  1. Go back. It should let you make the changes except for players who were involved in the Thursday game. I hate you.
  2. It depends on who you get to replace Lee. In my hypothetical where we get Overbay as well, you don't lose much defense at 1B. CPatterson (or anyone else), do you know anything about Overbay's reach? I'm a pretty big fan of his, but I don't know much about his defense. Would you consider him to be a gold glove candidate? Admittedly, I haven't seen him play very much, but he scores very highly with statistics like Rate, RAA, and RAR throughout his career. His ZR isn't very high compared to other 1B, but that's probably less reliable than the previous 3 in determining performance.
  3. In the interest of full disclosure, here's Roast's Week 1 lineup with the above team:
  4. Haha, 3 more times on base for Murton and Cedeno each. It's like they're good at baseball or something.
  5. That's one in the win column for Cut for Cap Space. Shutout!
  6. I said Santo was a homer. My point was that he doesn't try to pretend he isn't. I think Santo is a terrible analyst. Buck is not one of the best. Only a STL fan could think so. He's an arrogant preppy popped collar kind of guy. Unbiased? He is so completely biased it's almost obscene. No doubt Buck panders to the STL crowd, but what drives me crazy no matter what sport he does is that he always is telling me what he thinks. You will always know what his opinion is on a topic. Sometimes even before the analyst, you know, the guy paid to give their opinion that is not Joe Buck, gets an opportunity to voice theirs. The Randy Moss incident last year is a perfect example.
  7. Sorry, definitely Kevin.
  8. Is Encarnacion that bad a target? I would like Giles in conjunction with signing him, but he wouldn't be a terrible pickup depending on the contract. dal, I would not* say you're paranoid. cpatt, yes he would be that bad. .269/.317/.444 career line. He's 29 and coming off a career year, he'll get a decent size deal. Hendry overpays for mediocrity repeatedly. This would not be good. He's a younger JB who will get more money. *edited to make it clear that I think that's a legit fear. Hmm, didn't realize how bad he had been prior to this year, although he has spent the last 5 years playing half his games in Pro Player or Dodger Stadium.

  10. Nope. That argument is ridiculous. That's what I said. The Maroth and Lopez arguments are just as ridiculous. Stark wasn't using that comparison as an argument for Clemens winning the Cy, it was putting his season in historical perspective.
  11. I'd take Jones and Green.
  12. All those players you mentioned sans Patterson(who may be on his way out of MLB, or at least as a starter) also have very good walk totals to go with their number of K's. Striking out over 100 times doesn't prohibit you from being a good player, but striking out over 100 times and walking less than 30 times definitely doesn't bode well for a player's performance, and shows a lack of plate discipline that needs to be rectified.
  13. The gen. consensus here has been that Matsui will be Yankee next year unless he curses out Big Stein - may be even then. Unless I'm missing something, Matsui isn't a free agent next year. He only has three years of MLB experience, so the Yankees could simply offer arby and he'd have to re-sign with them or go back to Japan. He has an out clause I believe to become a free agent in his contract, but from what I remember it isn't an issue since he doesn't want to leave.
  14. I'm not so sure that Sean Casey doesn't deserve it this year. The guy only has 2 errors. TWO! That's pretty sporty. And he's slightly ahead of Lee in ZR and RF. Granted, I'm not sold on ZR and RF at all, but I'm not sure of any other way to quantify defensive excellence. By those metrics: Rate(100 is average I believe) Casey 109 Lee 107 Pujols 99 RAR Casey 22 Lee 21 Pujols 11 RAA Casey 11 Lee 9 Pujols -2 Casey does seem to be having the better season defensively. Also worth noting, this is the first year in his career that Casey has not been well below average defensively. Both Lee(109 Rate) and Pujols(102) were slightly better last year.
  15. Overbay will be replaced by Fielder, the specific players weren't mentioned, but it would be silly to think they wouldn't be open to trading him. Dunn is a trickier fix, and again, I was just throwing out the type of talent that we might be able to get for Lee. But since you asked, Dunn is going to be making a good deal of money, and with Kearns and Pena able to play the corner spots much cheaper, the Reds might look into trading Dunn. Getting a couple top prospects from the LA organization to give them some pitching would not be a terrible deal from them all things considered.
  16. What if trading Lee got you another All-Star, possibly one younger and more likely to stay at their current numbers than Lee? There's a lot of good hitting 1B, I'd explore the possiblity. The only way I would consider trading Lee is if maybe it is to Texas for Mench and Gonzalez who is gonna be a stud hitting 1B if you can give up Lee and a midlevel prospect for Mench, Gonzalez and another prospect maybe. Then they could have Texiera be the DH. But i dont see Texas doing this deal becasue they need pitching. Lee to LA Cubs prospect(s) to Milwaukee LA prospects to Cincy Dunn to Chicago Overbay to Chicago Just throwing it out there. Am I missing something, but is this just essentially 2 trades? 1 - Lee for Dunn, then 2- prospects for Overbay? I'd never do a Lee for Dunn trade strait up like that. It was just thrown together to show the possibility of what we could get for Lee, I didn't take more than a minute or two to look at whether or not it could be separated.
  17. Going by Rate, RAR, and RAA, Edmonds has been significantly better than Jones this year. In previous years they've both been pretty close in those categories.
  18. Agreed. We'd probably need to gut the farm system to make a play for Abreu and I'm not sure that is worth it. Although, I believe Abreu could probably be had for a top flight starting pitcher. I'd rather contact DePotesta and see if they would have interest in moving their headache (Milton Bradley) for ours (Patterson). Both players most likely need changes of scenery. Bradley would have a manager he could probably play for in Baker. I wouldn't mind a Giles, Bradley, Murton outfield next season, with Pie pushing Murton if he falters. The last thing the Cubs need is someone as unstable as Bradley. On the other hand, one of the first things the Cubs need is production like Bradley's, especially out of CF. I wouldn't refuse him.

  20. Job well done, all set here.
  21. The problem is the players aren't out there on the market to overpay for.
  22. This post is ridiculous, and pretty classless, if you ask me. I haven't said a harsh word in the entire 41 pages of this thread. It was a joke man, and from a fellow Cards fan at that. I'm just glad I was spared. 8)

  25. Did Tobias forfeit his pick or something?
