. It looks like pre-draft he had at least touched 97-98: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=61785&p=3044865#p3044865 http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=62952&p=3079674#p3079674 But the consistency that he's hit 98-100 as a pro is a combination of surprise and him getting proper instruction to get more out of his body.
  4. Looks like Mizzou is hiring Cuonzo Martin. Not the most awe inspiring hire, but should ensure some watchable basketball, and I've forgotten what that looks like. Now to see if Romar gets fired and the Porters potentially come back into play.
  5. Yeah, Mexico got a bit of a raw deal, but on the other hand, maybe don't give up 10 runs per game and things might work out better.
  6. In fairness, it's pretty impressive to throw out Nelson Cruz on what I think was a 98 mph fastball.
  7. My answer to that question is Bryant and maybe Rizzo. Russell, Contreras, and possibly Baez have the ceiling to reach that status, but I can't at all say they should never be traded. No pitcher is ever ever untouchable.
  8. Ross's Game 7 home run and Russell's Game 6 grand slam are the only others that come close for me, aside from the big 2 you mentioned.
  9. To be honest it's probably more of a 'I'm going to buy this the first day I can' v. 'I'll buy it when I'm low on books to read'. Going to the top of the list for sure.
  10. Welp, reading that article sealed that I'm buying Verducci's book, it comes out 2 weeks from today.
  11. I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but there are absolutely not 26 better moments than Montero's grand slam. Easy Top 5.
  12. I'm not sure but one of the mods is a lawyer, I'll check with him.
  13. Fangraphs released their Top 100: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2017-top-100-prospects/ Eloy at 15 Happ at 51 (symmetry!) De La Cruz and Candelario show up in the honorable mention
  14. So, the first tiebreaker for the WBC is RA/9 in the games between tied teams. That means that if the DR loses this game to Colombia(they're up 3-2 Top 7), then in all likelihood they're out as long as the US beats Canada. EDIT: This apparently isn't right, the tiebreaker only determines the winner of the pool(Colombia in this case), and then the other 2 teams play a tiebreaker game. Colombia tied the game in the 7th, it's tied headed to the 9th.
  15. Imagine the person who fires up the twitter machine to announce (unprovoked) his disapproval of a home run celebration at 1 AM on Sunday morning.
  16. I've only seen the replay of his HR and heard a few tweets about him having put on some muscle and hitting BP bombs, but comparing his spring to last year might be illustrative: 2016: 47 PA, .244/.255/.311, 7/1 K/BB, 3 XBH (all 2B) 2017: 24 PA, .304/.333/.609, 6/1 K/BB, 4 XBH (2 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR) It'll be interesting to see if he's trading some contact for pop. I'd be on board with that, since he has so much room to safely trade K's for IsoP with his past K rate, and because that would help make it easier for him to add some BBs too.
  17. To be fair, Butler threw the 8th and 9th against minor league fodder. Still nice to see though, and since he's ticketed for Iowa regardless, we don't have to focus as much on results, which is nice because the process(heavy 95 mph, ground balls galore) looks good too. And yes, Eloy is going to be an impact player, and that is awesome.
  18. Cease in MLB in 2019 is like the < 1% best case scenario, the odds have him getting through 4 levels in less than 3 years are extremely low.
  19. I would really love a composite vid of all the dodgers defensive miscues in the NLCS. For all the hemming and hawing about their payroll and its advantages, they've really built themselves a hilariously flawed team. The Cubs probably gained 5 runs in the NLCS and World Series alone from crappy OF defense. Kendrick misplayed that ball, Toles dropped a ball and had a horrible throw or two. Davis got caught flat footed and let Bryant tag up from about 120 feet away, Chisenhall and Naquin let that ball drop between them, I'm probably forgetting others.
  20. I've mostly been to very forgettable games. The top highlights are seeing Sammy hit 2 or 3 HR one day(really narrows it down, I know), and being at Busch when Neifi hit the extra innings grand slam to beat the Cardinals.
  21. Thanks for the reminder of Howie Kendrick starting in left field in an LCS in the year of our lord 2016. Amazing.
  22. Cashner is destined to be a Dodger, his entire career is basically a siren song to Friedman.
  23. Oh it was intentional? Yeah I did not get that. So you intended for people to have to copy and paste and then remove the space? That seems...inefficient. yes so that they'd see the entire thread, rather than posting/embedding like 12 tweets Using URL tags will do what you want.
