  1. Why doesn't he just start Gerut against RH? Better defense, better splits against RH, it doesn't make sense.
  2. I've never heard Gary Gillette's name before. Who is he?
  3. In 2005: Sox Cubs 0-2 Runs 26 25 3-5 Runs 39 44 6+ Runs 33 30
  4. jtownie, Roast, Vance, and CPattfan27, here's the final scenario: The Yankees find themselves in a 3 way battle for divisional supremacy. They have some holes, and other spots that may need improvement. Your job is to improve them to get to the postseason. Since this is the Yankees, we'll assume that they can take on payroll, but not excessively so(like taking on Beltran's contract for prospects). Use as many deals as you like, and for the finals, the odds of the trade happening will not be considered. The winner will be judged on how much the deal(s) improve the team and how fair the deal(s) are for both sides. In the interests of fairness, please don't post your idea in this thread. PM them to me, and I'll announce the winner when all the entries have been received and judged. The deadline for this scenario is the actual trading deadline, Sunday afternoon. Have fun, and good luck!
  5. I don't like Burnett. He's helped out by Pro Player, he's been injury prone, and he'll cost a lot in cash and players to acquire. If we were to get a starter, I don't see Hendry going big(nor should he IMO).
  6. My apologies, if you submitted an entry you advanced. I'll have the final scenario up today.
  7. For 9 million dollars, I expect a little more than a 4.50 ERA "almost always", since that's what a quality start is(albeit at its worst). However, Maddux isn't even close to "almost always" pitching a quality start. 2004: 19 QS in 33 starts, 57% 2005: 12 QS in 21 starts, 57%
  8. No, Derwood's correct. Someone show otis the picture.
  9. I'm talking about going forward. All of his stats are skewed by his ridiculous April. Since then he's reverted to his career norms, which are awful at hitting, hitting for power, getting on base, and everything else related to offense in baseball. Yeah, but his .200 batting average over the last month or so is not indicative of his talent either. His current stats overall are pretty much in sync with his career numbers (.269/.300/.380). Even those numbers are inflated, since he spent half his career in Colorado. The point is, he's really really bad, probably not good enough to be on a ML roster, and definitely not good enough to start with any regularity.

  11. He doesn't suck, he's a very serviceable SS just not what we were expecting as a starter. He's hitting in the .260s not .230 Corey was a worse. Atleast Neifi makes contact. He's one of the worst hitters in the game, his OBP is criminal. I loved that HR as much as anyone(I was there, it was awesome), but people are saying that he's on fire when he's 2 for 8 these last two games. He's an awful hitter, plain and simple. He's awful, but he is a back-up. His offense is actually slightly above replacement and he plays plus defense. Seriously, it would be hard to expect much else from a back-up. Come on, he's been sub-600 OPS for over 2 months. He's certainly not above replacement level.

  13. Dusty didn't do that on purpose. he's just been wearing out the rest of the pen recently. Yeah, Remmy and Mitre are the only ones that didn't go last night.
  14. Alou with the always impressive slide after the catch.
  15. Macias has broken bats in consecutive at bats. Kudos.
  16. The guys who hit the most line drives typically hit a good deal of home runs.
  17. Please tell me this is sarcasm. Um, no. This team has underachieved all season, and by clinging to the hope that the Cubs are only 4.5 games out of the WC, we're giving up the opportunity to trade retreads like Remlinger, Blanco, Garciaparra, Walker, and Burnitz to a real contender, and rebuild our farm system. Mark it down. This team is not going to the postseason. And wishing like hell for it to happen won't make it so. Burnitz is not a retread, Walker is one of the best 2B in the league this year, and our farm system is in the elite class in the game. However, what in the world does Ken Williams have to do with that?
  18. I think they're probably right with Yount or Molitor.
  19. I'll start worrying if he starts going off about hot dogs.
  20. Neither did I until yesterday. Family went to see the arch, me and my dad stayed and got tickets on the street.
