Since coming off the DL in August, Werth has a .225 wOBA, .279 against LHP. The last 3 years he's combined for about a -10 UZR as an outfielder, this year being the worst yet. Dusty has Adam Lind(similar glove but .370 wOBA against RHP), Brian Goodwin(.320 wOBA against RHP and better defense) and Howie Kendrick(.346 wOBA v. LHP and better defense) on his bench. Werth played all 9 yesterday and is starting today.

The alternatives are Jay(okay but left handed), Heyward(great D horrific bat against LHP), or Schwarber(mediocre D bad bat against LHP). I'd have been okay with Jay, but I also appreciate that Zobrist's approach and eye at the plate keep him in the lineup and that has value. Probably doubly so against someone like Gio who has good stuff but can be erratic.

I went to that site last night for schadenfreude and couldn't even enjoy it. It was a combination of complete surrender(in the 7th inning they were discussing offseason plans), and terrible opinions that looked completely genuine(DFA Rendon, bench Harper, etc). -
